Harvard Business School opens wide to spread its cachet for influencers and celebrities

Free article linked at R1

“Harvard Business School rivaled a Coachella party this spring with its roster of speakers.

Influencer and entrepreneur Alix Earle talked about brand building and hobnobbed with students over canned margaritas. The day after, Marcello Hernández of “Saturday Night Live” addressed the entertainment club about Cuban culture with his feet propped on a desk. Musicians Lauryn Hill and Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas spoke about fame and creativity.

In a sign of these upside-down times, the cool kids want to hang with the nerds. And America’s premier nerdery is more than happy to roll out the red carpet.”

It is such an honor to be invited to speak to such an important part of this country’s business institutional structure.

Canned margaritas? That just isn't done.

I'd hire someone from a community college before I hired someone from Harvard.

The Business School has as little as it’s possible to do with the rest of Harvard. For almost a century, they’ve been in Boston, not Cambridge. It spins money (two years; tuition/fees comes about $170k plus $40k a year to live like a poor student so a quarter million dollars all-in minimum for the MBA) but you go to make the connections that will help you make money, not to learn the art or science of business. Lots of Mormons there, too - students and faculty.

Actually, I’m more impressed with Harvard undergrads than B-School students.
