The Democrat, a black man running against a three-term Republican incumbent, has won by almost 8%.

I live in the Omaha area. "Mean Jean" getting the boot was not shocking. Roads are so bad they call her the Sinkhole Queen.

I wonder if Nebraska native Symone Sanders Townsend will have him on The Weeknight this evening?

[quote] In 2008, the Omaha area backed Barack Obama’s bid for president. Enthusiastic Democrats nicknamed the city “Obamaha.” The city voted for President Biden in 2020, and Democrats there have coined the district a “blue dot” in an otherwise red state, planting yard signs with blue dots across the city.
[quote] Ms. Harris held on to the highly populated Douglas County, which includes Omaha and a majority of the state’s Second Congressional District. Though rural areas shifted toward the right across Nebraska, Democrats turned out for Ms. Harris at about the same level of Mr. Biden’s support in the district in 2020.
It’s Nebraska’s famous “blue dot”, but if nothing else, it shows that white voters will vote for a black candidate.

Stothert will be starring in the newest rendition of “Meet Me in St. Louis”. She’s taken an interest in it, given her partner lives in St. Louis and so has she in 3 years she’s known him, right after her husband offed himself.

He has instantly become the 2028 Dem presidential frontrunner.

Is he the father of that colored insurance agent on the TV commercials from Mutual of Omaha?. The ones about your final funeral expenses. Mavis Perkins got a policy from them for $15,000! And she's only being cremated!

A certain Datalounge element won’t want to hear this but this is proof people are already turning against the dumb trans panic stuff from incompetent GOP politicians

I agree, R9; the Democrat actually ran ads mocking the Republican's anti-trans position.

Maybe, but considering that Douglas County went for Harris by 10 percentage points in November, repeating the trans issue in 2025 was unlikely to cause those Democratic voters to switch six months later. Stothert should have known better.

The question now is whether the Dems can beat Don Bacon in the House race in next year's Midterms. I was hoping the Dems could pick up that House seat this past November, but Bacon hung on.

R12 True, but Don Bacon is not a horrible person. A rarity among R’s these days. Still, need to flip the house.
