Cleaning up the place in preparation for leaving on a road trip to New Mexico. Unfortunately, the place hasn’t been cleaned in forever, so it’s gonna be a grim and tiring 48 hours before I can finally hop in the van and go.

Now that the semester is over and final grading is done, I'm going to catch up on some reading, take in a baseball game, hit the gym, and hope to enjoy some nice, springtime weather.

I think I saw him at a club in 1977 with a massive fan that he unfurled beautifully while blowing a whistle after a huge hit of butyl.

Spending the weekend at my mom's on the north shore of Long Island. The house has a lovely wrap around porch with bougainvillea hanging everywhere. We're gardening all day tomorrow then my husband and I will hit the town bar for a beer and get some takeout afterwards. Mother's day we'll be taking my mom out for brunch then more porch hanging.

He looks like one of those homosexuals that go to those night clubs where they play records from colored girls!

I'll be spending the weekend cleaning. My son is so messy and he's junked up the extra bedroom with boxes and overflow from his room. Makes me so mad. I have yard work, too. Hopefully I'll get a new patio set for Mothers Day, but they haven't asked me what I want.

R5, is the porch open to the outside? Trying to imagine bougainvillea everywhere on a porch in New York.

Not much. I just got out of the hospital after 9 days and I'm wearing a cardiac life vest (portable defibrillator) and everything about it is a misery. I'd rather just sit at home and watch TV than try an get out and actually do anything.

R11- Are you the person who started the thread about being scared about getting Open Heart Surgery?

The difference between the guy at OP and DLers: DLers wear a towel on the head to mimic Thelma Houston’s long hair and while sashaying.

Pizza and a salad tonight with my Gen X friend who checks all the boxes (back at home with parents who need help, two marriages that went south, college loans, laid off from a big job last year, contract work since but no benefits and her health insurance is $910 a month) and who despite it all has a pretty good attitude. She needs a place to vent, and we're it. The salads were good. The pizza is great.
Saturday: Grocery shopping early (I have my list), then breakfast then meal prep. Porchfest all afternoon, next town over. Bands play on people's porches. 40,000 people wander the streets. It may rain. I wouldn't mind - it was way too crowded last year. Five hundred bands, everybody from 8th graders to Guster, played last year is why. Promised to be more organized (and no Guster) this year. Dinner with friends in town this weekend whose daughter is graduating from Northeastern Sunday.
Sunday: Sleep late, wake my husband with my penis, make a nice breakfast, and complete the assembly of a new patio dining set. Putting together the table and two chairs Wednesday made me sore for two days. I have four more chairs to go. We'll go to Home Depot to see if the Garden Center has any annuals in yet besides pansies and I have any strength left. We need potting soil and it's heavy so he'll have to load it.

No, but I wish the best for him. The only thing I possibly have to look forward to surgery wise is the implantation of a pace maker. They won't know the answer to that until they do a heart catherization next Wednesday.
Gettin' old is hell kids.

I just want to note somewhere that today just didn’t happen for me. For some reason, I’ve been waking up between 3AM - 4AM the last 4 nights and not getting back to sleep at all. That happened again last night, and then I get out of bed late because I keep hoping I might sleep another 90 minutes or so.
Then, while I was already starting the day late and lowering my expectations, I had a false alarm with the fire alarm in the kitchen and had to reach out to the management company - on a Saturday - because I couldn’t turn it off. TWO HOURS LATER, it finally stopped but that shredded my every last nerve. I didn’t even get a cup of coffee until 4PM.
Well, I guess tomorrow is another day. I don’t consider myself depressed because I am functional and connected to my feelings. But lately, in the morning, it’s like I’m afraid to get out of bed. It takes me a while to throw back the duvet. It’s a low-level fear but it’s real.
