Rep. Jasmine Crockett Says Dems Already Backing ‘Safest White Boy’ for President in 2028

Democrats are eying the “safest white boy” ahead of the 2028 election, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett told “Urban View” hosts Clay Cane and Reecie Colbert in a clip from a town hall. She didn’t name names, but suggested the party already has “one specific candidate” in mind.

In the clip, the group is speaking about potential candidates when Crockett offers her insight. “It is, it is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system, will have about voting for a woman because every time we voted for a woman, we’ve lost,” she explained.

“No, for real. And to be clear, when we talk about them, I can tell you that there is one specific candidate,” Crockett continued. “I had a donor on the phone with me telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate. So I can tell, and I tell you, it’s not a black person nor a woman, okay?”

Look at how the republicans galvanized after Obama was elected. Democrats are playing it safe.

by Anonymousreply 1May 11, 2025 11:58 AM

So who is she talking about?

I don't see Dems lining up behind any white male candidate yet.

Is something going on behind the scenes?

by Anonymousreply 2May 11, 2025 12:06 PM

So does she think we shouldn’t back the candidate most likely to win?

by Anonymousreply 3May 11, 2025 12:18 PM

Andy Beshear

by Anonymousreply 4May 11, 2025 12:23 PM

I'm guessing that it's Beshear too.. He has experience cleaning up messes left by Republicans and he rules over a bunch of MAGAts who manage to like him. He's cute, but a little stiff.

by Anonymousreply 5May 11, 2025 12:27 PM

"boy" - imagine someone calling a black candidate "boy"

by Anonymousreply 6May 11, 2025 12:27 PM

Democrats need to realize that Latinos, the country's biggest minority, don't mind having white men in power.

It's the reason why many of them immigrated here, in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 7May 11, 2025 12:28 PM
So does she think we shouldn’t back the candidate most likely to win?

From the summary alone, there is nothing to suggest she is saying that.

by Anonymousreply 8May 11, 2025 12:32 PM

It's hard. If the candidate comes out too early, he'll get burned. It's one big weakness in the US system that it doesn't have a strong opposition leader who goes head-to-head against the president between elections. I feel like Sanders and AOC realized that and fill the gap until the presidential candidate emerges. My question would be: Why can't Hakeem Jeffries fill that temporary void?

by Anonymousreply 9May 11, 2025 12:33 PM

I think it's Beshear, too.

And most humans learn more from failure than from success.

I have to believe he's looked back on his being vetted to be VP with Harris, with its upclose exposure to US Presidential politics and has a much more expanded frame of experience to draw on in 2028.

Shapiro would be a formidable challenge to him, though.

by Anonymousreply 10May 11, 2025 12:54 PM

She’s ghetto as hell and needs to shut the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 11May 11, 2025 1:03 PM

My gay friends from Kentucky love Beshear.

by Anonymousreply 12May 11, 2025 1:05 PM

R11: And 70M voting assholes think like you do. How does it feel being eyeball deep in pig shit?

by Anonymousreply 13May 11, 2025 1:08 PM

She’s right. Trump won more minority votes than any Republican since Nixon. Make it make sense. Democrats need to drop identity and respectability politics.

by Anonymousreply 14May 11, 2025 1:15 PM

The left loves a minstrel show.

by Anonymousreply 15May 11, 2025 1:16 PM

Whatever goes on in the background and behind closed doors is fine, but public comments like this are unhelpful as fuck. Dems in disarray, etc.

by Anonymousreply 16May 11, 2025 1:19 PM

Gavin Newsom ain’t the safest white guy.

That dude has skeletons that haven’t been revealed yet…but Kimberly Guilfoyle just might.

by Anonymousreply 17May 11, 2025 1:20 PM

Beshear or Pritzker.

by Anonymousreply 18May 11, 2025 1:23 PM

Do we really want more of what we have now after 2028 just because we had to make ourselves feel good by selecting a giant walking stereotype like Crockett?

by Anonymousreply 19May 11, 2025 1:24 PM

The decisive group in the last election were the 19 million who voted for Biden in 2020 but sat out this last election. Most of them are probably sorry they didn’t vote for Harris/Walz.

Get them and you’ve got the presidency.

by Anonymousreply 20May 11, 2025 1:29 PM

I respect the shit out of this woman. They are trying to tell her to stay in line when she is actually the most popular person, in the party right now.

No Im not saying she should be nominee. It should lean to a man. But if she comes with some Obama type surge of energy, then it should be her. Hopefully the Dems won’t steal the primary like they did to Bernie Sanders.

by Anonymousreply 21May 11, 2025 1:52 PM

Gen x sat out the last election. I didn't vote. I'm 45 and the Democrats bring nothing to the table. Couldn't get student loans pardoned , the infrastructure bill did not pass and the grocery bills just keep on going up. Governor Pritzker is the most likely next Democratic nominee. Illinois leads the way.

by Anonymousreply 22May 11, 2025 2:10 PM

I love the way this woman has stood up to those fascists she is currently serving with. We need more like her.

We ran a very competent black woman and we are now suffering the fallout. The hillbillies weren't buying it and I think "woman" was more disqualifying than "black". It's awful but it's true.

I'm sorry Cuomo is such a douche because he would be an excellent anti-tRump.

by Anonymousreply 23May 11, 2025 2:12 PM

R22 How do you not see these failures as intransigence by Republicans determined to vote against everything Dems do? We need sizeable majorities in both houses to get anything done.

