It makes sense to hang on to Congressional seat rather than throw it away for a practically nonexistent chance of being elected senator. I'm kind of surprised that she made the logical choice.

R15, Buddy Carter says he's running. He's a Republican congressman representing Savannah. He says he's going to run, rather generically if you ask me, on the issues of immigration and trans girls in sports.

Gov. Kemp presumably doesn't want to get bogged down in the dysfunctional Senate because he has his eye on a presidential run once the MAGA movement collapses.
