They are likely to cut on air cast members that haven’t yet connected in a sketch or who have had trouble getting their sketch material included in the final show.

Of course some cast members may be willing to move on if they have an indication that they can get regular work beyond SNL.

My sense is that Colin Jost (who is an important writer for the show beyond Weekend Update) and Michael Che are going nowhere unless they want to move on. Bowen Yang’s work on the series is solid, despite the regular DL hate, but he’s getting other TV and movie gigs so may be’s ready to move on? If not, learn to love him.

They'll all be fired and replaced with AI as a cost-cutting measure. No one will notice a difference.

Weekend Update is the only thing that I can tolerate about the show. The skits are just awful at times. It’s time for the series to be put out to pasture.

I thought Bowen Yang’s routine about being the iceberg that took down the Titanic was pretty funny.

R39 He's had a few shining moments, but overall, he's a one-note gay minstrel show, the 21st century version of Franklin Pangborn. He's not nearly as hilarious as he thinks he is.

Mikey Day sounds the same in every sketch. Not much range there but I suppose he's a reliable utility player. It's always too bad when people never have their breakout moment. I would argue the show doesn't currently have a superstar talent. There's no Eddie Murphy, Dana Carvey or Kristin Wiig here.

R44 Mikey Day was around long before he became a cast member. I think this might be the pinnacle for him.

Che and Jost have grown on me. Weekend Update is, for me, is the only consistently interesting part of the show. If they split, I don't want to see Yang doing it even if I don't mind him otherwise.

Kenan can continue to write but he has grown stale for me on screen.

I love having Mikey Day and Ego Nwodim around. I feel Ego will go when she's ready but will have something lined up before she does.

I'm sure Chloe Fineman will be fine doing other things if she wants out. She could be another Sasheer Zamata who (while not as great as Chloe is) has worked very consistently since leaving it. She just didn't disappear. Some of these other people totally would.

Pre-SNL, Mikey Day was a featured player in the Martin Short/Maya Rudolph summer variety series.

Kenyan should leave already.

Mikey Day was also in the execrable US version of Kath & Kim with Molly Shannon and Selma Blair.

Some of the 'featured players' will likely be on their way out.

Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim have provided sufficient. And Chloe Fineman is really talented but for some reason has failed to really launch on the show. Maybe she's a cunt.

Ashley Padilla is bland and could get cut. Jane Wickline isn't versatile, but at least she has a POV — unlike the previous they/them — and her mom used to be Lorne Michaels's assistant.

Sarah Sherman is likely safe. She really has the energy for the show.

Bowen Yang is Charles Nelson Reilly for a new generation. He can disappear.

Bowen is just not a strong performer. No versatility whatsoever.

Seeing Cecily Strong in the opening last night reminded me of how the show used to have truly gifted performers on it.
