Courtney Love is officially getting British citizenship

She's been in London since 2019 so she didn't flee in the same way that Rosie did, but it looks like Lady Love is there to stay. In true Hole lyric fashion, she referred to Trump and his cabinet as "cyanide".

I always heard it's very expensive for rich people to live in England due to the high taxes.

R1 I've read some theories that Courtney actually left the US to evade taxes. I don't know if that's true or not. She claims she left to get out of the celebrity vortex of LA and "escape" from people who wanted to put her in a conservatorship (hence her obsession with the Britney Spears case over the last 5 years or so).

I know it was publicized that she owed a shitload of money to the IRS a few years back. With the amount of revenue the Nirvana catalogue generates (which she owns part of—I believe she sold some of it years ago), she should in theory be able to live a VERY comfortable life without having to lift a finger, but I think she's frankly bad with money and has overspent ridiculously during the last two decades on a variety of luxuries: drugs, antiques, haute couture, Manhattan lofts, extended luxury hotel stays, and god knows what else.

The top American tax bracket is 37% and the top British bracket is 45%, r1. A wealthy person is unlikely to notice a big lifestyle change with that 8% difference.

She isn't wrong.

Britain doesn’t want her.