Granted Obama didn’t seize the day during his first two years when he had majorities. That won’t happen again,

by Anonymousreply 24May 11, 2025 2:15 PM

R22 Thanks for your point of view. Is it statically of record that Gen X stayed home last election?

by Anonymousreply 25May 11, 2025 2:15 PM

I agree that it’s probably Andy Beshear. I’m personally a fan of his and think he could be a uniter. He’s a safe choice and I think he would win.

by Anonymousreply 26May 11, 2025 2:23 PM

Ridiculous comment by Ms. Crockett. Nobody who thinks that should be in a leadership role.

by Anonymousreply 27May 11, 2025 2:24 PM

R26 here, and I should add that Pritzker would be an excellent choice as well. He’s very presidential.

by Anonymousreply 28May 11, 2025 2:28 PM

R6, you’re kidding, I hope.

by Anonymousreply 29May 11, 2025 2:30 PM

Another vote for Pritzker. I like Beshear but he's too milquetoast. We need Alpha liberal energy, and Pritzker brings it.

However, I will vote for whomever is the Democratic nominee in the General Election (even that douchebro Gavin).

by Anonymousreply 30May 11, 2025 2:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 32May 11, 2025 2:40 PM

There's a lot I like about both Pritzker and Shapiro but I don't know in this present atmosphere whether a Jewish man can become president.

Beshear is really undefined at this point nationally.

Newsom is a wild card.

by Anonymousreply 33May 11, 2025 2:41 PM

Pritzker and Newsom are too trich, and SHaprio has too many skeletons. Harris in 2028!

Democrats are controlled by donors which is why they make such huge mistakes and do align with what polling reflects.

by Anonymousreply 36May 11, 2025 2:58 PM

^ And Republicans AREN'T controlled by donors?

by Anonymousreply 37May 11, 2025 3:15 PM

by Anonymousreply 38May 11, 2025 3:18 PM

Yep R35, that's me as well. What's the problem. ? Or is this a seismic shift in the political discourse!?

by Anonymousreply 39May 11, 2025 3:19 PM

AOC is the only one who can win. She’s the youngest candidate, has the most social media presence, and she’s getting people who never vote to take note and get interested. People get motivated to vote for change, not the “safest” candidate .

by Anonymousreply 40May 11, 2025 3:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 44May 11, 2025 3:26 PM

R22 Thanks! You helped Trump get elected.

by Anonymousreply 45May 11, 2025 3:28 PM

The first female president will be a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 46May 11, 2025 3:33 PM

R37 Yeah but the difference is the donors align with Republican voters cause they’re all fucking crazy.

Liberal donors are crazier than the average voting Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 47May 11, 2025 3:34 PM

One thing for sure, if the Dems lose the presidency in 28 they are done as party. I don’t see how it survives. It is a party that cannot win electorally. Remember demographics is destiny. Trump laid the smack down in 2016 and then came back from the dead like a horror movie villain in 2024 with some Uncle Toms, Titos, and Chengs on his wagon. The Biden administration was a communication disaster and. How the fuck did he let Trump win again. Fucking morally bankrupt family members and some staff knowing this man has dementia.

by Anonymousreply 48May 11, 2025 3:34 PM

The fallacy a lot of white people make in their thinking is that black people want someone black or that Latinos want someone Latin if given the choice. We all know women don’t necessarily want a woman now. Funny enough Wendy Williams expressed my exact same point of view as a black person - not everything has to have a black version or a black person. Black Americans are quite used to white people being in certain roles - and to be 100% honest, more comfortable. Take that for what it’s worth.

Basically black democrats are just fine with voting for whomever will giving us the best chance at a win at this point. And if that’s the “safest white boy” (case in point as to how unpolished Crocket is for the Presidency) so be it.

by Anonymousreply 49May 11, 2025 3:45 PM

R49 Absolutely.

It’s not that women don’t want a female President, they don’t want the shitty choices they’ve been given and I understand it.

by Anonymousreply 50May 11, 2025 3:53 PM

R49: true, but there was a lot of pressure from black politicians/operatives to Biden as well about "no blacks on ticket? Our people will stay home out of anger/disappointment."

by Anonymousreply 51May 11, 2025 4:02 PM

R49 well the problem for Dems is that Trump unleashes a white electorate that doesn’t normally vote. Kamala still won 90% of the black vote.

by Anonymousreply 52May 11, 2025 4:05 PM
Black Americans are quite used to white people being in certain roles - and to be 100% honest, more comfortable.

That "comfort" is derived mostly from knowing the white populace won't go apeshit because a Black person is in charge.

by Anonymousreply 53May 11, 2025 4:05 PM

R26 he looks unhealthier than Trump and the guy isn't only knee-deep in the swamp. He IS the swamp. Not a good candidate.

by Anonymousreply 54May 11, 2025 4:07 PM
It’s not that women don’t want a female President, they don’t want the shitty choices they’ve been given and I understand it.

Bullshit, Trumper.

Love her, Hate her or be indifferent to her, Hillary Clinton had the experience, smarts, and most of all toughness to a superb POTUS. Kamala, too.

Neither were "shitty choices".

On background, US Senate Republicans and Republican Reps said that about her. Trey Gowdy had the honestly to concede that after his committee tried to grill her about Benghazi, she came away unscathed.

I love how Trumpers all of sudden espouse standards of competence and behavior when it comes to Dems when right now the biggest POS to ever sit in the WH is doing so right now.

And don't try the "Dems too woke" BS that Trump's voters try to hide behind and deflect from the fact that they actually cast a vote for him.

You own that.

by Anonymousreply 55May 11, 2025 4:09 PM

The lie is that Trump swamped Ms Harris. The vote came down to the wire and 1% separated the two.

by Anonymousreply 56May 11, 2025 4:09 PM

R56 agreed. But our presidential elections are not decided by a national vote. Kamala Harris lost in an electoral shellacking not seen since the 80s. Every fucking blue wall state went Trump just as it did in 2016. David Plouffe said it best, “It is extremely hard for democrats to win swing states”. I just hope it’s not impossible now because of social media.

by Anonymousreply 57May 11, 2025 4:14 PM

I just want to win. If it's with a "safe white boy," so be it.

by Anonymousreply 58May 11, 2025 4:24 PM

It’s funny how yall are misremembering history. White democratic men were losing the mafuckin presidencies left and right until Obama. Hell Clinton would have lost in 1992 if not for Ross Perot. So it false to say that we MUST have a white male candidate. BECAUSE THEY WERE LOSING TOO. I’m sorry for being obnoxious but are yall not remembering history.

