I can't even get excited over King adaptations anymore. See The Dark Tower and The Stand and IT for why.

Cooper Hoffman is too big/fat for Ray. And the friend looks 30. These kids were 16-18 in the story. The blond hippy kid is supposed to be quiet and stick to himself. He’s a chatty Cathy in the trailer.

Whatever, I’ll still watch.

I also hated the IT remake, r2. I think the screenwriters and director completely ignored the perfect 1990 miniseries and focused too hard on the book. Those two movies made a shitload of money and it's why we're getting all these crappy Stephen King projects.

Christine, now there's a good Stephen King movie.

Stand By Me, Misery, Dolores Claiborne, and Shawshank Redemption were good. I think his shorter, non-supernatural stories generally translate easier to the big screen.

Silver Bullet is a guilty pleasure of mine. I watch it a few times a year.

I think Needful Things is a fun movie.

What? You wanted an adaptation … of a previous adaptation?

I read the story many years ago. It's the first story King wrote and one of his best. But it's a grueling experience and I don't think I'll watch the movie.

Yes, r8. I think the miniseries is superior to the book. They cut out all the boring crap and made pennywise extra scary.

Sometimes faithfully copying the book is not the best decision when making a movie. (Blade Runner, Silence of the Lambs, LOTR etc.)

For sure. If you’ve read the story, you know going into the movie that you’re going to be bummed out at the end. If they don’t change anything. Definitely not an uplifting tale.
