Ding, ding went the bells!!
Judy was one of the most talented singers ever. She also had a lot of pain and struggle throughout her life. Despite that, she had a good heart, which is hard to encounter in Hollywood. At a time when gay people were oppressed beyond belief, they identified with her struggles and she theirs.

Only 21 years old. And troubled. Yet every move, every expression is perfection.

Her hair looks so good there. She was a petite person, one would think she would be a soprano, but she was a contralto

I love that all of the women are in colorful costumes but Judy is in black to focus on her.

I don’t know if Judy would be classified as a good singer “technically” (her virbrato would break) but she had a sound all her own and she sold it with her larger-than-life personality.

There were many 1940s-era big-studio female film stars who re rides original songs or non-film-soundtrack versions of them for radio or record play, but Judy’s was the voice that when she did that, her approach and power just had that extra charisma and punch as an actress performing the song, not just in a standard big band ‘40s lead singer style. Listen to her take on the torch song “Love” sometime, as a good example of this.