Hillary won the popular vote by a considerable margin in 2016. Though she lost because she was viewed as part of the political machine. Kamala loses, yes in an electoral landslide, but only 3 months to campaign and coming from the most unpopular administration history. Thats not my opinion but that is fact based on the statistical data ever since they begin polling presidents. The Biden administration WAS THE MOST UNPOPULAR PRESIDENCY IN AMERICA HITORY. That’s a sad fact btw because they did many great things. The fucking electoral college is the fucking problem.

Now tell us how white men are our savior when they lost 5 presidential elections from 1980-2010. That’s a 30 yr time periods right there. Make it make sense.

by Anonymousreply 59May 11, 2025 4:28 PM

Apologies about my typos but it’s frustrating that seemingly intelligent people have such weak recent memories.

by Anonymousreply 60May 11, 2025 4:30 PM

And if you want to be real about it. The one white man who did FINALLY win did so during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC, as he was a respected elder statesmen who served as VP for a very popular black president. People relatives were dying and there was general uncertainly in society. I say all that to say Biden didn’t win so much because he is a white man. That whole election was an anomaly.

by Anonymousreply 61May 11, 2025 4:34 PM

Clinton left the White House popular and everything and his white successor still lost. Though he technically won but it is what it is.

by Anonymousreply 62May 11, 2025 4:36 PM

I can’t quite get a read on Jasmine Crockett. Sometimes her standing up to the House GOP seems like the real deal. Other times (like this) she seems like an attention-seeker for its own sake. Not Nancy Mace level, but getting a bit too close to it for me.

by Anonymousreply 63May 11, 2025 4:37 PM

R63 They’re all attention seeking to some extent. Thats the nature of a politician. Seeking attention for a cause. It is good. I actually loathe entertainers & celebrities who attention seek because you should just let the art speak for itself.

by Anonymousreply 64May 11, 2025 4:39 PM

Whomever said Andy Beshear doesn’t look healthy, I have no idea what you are talking about.

What appears “unhealthy” about this man?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 65May 11, 2025 4:40 PM

R53, it is hard to explain. Even I, as a black guy, think of white dudes as FBI agents, or feel more comfortable with a white pilot. It's not exactly right, it's just the way we are wired as Americans. My uncle grew up in Ohio and went to mostly white high school. He thought he would try an HBCU but he didn't even last six months. An all black environment was not what he was used to or comfortable in. And diversity is important, but it doesn't make since just for diversity sake, we don't need it. It's usually an after thought and doesn't feel organic, anyway.

by Anonymousreply 66May 11, 2025 4:52 PM

It doesn't feel organic to run a white man just because, either.

You run the candidate who inspires the most people. That's it. WHOEVER inspires people to get out to the polls and vote.

We already did the "safest bet" shit with Biden back in 2020 and it gave us another term of Trump. It doesn't work.

by Anonymousreply 67May 11, 2025 4:57 PM

R66 You are black and you feel more comfortable with a white pilot. Why? I swear Covid did something to people’s brains. When the fuck did this shit happen. The standards one has to meet to become a pilot. Black pilots didn’t start during the Biden administration. Where is all this irrational thinking coming from. I swear the orange cunt has poisoned the subconscious psyche of the nation or something.

by Anonymousreply 68May 11, 2025 4:58 PM

It should be Jon Ossoff.

by Anonymousreply 69May 11, 2025 4:59 PM
I say all that to say Biden didn’t win so much because he is a white man.

That's exactly why he was given the nomination. People love to rewrite history. Biden was chosen over all the other candidates because you had to have a white heterosexual man go up against Trump. He was practically declared the candidate before he even threw his hat in the ring.
The one white man who did FINALLY win did so during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC,

Because 45 fucked it up so badly. Biden was elected simply because 1.) he wasn't Trump and 2.) he was a white heterosexual man, who was deemed by the party as the "Safe bet" to win. There was no great love for Biden because if there was, he wouldn't have had the lowest approval ratings in history just two and a half years in his first term!!

by Anonymousreply 70May 11, 2025 5:02 PM

It’s got to be someone charismatic like Jasmine or Shapiro or some cultural icon who we can’t foresee yet who decides to step up.

Best believe if it’s some generic, somewhat likeable white man and he loses because black voter turnout is low yall bitches well be on here blaming black people without an ounce of irony. Yall tried to pull that shit over Hillary’s lost in 2016.

by Anonymousreply 71May 11, 2025 5:03 PM

R70 Bitch please. He may have been preferred by the PTB but Biden won his fucking primaries. And he didn’t have to bribe the DNC and manipulate accounting to do it.

If the democrats would have only let Bernie have what he rightfully earned.

In all honesty, we might want to change the states or cities in which we conduct our early primaries. The country is too diverse now. Iowa is like 95% white and the South Carolina primary is like 85% black.
I respect the shit out of this woman. They are trying to tell her to stay in line when she is actually the most popular person, in the party right now.

And you are the problem.. Why does every far left whack job think this uncouth loudmouth is “the most popular person in the party?” Oh yeah, that’s right, because she’s black, which is apparently the only thing that matters. You all better learn real quick how to read the room and put a muzzle on this chick if you want to win in 2028.

by Anonymousreply 73May 11, 2025 5:22 PM

R73 She is hardly far left. Well technically Biden and Kamala are the most popular. But I’m using it in the classical sense of likeability as well as well known.

by Anonymousreply 74May 11, 2025 5:26 PM

Crockett speaks like regular people. Isn't that what people say they love about Trump? But I wonder why some here don't like her. What could it be? 🤔

by Anonymousreply 75May 11, 2025 5:29 PM
PTB but Biden won his fucking primaries. And he didn’t have to bribe the DNC and manipulate accounting to do it.

