Nice storeclerk at Staples just let me shoplift

I picked up some bubble mailers and also a clear portfolio envelope. I realized the portfolio envelope didn’t have a UPC barcode on it and i was going to run and get a new one at the back of the store but she said, “Don’t bother,” and slid the clear envelope in one of the mailers. I saved $12.

There are still good people out there!

OP- You and her are BOTH dishonest.

by Anonymousreply 1May 15, 2025 9:48 PM

R1 sure is judgey for someone who can’t write.

by Anonymousreply 2May 15, 2025 9:49 PM

Why would you go to Staples for something you can grab at any store?

by Anonymousreply 3May 15, 2025 9:53 PM

Nice job, OP! Honesty is overrated. Clearly, it didn't help r1 learn how to write basic English sentences.

by Anonymousreply 4May 15, 2025 9:54 PM

Listen to R3. Fucking take that shit BACK to Staples and go to Walgreens.

by Anonymousreply 5May 15, 2025 10:13 PM

In what world does Walgreens sell "clear portfolio envelopes"? Face it-- you all are fat whores who want a bigger selection of candy than Staples has to offer.

by Anonymousreply 6May 15, 2025 10:14 PM

Company is in its death throes.

by Anonymousreply 7May 15, 2025 10:15 PM

You were captured on store video. The clerk is already in custody. OP, you should drive to your nearest police station and turn yourself in. Authorities will be at your door shortly.

by Anonymousreply 8May 15, 2025 11:59 PM

Now where was this store?..

by Anonymousreply 9May 16, 2025 1:05 AM

One of those stupid plastic binder folders is $12? There’s the real robbery!

Progressives are such anarchists and have no standards!

Everything they accuse Republicans of is just them projecting.

They're the awful ones ruining the USA.

I can't wait until MAGA completely takes over in 5 years time.

Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess.

I had a similar experience at my local Staples, OP. I had them print a large poster for a Hands Off protest. When I went to pick it up, the girl behind the counter looked at it and said I obviously should get the employee discount. I thanked her and asked if they had any foam board for me to mount it, and she said, "Of course," and went to grab one. She cut a half-inch off one side, then said that it was obviously mis-cut and worthless, and that I could have it for free.

Does this apply to laptops too?

by Anonymousreply 13May 16, 2025 6:58 AM

You should have gone on a shopping spree. Just grab anything not bolted down.

I worked at a Staples after I got laid off from an office job. It was during “Back to School “, their busiest time of year. They had a bare bones staff and huge lines of customers buying all kinds of things. I can’t count the number of cheap school supplies that registered as “item not found”. The manager finally told me to just charge a dollar if no price was listed on the item. The store was closing in October, anyway. He didn’t give a shit.

The new American way…. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

I was at staples a few years ago (pre-covid), and there were a few people waiting for help, one teenage guy working, while waiting I helped two of the other customers sign into computers to do what they needed to do, I was picking up a few large color poster prints, and because I'd helped the older customers the kid gave me the prints, no charge. I emailed the files so they were ready to go, but the store employees are pretty decent as far as customer service goes.
