The official statement from Dead Outlaw is as follows. "Regretfully, the Broadway production of Dead Outlaw has decided to cancel Monday’s planned appearance at the Library of Congress upon learning of the termination of Dr. Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress. Dr. Hayden has been a fierce advocate for preserving America’s cultural memory and a great champion of the Broadway community."
Dr. Hayden was the 14th Librarian of Congress, and both the first African American and the first woman to hold the post. Appointed in 2016, Dr. Hayden had one year left in her decade-long tenure. It is unclear if the developmental artifacts that were to be donated by Yazbek, Della Penna, and Moses will still join the Library’s permanent collection at a later date.