Hillary was winning primaries the first time she ran. It took Biden three tries and calls for Buttigieg and Kloubuchar to drop out to get South Carolina to vote for him. Otherwise he would have had to drop out a THIRD time.

Not the flex you think it is.
If the democrats would have only let Bernie have what he rightfully earned.

by Anonymousreply 76May 11, 2025 5:30 PM

I’ve never heard people say Trump talks like a regular person. Never, both supporter or against. People who like Trump likes that he puts a grandiose spin on the concerns or the conservations they are having at the dinner table. Everyday people are having hateful and spiteful conversations at the dinner table, “Like can you believe the government gave these people this while I get this” etc. Clinton and Bush were seen as talking like a regular person though obviously Clinton could switch it up as an excellent orator and debater.

by Anonymousreply 84May 11, 2025 5:43 PM

R80 See my post at r59. The truth hurts.

We need a real charismatic candidate who can repose to questions in spontaneous conversation without sounding like a pontificating school marm, cough Elizabeth Warren, or overly professorly New England intellectual, John Kerry. But like you said if America wants a sane white man, give them a sane white man. Though I doubt they want sane sane because look who is in office. So I don’t why you said sane, you could have just said white man unless coded racist talk. Maybe we need a a little neurotic. Joe was kinda of that way and it was fun and cutesy his gaffes until it just became apparent he is just now too damn old and very much behaving as so.

by Anonymousreply 90May 11, 2025 5:52 PM

R75 Crockett talks like a regular person that is highly educated, who came from a working class background and is now an accomplished professional. Meaning she codes switch, even in interviews but it never seems inauthentic. It is 2025. White people see black people code switch even at the workplace. Also I never felt like KH was inauthentic but I think the texture of her voice, and her overall mixed race look, made basic white cunts think she was being phony. It is just resentment for real. It’s same with Beyonce. Some people be calling her dumb and slow because thick southern drawl is in contrast to what we usually see for an exotic model looking diva, like a popstar who looks like her. She still speaks well and articulates. She just talks slow. But if she had that same accent and cadence but was plus size and dark skin— that accent would be endearing and folksy and nobody would call her slow.

There’s really no point in discussing politics on the DL because of this mentally-ill bottomless pit of NEED.

by Anonymousreply 96May 11, 2025 6:07 PM

As a Kentuckian, I can tell you without a doubt that Andy Beshear is a good man. He's been as effective as a governor could be with a supermajority Republican legislature. That aw-shucks personality of his might grate on some people, but it's genuine. He's the moderate Democrat that could connect with white rural voters. If he's elected president, I think he'd do a fine job and the nation would come to love him just like we do.

Having said that, I do [italic]not[/italic] want him to be the Democratic candidate in 2028. We are never going to get anywhere if we keep running to the middle every time we're out of power. Every time we do that, the country slides further and further to the right. I want us to stop being ashamed of being progressive and stop trying to persuade the MAGA troglodytes to buy what we're selling. Find a genuine progressive under 60 years old who has fire in their belly and can communicate our message clearly, and it won't matter what race or gender they are.

by Anonymousreply 97May 11, 2025 6:10 PM

Huh? Biden won as a moderate but governed as a progressive. Many, if not most, of the people working under him were Warren staffers. That's exactly why moderates went to Trump this time. They were pissed that he governed to the left on things. But according to "progressives", Biden is just a neoliberal or whatever. Right. Did you also miss the part where most voters felt that Kamala was TOO left wing? If voters felt that Kamala was way to the left, why would being even MORE progressive be the solution?

I don’t track people’s posting history. If you are talking to me then you must be that mentally ill troll who comes on threads I make or am heavily active in to assert that I am not black. I suspect it is because I schooled his ass on realities of the American electorate during the election season and he already thought I was white because I am well educated and because said person is just so fucking ignorant and stubborn— he, she, or it won’t back down. If that is you I thought you had calmed yo ass down or even expired from some disease cause I haven’t seen your roach ass in a while. I will never not be real. R99 the problem is the re-alignment of definitions lol. Thats the fucking problem. You aren’t wrong with what you are saying. Biden was a damn near perfect policy president coming off a global pandemic. TERRIBLE COMMUNICATOR. TERRIBLE. Criminal that his old ass decided to run again, after he much assured us when he won the goddamn nomination that he wouldn’t do so. How the fuck do you let a maniac who tells people to stick bleach up their ass during a deadly pandemic beat you in a rematch 4 years later. And I don’t care, her losing is his losing. He was going to lose too only much worse, that’s why his handlers came to they senses and bowed out.

Power is the most addictive drug known to mankind.

R108 If that is true that’s not even that appalling. People often have weird chemistry or sensibilities with family remembers. But it’s the fact that he would fucking say it. Hunter Biden is a fucking crackhead. Why the fuck would you say that to the American public. But yet the DL high school graduating class of 69’ just kept reassuring us Biden was mentally sound. Even Joe from the Obama era wouldn’t be so foolish to have done so. It’s ok. We all get old. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t. But oh yeah she uses the word yall and rocks long lashes so she must be ghetto. Smh. Maybe that’s what we need. She is an excellent speaker when she is being serious and not playful. Maybe we need a more foundational type black person to get these basic blacks back as loyal democrats. MAGAs been peeling them away too. All the black rappers in and around Atlanta endorsing Trump. They are highly influential not just for black culture but youth culture. Probably moreso on youth culture then black culture at large because a lot over 30 blacks have turned off from that trash. The under 30 crowd does not process race like we do. This stuff is no longer niche. Now these trapper rappers and the comedians they like and the podcasters who host them- they are all super popular with those who grew up with the existence of an iPad.

by Anonymousreply 133May 11, 2025 8:02 PM

Democrats should nominate a candidate who can get elected. There’s enough research data available that could pinpoint exactly who that could be. The extremists in both parties have the loudest voices. That does not make them electable. I live in SWFL. Diehard MAGAist Rep Byron Daniel recently conducted a public forum here and got his ass chewed by his constituentcy, some of most conservative people in the country, because they recognize stupid policies when they see them. I sense a turn toward a RINO candidate with these folks. If that happens and the Dems nominate an extreme leftist, they are cooked.

