Lorde Says: ‘I’m a Woman Except When I’m a Man’
Lorde still identifies as a cis woman, and her pronouns remain unchanged, but in a new Rolling Stone cover story, she opened up about growing more comfortable with the fluidity of her gender expression as she worked on her upcoming album, Virgin. As she puts it on the album’s opening track: “Some days I’m a woman/Some days I’m a man.”
Lorde said she is “in the middle gender-wise,” and to clarify what this meant, she mentioned a recent conversation with Chappell Roan, who’s become a good friend. Roan asked Lorde flat-out if she was non-binary, and Lorde tells RS she responded, “I’m a woman except for the days when I’m a man.”

Grown ups playing dress up and make believe for attention. Pathetic.
You don’t have a dick. You’re not a man. But you are a cunt.
Case closed.

I hate this nebulous statements - for once I'd like to hear the question - can you give me an example?
Of course they can't or won't.
So regressive and word salad. Imagine telling an 8 year old girl playing baseball with her neighborhood friends that she's actually a boy when she does that. WTF?
I've said it a 1000 times - but this blind acceptance and parroting of this gender bullshit with no examples and just 'feels' has got to stop. Everyone is just rolling over and going - oh GREAT! You do YOU! I'm supportive of any bullshit that comes out of your mouth.
No critical thinking - just blind acceptance lest you offend someone. And they WILL tell you if they are offended and will try to shame you to oblivion.

Yes, R10, why doesn't just ONE journalist ask the obvious question: "So what is it you do when you're a man that one cannot do as a woman?" Lorde, in the olden days we called this "sexism".

R11 - followed by "But I'm not a feminist or anything - I LOVE men. I have a lot of men in my life that I get along with and I am close to."
Sigh.

R17 - actually her legacy is going to be fine in the history books. There will be films about how she was hounded and criticized for her stance supporting biological women.
Future generations will look back and be shocked at what is going on today. JK will be just fine - in her own lifetime.

Goodness, how this will endear her/him/them/xem to Datalounge!
I liked her “What Was That?” single and the NYC video... though the song only got to #36 on the US chart.

A temporary behavior does not change your gender or your 'identity'.
And if you get to change yourself based on a thought or an action, then the rest of us get the same right to call you different genders or identities based on how WE see it.
So I'm calling you sir if you don't wear a skirt or don't wear makeup.
Your perception of yourself and the world around you is not on a higher level than what others perceive. If perception and feelings are what matters, then our perception is just as important as yours and we should be allowed to change up our behavior and how we interact with you in the same manner.
But they won't like that. it's all about THEM.

This is where we have felt younger people. Maybe it started with the everyone gets a trophy generation, or maybe it came later, but someone should look this woman in the eye and say, “ no, you’re never a man, because that’s impossible. If you’re having these feelings, let’s get you someone to talk to so you can get over them.”

Music video for new song "Man Of The Year" just came out and she binds her tits with duct tape. She's definitely tr.anny baiting, it's sad she couldn't find a way to stay relevant some other way.
And her face looks rougher than ever at the start of the video.

R42, I actually like that song. Don't think it has "hit" potential, but it's pretty cool.
I feel like Lorde's gender "fluidity" is just this (female) generation's "I'm a bisexual" that was oh-so-popular in the late 90s-early 00s.
Every "cool" girl I knew back then was bi. Except that they only dated men. And fell in love with men. And fucked men.
Harmless, but a bit annoying.

r45 I love 'What Was That' and listen to it regularly, but find this one to be tuneless shit. Hoping for better things on the album.
And I agree that it's a harmless fad. But she's kinda getting too old for that, wish she explored more interpersonal stuff instead.

It's still the morning here and already I've experienced multiple different genders.
I woke up, farted (male), sat down on the toilet (female) left debris in the bowl (male) put beach down the toilet after flushing (female).
I've also made an espresso latte (trans masc) and posted 3 times on Datalounge (trans femme).
