Has anyone bought one or plan to buy one?
Why would anyone purchase any EV vehicle by that company when Chevrolet, Honda, Ford, Hyundai, etcetera produce them for reasonable prices?
I saw a Cybertruck in real life the other day. WTF was Musk trying to accomplish, an insanely overpriced, extremely low-quality, radar-deflecting automobile marketed to attention hungry techbros and nerds?

It looks like something Johnboy would drive to Ike Godsey's.

Another Musk thread. In disguise.

I've read some early takes from people on the EV sub who hate Musk and they aren't impressed. Apparently there's lots of plastic involved in the frames, hence the low price. And it's gonna take until 2028 to mass produce? Plus, Bezos...
He should have just invested more in Rivian, since he owns some stock in there already.

It's an interesting idea, but it likely won't be a success. The low price is based on the idea the $7,500 tax incentive will remain in place, and that's unlikely. Without the incentive, it's $30k or more for what looks like a cheaply made truck without much range or features.

Dan Neil, the Wall Street Journal's car reviewer, wrote about the Slate a few weeks ago (free link). He liked the idea.

I like its toy-truck look.

What exactly are the demographics for the EV pickup market?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 21, 2025 2:59 PM |
Same for the gas powered pickup. The market if for those who want to drive one but don't need one.

r5 No, the sticker price is $25k, before the incentives. That's part of the appeal.
But you're right that those incentives are as good as dead.

r8 Surely you're joking? Ford F-150 has been a runaway success, same as Rivian. People clearly want more of this.