Azelia is outrageously obnoxious and super conservative on some things but mostly far left on most things. They don’t shit look shit alike. Two dark brown black girls that’s it. Azelia is like hipster meets hip hop. Very New York style. Crockett, obviously you know she is a politician you are commenting here, but her style is like southern belle Houston 3rd ward style. Her weaves are always neat and not too loud with coloring too. 😂 Funny. How the hell did you come up with that. I would compare Crockett to Beyonce before Azelia Banks.

R143 are you real liberal or a republican troll. I take it you just making jokes. But your only thinking that because she is a politician and thus the joke kinda doesn’t work in today’s world. Not being married at 44 is not unusual nowadays. And not just for working professional women sans politics, they usually marry because of the optics of family. But a lot of early 40 millenials from all socioeconomic backgrounds, men and women, have never married. It’s the new normal. What we should be happy about is that she is unmarried and also doesn’t have kids. I don’t understand why people will make a baby with someone but not marry them. That is also a new normal. Now I’m off to google has she ever dated any high profile dudes. If she is gay I would be shocked. By lesbian-dar is as strong as my gaydar.

by Anonymousreply 149May 11, 2025 9:09 PM

R147 I said you were making a joke. But it’s just not funny because of the realities of today. I would guess more early 40s millenials are not married than married. They don’t even seem 40. GQ ran an article they don’t even look 40. Im mid 30s. Millenials look and act like their in the their late 20s. And I mean how late 20s seemed in the 80s and 90s so I mean it complimentary. Like disconnected from youth culture unlike 20 yr olds today. I don’t know, people just seemed much more adult by late 20s because most people had kids by then.

by Anonymousreply 150May 11, 2025 9:13 PM

So I googled. 25% of 40 yr olds have never married. The oldest millenials are 44. Basic ass Gen X are probably skewing the numbers. I bet if they did a break down of those under 45, but still only 40 yr olds, it would be 50-60% never married.

by Anonymousreply 151May 11, 2025 9:21 PM

I don’t give a rats ass. You think the 77 million cunts that voted for Trump are all MAGAs. Come on your smarter than that. by Anonymousreply 165May 11, 2025 11:57 PM

R162 But when white men lose they just lose right. One black woman lost in a very special election by less than 1% of the vote having served as VP to the most unpopular exiting president of all time. I deal with facts so even If I don’t like them I state them.

5 White Men have lost US presidencies as democrats in 30 years. FIVE. AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 6 but Kamala took one for the team.

by Anonymousreply 166May 11, 2025 11:58 PM

R22 sorry but you don't know what you are talking about, Democrats passed a bipartisan $1 Trillion infrastructure bill and Republicans who voted against it campaigned on the infrastructure projects in their districts. It was Republicans who were unable to pass an infrastructure bill despite the Trump White House having Infrastructure week after infrastructure week during his first term, it was Republicans who wouldn't provide any type of relief for student loans. If Trump had had a second term after covid he would have has the same inflation Biden had and the entire world had. The US came out of the Covid inflation faster than Europe did.

Trump has successfully solved the GOP demographics is destiny problem and you all want to talk about a black woman or any minor candidate as some type hazard. One black woman losing to a megalomaniac celebrity who the media gives 24/7 free press and has been a household name since the 80s.

Also why would all these minority men go back to voting D for some stale white guy over their own. Are yall living in reality? Then again they’re pretty damn dumb for voting Trump to begin with but thats another argument. The problem is not race. The problem is the candidate. Think outside the box. Trump sure does. Obama completely rebooted the Democratic Party. We need another Obama and he might be named John Chu or Liza Martinez. Who knows. I also I don’t believe these first time or low propensity white voters Trump gets to the polls will EVER vote for a Democrat. It’s just culturally enshrined in them from their trashy ass birth. At least we can get back the brothers and Joses who used to vote Dem. Also Kamala still won the majority of black men, for a record of fact, just lost them in soul crushing numbers.

So true r168. It's the Republicans who never, ever do anything of any actual use to the 99%. Just slogans and nonsense and fuckery and putting the absolutely most useless cunts in charge, who proceed to fuck up everything they touch and then pay no price for that. For 50 years.

Even their own big thing, killing furriners, they fuck up. Fucking up the Iraq War in the classic Republican way should have killed them forever. But no, dumbfucks still think they're the cunts who protect us and keep the economy going.

R183, why do you jump to the assumption it will be Vance versus Beshear? If it is, Vance doesn’t provide more charisma - but he certainly delivers on the own the libs bullying. But this is not a symmetrical battle. Democrats are energized by different types of candidates than Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 186May 12, 2025 12:05 PM

You want someone who can go toe t toe with Vance (it will be him) and beyond. That candidate will need to have a powerful message on/plan for a strong economy that will appeal to moderates and independents. Black, White, Man, or Woman...that's what the Democratic must do.

And, frankly, I do not see any Black or POC man or woman who can do that among candidates today. AO'C is intelligent and charismatic, but her message alienates moderates and independents.. Will such a person emerge before 2028? We'll see, but I don't hold much faith that he/she will.

And I'll make a prediction: The first female POTUS will be a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 187May 12, 2025 12:20 PM
why do you jump to the assumption it will be Vance versus Beshear?

It could be Rubio, who will offer Latino voters the opportunity to elect the first Latino president. Beshear better work on his Spanish.

by Anonymousreply 188May 12, 2025 12:21 PM

I thought Cubans see themselves as White, not like those "other" Spanish speakers?

by Anonymousreply 189May 12, 2025 12:38 PM
The first female POTUS will be a Republican.

