Tastful Friends, when does a home become a palace, and a palace becomes a hotel?

Not an untouched surface, in this "architectural triumph"...

This is the kind of building where I would feel IT owns ME.

A chair is not a house

[quote]A Grand European Masterpiece in the Heart of Bayview/York Mills & The Bridle Path. A true fairytale estate, La Belle Maison at 30 Fifeshire is a 24,000-square-foot architectural triumph, embodying the grandeur of a French château while seamlessly blending modern luxury with old-world charm.

Beware such puffery. It's inevitably more shopping mall glamour than architectural accomplishment. It was an overwrought mess when new, but the extensive alterations have tarted it up to a ridiculous level.

Grotesque shithole.

I like some of the details, but there's fucking can lights everywhere (not just the kitchen and bathrooms where they make sense) and marble floors which dont make sense in such a cold climate. And of course its the size of a hotel and feels like one. There's some nice furniture here and there too, wonder if any of them are genuine antiques? Either way they're lost in all the vastness.

On the plus side at least its not all white/ beige, but even with all the colour used it still feels a bit sterile

Another listing here. This home has been on the market for years now.

Oh and don’t be fooled by its claim of being “in the heart of the Bridlepath”. That’s not the Bridlepath, which is further south and east on the other side of Bayview Ave. That’s where the REALLY rich people live (and Drake, for what that’s worth).

They should gift that to me when they become the 51st state!

It looks like it belongs in Houston or Dallas.
