Sadly, a lot of Americans don't know that the flag raising at Iwo Jima was in Japan.

To Steven Cheung, Karoline Leavitt and Trump:

I wonder if Trump and company even know the complicated history of the Iwo Jima flag raising photo. It's not a pretty story for many reasons.

Par for the course from the very best.

Disgusting ignorance, as usual. If it was VD Day, they'd be all over it.

They also don't have the right flag for the Iwo Jima event. There were only 48 states at the time, so the stars on that historical flag were arranged in the 8 x 6 pattern.

Those guys on Iwo Jima were losers. And real men, like me, aren't losers.

Three of the Iwo Jima flag raisers died in the war. The Native American flag raiser Ira Hayes struggled with alcoholism and died of exposure and alcohol poisoning. There were also incorrect identifications. One incorrect identification was corrected in the 1940s because Ira Hayes visited the mother of on flag raiser who died in he war. The mother got her Congressman involved which launched an investigation. But, the other two incorrect identifications weren't corrected until 2016 and 2019.

I doubt Trump knows about all those issues attached with that photograph. Plenty of Americans probably don't know either.