Christ, I've been saying that for so long this is who I thought it would be. She was a saint compared to the "Republicans" we have now.

BTW, R189, the only Cubans who think that are the "white Cubans." There are plenty of Cubans of other races. but it was mostly white Cubans who escaped Castro, because they had money.

by Anonymousreply 190May 12, 2025 1:21 PM

In 2028 it will be Rubio/Vance. Trump will see to it.

by Anonymousreply 191May 12, 2025 1:26 PM

R189 I’m married to a Cuban gentleman. Escaped Cuba on a Pedro Pan flight in the early 60’s and was housed by Catholic Charities until his mother could escape. Castro executed his father. His mother made sure he became a US citizen muy pronto. All of his relatives in Miami look down their noses at blacks whom they believe don’t work as hard as Latins and they hate the border jumpers who are here illegally. Do they love Trump? You betcha. Does my husband? Not on your life.

by Anonymousreply 192May 12, 2025 1:49 PM

I wish I could vote for the Vance who wrote Hillbilly Elegy.

by Anonymousreply 193May 12, 2025 2:03 PM

Yes this is a site for gay people r185. What the fuck does that have to do with people pretending to be hurt by the phrase "white boy"?

by Anonymousreply 194May 12, 2025 2:10 PM

I wish I could vote for the Vance who was given hostess pants for her birthday.

by Anonymousreply 195May 12, 2025 2:52 PM

Dominicans seem to have the weirdest relationship with race compared to Cubans and Puerto Ricans. So many Dominicans that look black will be so offended if you call them black. Partially because that IS an American thing but also because the thought of being "black" is more like something they want to forget.

by Anonymousreply 196May 12, 2025 2:57 PM

I wish nobody would vote for Vance , regardless of the form he takes on.

by Anonymousreply 197May 12, 2025 3:00 PM

Thanks, R192 -- I forgot about the Peter Pan flights! You husband was very fortunate.

I have a biker buddy who's a "white Cuban." I can tell he voted for Trump, but he doesn't talk about it. But he does look down on illegal immigrants like they're scum.

SMH -- if you're not a Native American, you're an immigrant. I don't get it, and I guess I never will.

by Anonymousreply 198May 12, 2025 3:00 PM

R198, all first gen immigrants seem to think they are better than "those other immigrants".

by Anonymousreply 199May 12, 2025 3:05 PM

Really R181? You think we’ll be in good shape when Jasmine Crockett starts telling world leaders she doesn’t like to fuck off or insulting them for being disabled? And it’ll be really great when she starts openly insulting white people because she’s just “speaking her mind” and pisses them off so badly that they’ll turn around and vote for another Trump, and then the wokies will be completely dumbfounded as to why that happened.

by Anonymousreply 200May 12, 2025 3:48 PM

Jasmine Crockett is a gift to the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 201May 12, 2025 4:02 PM

R191 for the win unless they find a different job for Vance that at least looks like an important job and not a firing.

Remember there is noting the far right truly hates more than their hate for elites hate for the progressives. Long after Trump is bones in the ground that hate for elites the progressives will burn bright.

11% of the country identifies as progressive. Nearly 2x more identify as far right.

by Anonymousreply 202May 12, 2025 4:15 PM

No offense to Della, but, while competent, I think Hilary and Kamala were terrible nominations.

Hilary got the nom because she was married to Bill and because Obama promised to support her if she dropped out of the 2008 election. She would have never ascended to the nomination had she been Hilary Rodham her entire life. She didn't campaign enough in key states even when warned by Bill and she didn't even address her supporters the night the results came in. Hilary isn't leadership material no matter how wonky.

Kamala was nominated because Joe forced the issue by waiting too damn long to get out of the race and then immediately endorsing her when he knew other party leaders wanted an open primary. Kamala did not distinguish herself and could not even articulate how she intended to be different than Biden. Biden himself, as noted by another poster, got his nom via inter-party shenanigans.

Both would have been worlds better than Trump but then all of us on this board would be better. Neither one of them could message for shit and neither could Joe.

The party takes its members for granted and our bench is weak. We desperately need to pick a candidate that appeals broadly and not pick someone because it is "their turn".

by Anonymousreply 203May 12, 2025 4:17 PM

I hope a "White Man" and not a 'Safest White Boy' runs on the Dem side and puts an end to the identity politics and ultra left social demands and gets back to helping working middle class voters.

by Anonymousreply 204May 12, 2025 4:26 PM

Everyone complains about the "gerontocracy", but the older Dems are the only ones standing in the way of the "progressives" taking over the party.

by Anonymousreply 205May 12, 2025 4:40 PM

I can’t think of anyone whose previous professional experience prepared them more for president than Mrs Clinton. She was a great choice, She did not run a great campaign. And she did call her opponents supporters Nazis or something close . Far to over confident she blew it. She should have been a slam dunk.

by Anonymousreply 206May 12, 2025 4:42 PM

R194 Your Golden Vagina does not allow you to speak for all white men.

Why do you think anybody here gives a fuck about what you think?

by Anonymousreply 207May 12, 2025 4:49 PM

R203: they both had the ability to carry out the office once sworn in; however, neither had the political ability to get that far.

Vance may be a craven chameleon, but I can't see him running as veep again with someone else.

by Anonymousreply 208May 12, 2025 5:02 PM

R194 OOhh, that pussy stinks.

by Anonymousreply 209May 12, 2025 5:05 PM

Whoever is the next president, if he's white boy,, white man, female, gay, alien life form, amoeba has to know how ti cut a bitch. Remember we will have 4 years of corruption and we will need someone who is the anti Merrick Garland to go after the lawbreakers with relish. They will also have to fix all the things they broke, so they better know their shit

by Anonymousreply 210May 12, 2025 6:21 PM

Agreed, R210! Know how to cut a bitch and know how to campaign for their platform their entire presidency to fight against foreign interests such as Russia who engage in social cyber warfare and election interference.

While the Republican party has its obvious Russia shills, I have to wonder why our party was so lackadaisical on certain points. Why was our party not strenuously calling for Garland's head? Why did we not move faster to go after Trump? They stormed the Capital and our representatives moved on like nothing happened.

by Anonymousreply 211May 12, 2025 6:35 PM

I don't have a vagina, golden or otherwise r207. You however are all cunt, more rancid than golden. Fuck off, and stop pretending to be traumatized by phrases that don't bother you or anybody else in the least.

by Anonymousreply 212May 12, 2025 6:39 PM

Cuban-Americans simply have zero credibility on the whole issue of illegal immigration. Yes, they "followed the rules," the rules that were specifically designed to allow as many Cubans into the U.S. as possible because of our insane trauma once Castro took over the island. Cuban-Americans are not noble and lawful and pure for following the rules, while those other Hispanics refuse to abide by them. They were simply a lucky group that fell into a loophole we created as part of our Cold War idiocies and fantasies.

by Anonymousreply 213May 12, 2025 6:49 PM

R213 “Insane Trauma” is living close enough to the prison where your father has been imprisoned and actually hearing the gunshots from his execution. Or your mother putting you on a plane and never knowing if you’d see her again. The alternative to that was being sent to Russia to be indoctrinated into their military. Bad option. You’re a heartless bastard and you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

by Anonymousreply 214May 12, 2025 8:28 PM

Latin America has had "issues" to put it mildly r214 with dictatorship and prisons and misery and torture and indoctrination and on and on and on. The only people we treated as an exception were Cubans, because the one and only rule we had about Latin American dictators was Don't Be Communist. So no, it's not that I don't care about suffering in Cuba, it's that I don't believe that Cubans have been uniquely law abiding and patriotic about coming to this country. No, I do not take seriously Cuban-American lectures about how if everybody would just follow the rules, everybody has an equal chance at U.S. citizenship. Horseshit! Complete fucking horseshit. The system because of a little quirk was set up to pretty much guarantee citizenship for Cuban emigrees (I think that may have changed recently, actually), but also set up to prevent citizenship for most other Hispanics just as desperate to get here.

by Anonymousreply 215May 12, 2025 8:36 PM

R212 I'm not traumatized by what Jasmine Crockett says. You wouldn't even consider me white. But you're kind of Cunt who comes onto DL and takes away peoples free speech because you know what everybody should be thinking, and should be saying.

This is LSA level stupitidity. We're above this shit here. Fuck off.

"She said "boy"? I am so fake hurt by that! —every white boy ever"

Straight white Christian male unfortunately is the better plan for 2028. Expecting a polarized and reactionary US to go for a person of color, or female or homosexual will be a challenge in the next election.

by Anonymousreply 218May 13, 2025 1:44 PM

Better to trust the process as it unfolds. We have no idea what the country will be like three and a half years from now. Three and a half years ago, Eric Adams was elected and the Covid vaccine was just rolling out to kids.

by Anonymousreply 219May 13, 2025 1:51 PM
My understanding is that Andy Beshear has quietly made it clear that he's not running for President.

This is 100% pulled out of your ass. You haven’t heard any such thing.

by Anonymousreply 220May 13, 2025 1:54 PM

Historically, the names this early have turned out nowhere near a nomination.

by Anonymousreply 221May 13, 2025 1:55 PM

Beshear has ruled out the Senate, but stated he is open to running for president. He would do a lot more good by taking a Kentucky Senate seat.

by Anonymousreply 222May 13, 2025 1:57 PM

I’m a woman and I think it’s total bullshit that we can’t elect a female candidate. But, apparently, we can’t. So I’m all for whoever the hell we can elect to stop the fucking madness. If it’s Bashear, great. I only care about destroying MAGA. Then I’ll care about the Dems issues with more progressive and diverse candidates.

by Anonymousreply 223May 13, 2025 2:05 PM

The far right has been a force in this country since there has been a far right. And many of those were even more obviously dangerous to democracy than the ones that scare you today. Actual overthrows planned and attempted to be implemented.

But the far right never had majority popular public support . There has been a shift in our country.. And Trump rode that shift.

11% of population identify as progressives

19% of the population identify as far right.

And the Dems seem to be leaking members and supporters today. The Dems today right now are just not an overly popular party.

by Anonymousreply 224May 13, 2025 2:22 PM

I know it's unpopular here, R223, but I don't think it's sexism as such, but Clinton and Harris' poor political skills. Much as I'm not really fond of her, I'm wondering whether someone like Klobuchar might connect with the voters we need?

by Anonymousreply 225May 13, 2025 2:28 PM

Klobuchar can’t even connect with her own staff! She’s a good Senator but rather unlikable and has a clear case of “hatchet-face.”

by Anonymousreply 226May 13, 2025 2:30 PM

R224, I would say about one-third of America is just pure evil. These are the people who salivate over ICE throwing these people into vans and sending them to El Salvador.

by Anonymousreply 227May 13, 2025 2:40 PM

And there are good sensitive caring progressives who are very concerned that a cop and clerk killer , might have had a few moments of suffering before he died,

Fucking saints

by Anonymousreply 228May 13, 2025 2:58 PM

The problem is that “progressive” no longer means anything good. It used to mean things like ending slavery, giving women the right to vote, ending Jim Crow, Fair Credit Act, gay rights, etc. Now it just means whining about your victimhood, virtue signaling, trashing white people, white people trashing themselves, pumping “trans kids” full of hormones, and claiming to be as many different genders at once as possible.

by Anonymousreply 229May 13, 2025 3:03 PM

R229 is a MAGA-adjacent troll. You just outed yourself, dear. That’s what “progressive” means to YOU and your ilk. Not sure what you think you’re accomplishing by spouting that off here other than obvious trolling.

by Anonymousreply 230May 13, 2025 3:07 PM

R228, I'm an outlier here but I find the reaction to Luigi to be disgusting. He killed a random CEO who had only been in his position for a short amount of time. And his insurance wasn't even United Healthcare! People on the left are correct to condemn January 6th rioters, police officers that target black people but they should not be celebrating a murder. You can't claim to be for stronger government institutions and then lionize a killer, someone who violates law and order.

by Anonymousreply 231May 13, 2025 3:07 PM

R229, I wouldn't go quite that far, but, ultimately, progressives are falsely convinced that poorer Americans align with them (they don't). It's very interesting that those in wealthier counties support things like a higher minimum wage and higher taxes while those on the lower income side do not. But if you told progressives this, they would just say you are lying.

by Anonymousreply 232May 13, 2025 3:12 PM

R232: There a (perception of at least) condescending tone: "We know what's best for you" from liberal activist politicians.

by Anonymousreply 233May 13, 2025 3:22 PM

R232 What I find interesting is that I keep trying to tell left leaning people that if we want to get through this we need to find unity and common ground and that this progressive position of trashing white people isn’t going to get us there, and they get SO angry with me for saying that. They always say to me things like “are your precious little white feelings hurt?” And all I can think is “if you’re going to keep pushing this kind of messaging then don’t be surprised when MAGA types keep voting for Trumpy candidates.” This is what so many liberals don’t seem to understand. They think that the real world is like a college classroom where if you just claim victimhood and talk down to people in a condescending tone everyone will bow down to you and kiss your feet.

by Anonymousreply 234May 13, 2025 3:22 PM

Why Harris struggled with the black male vote.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 235May 13, 2025 3:29 PM

R235 Why? If you’re stealing cars or selling drugs those are crimes regardless of weather you’re white, black, purple, or green. Do black men want special treatment to get away with these things?

by Anonymousreply 236May 13, 2025 3:34 PM

R233, that's exactly it. There is a feeling, rightly or wrongly, that the left just wants to boss others around.

R234, I understand why so many conservative, centrist and center-left voices are pissed at the progressive wing. The progressive wing wants to dominate everything and doesn't even listen to the people they claim to represent. Look at all these schools removing advanced programs and higher level math from their curriculum. No wonder Asians swung to the right! I would never, ever vote for Trump or Vance or any of these Republicans but it makes total sense why Asians would swing to the right if Dems are ignoring their needs (plus, they downplayed the attacks on Asians during the covid). And how are white Americans supposed to feel when they are constantly scolded for being white? Not EVERYTHING has to do with being fucking white. Seriously, some part of me feels that the minorities on the far left just bitch non-stop about white privilege because they were rejected by white people.

by Anonymousreply 237May 13, 2025 3:37 PM

There's a symbiotic/parasitic relationship going on between white liberal politicians and non (white male) activists, R237, driving this.

by Anonymousreply 238May 13, 2025 3:47 PM

If only 11% of Americans identify as progressives it’s pretty clear the word progressive is not nearly as popular as it thinks it is.

by Anonymousreply 239May 13, 2025 3:54 PM

I would love Newsom as president but know his being from California won’t help

by Anonymousreply 240May 13, 2025 4:05 PM

R234, your post reminded me of something. I like watching the Real Housewives shows as mindless entertainment. But the reddit subreddits for the Real Housewives shows are exhausting to be on. Seriously, you cannot go a day without reading a list of microaggressions allegedly committed against another cast member or comments saying "this person is terrible, I want them off my screen, and anyone who likes this person think EXACTLY like this person". It's exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 241May 13, 2025 4:06 PM

Agree, R225. Maybe not Klobuchar, given her 'issues', but someone in the same vein who has a mostly serious demeanor. An Angela Merkel type. No silly celeb endorsements. No fringe policies. Just someone who has a business-like demeanor that doesn't pander and wants to talk policies.

by Anonymousreply 242May 13, 2025 4:43 PM

R241 exhausting but you are the man up for it. You not only watch real housewives you are a big fan of the subreddits for real housewives which you seem to read every day.

Exhausting indeed..

by Anonymousreply 246May 13, 2025 5:38 PM

Maybe because we would like to win in 2028, Jasmine.

I’m sorry if that doesn’t leave you feeling empowered.

by Anonymousreply 247May 13, 2025 5:45 PM

R246 some people have a high tolerance for exhaustion and plug on thru regardless kind of like an ultra marathoner.. Good for you..

by Anonymousreply 248May 13, 2025 6:22 PM

It should go to a millennial politician.

Gen X decided it was a grand idea to go Trump all three times. They should not be rewarded for their idiocy.

by Anonymousreply 249May 13, 2025 7:07 PM

R242, Josh Barro insists Klobuchar would have won but I have my doubts. Would she have won if the stories about her projectile stapler throwing and dull personality were reported on endlessly? As we all know, women just have to put up with more obstacles than men.

by Anonymousreply 250May 13, 2025 7:14 PM

I thinkba reputation as a nasty old white broad would have made her attractive to some voters.

by Anonymousreply 251May 13, 2025 8:06 PM

R231, for me, it’s the hope that Luigi or someone else would do the same thing to Elon Musk that makes me stand by Luigi. I don’t think I’m the only one that thinks that way. Just saying.

by Anonymousreply 252May 13, 2025 11:16 PM

I think Harris could have done it, if she'd had more time to prep a better platform and sell it. I'm a modest fan of hers, not starstruck like some DLers, but I don't confuse campaigns with casting. She impressed me during the campaign and I didn't expect her to. But it was a lot to ask of anybody under all those circumstances.

by Anonymousreply 253May 14, 2025 12:00 AM

R253: according to the authors of [italic]Fight[/italic] more time wouldn't have helped; she had a brief window of possibility in late summer, then consistently behind. My opinion is that she needed more time had Biden had withdrawn earlier (2023).
