This years theme is “Tailoring Black Style” and the co-chairs for this year are Anna Wintour, Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Colman Domingo.
Confirmed guests (so far) are Lana Del Rey, Anne Hathaway, Doechii, Sabrina Carpenter, Jenna Ortega, Miley Cyrus, Glenn Close, Jeremy Allen White, Jeff Goldblum, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, LaKeith Stanfield.

What does Tailoring Black Style mean? Not a fashion follower.

It means cultural appropriation of European suiting!

[quote]The cost of entry to the 2025 Met Gala for an individual is $75,000. Tables for multiple guests start at $350,000. Often, couture powerhouses that sell high-end fashion will purchase tables and invite stars as their guests, so some celebrities won't pay a dime to attend.
[quote]One day before the Met Gala, a newer red-carpet event, The Debt Gala, will be held in Brooklyn. The event was founded to raise funds for organizations that help relieve medical debt for people in marginalized communities. It also has a theme: Let Them Eat Cake: Ruined Riches. Tickets cost $35.
Wouldn't it be better if the cost to attend were reversed?

How the fuck did super loser JLo get invited again? She was a disaster and a laughingstock last year.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 5, 2025 3:12 PM |
r10 This is her rebranding/ redemption attempt. I bet she begged to be included.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 5, 2025 3:15 PM |
r9 Naomi is on that list as well, so did that Metro article in the other thread lie to us? Is that why they pulled it now?

Katy Perry, hahaha.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 5, 2025 4:47 PM |
Perry and JLo were both on the cusp of being invited, I'm sure. They're on probation.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 5, 2025 4:49 PM |
There's a fair assumption that those who took part in Vogue's Met Gala Superfine issue are invited so that means a ton of others likAyo Edibiri, Lakeith Stanfield, Tyson Beckford, Spike Lee, Dapper Dan, Naomi Ackie. Teyana Taylor is listed in the video at R9 and there are people who think she and Aaron Pierre (who was also in Vogue's Met Gala issue) are going to make their debut as a couple tonight.

Katy Perry will be fantastic for a few schadenfreude laughs. She’ll do something totally tone deaf and foolish to add to her recent title as the head clown of the music industry.
We’re counting on you, Katy!

Everything about the gala seems tone deaf this year. They should all be dragged for attending and Vogue should be dragged for hosting it.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 5, 2025 8:25 PM |
I had to run an errand on the UES and (foolishly) decided to take a shortcut through the park to west to get home about noon.
I worked the event about 15 years ago, but I don't remember security being as tight, the streets being as secured and tension being as high as it was this morning.
I love going to The Met in general (and I think they do a better job than most of their stature) so I'm happy that at least one arts organization has a means to generate "fuck you" money but, Christ Almighty, it massively creeped me out to see that level of extreme contortions for a dinner that nobody actually eats.

One of the things I've forgotten in the years since I've been there is how relieved everyone is once it's finally over. Watching this clip sends my heart racing and you realize how much pressure there is to be absolutely perfect for those 7 minutes on the red carpet where everyone is trying to get "the shot"

Would it kill Vogue on its livestream to have a chyron operator putting up the names of the people on the red carpet (and ideally who they're wearing, which presumably Anna knows well in advance)?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 5, 2025 11:14 PM |
Not sure if it’s just a product of getting older, the tone of our times, or the underwhelming nature of modern celebrities, but I find myself being largely repulsed by displays like this. Used to love it, but not any more.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 5, 2025 11:15 PM |
r53, it was better when the clothes were flattering and glamourous rather than weird.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 5, 2025 11:18 PM |
I think Audra McDonald looks the best out of all of them. I also like Pam Anderson and Debbie Allen and Norm Nixon. But Audra to me was the definition of a star.
Diana Ross doesn't look bad, but it's a bit underwhelming. It the same look we've seen from her all the time. I wish she'd bring something different for one evening. Pulled back hair, or maybe a different styled hairpiece altogether. Like Streisand, I think both could use a good change in look.

So a hospital fundraiser? To make sure no invoices for $60 Tylenols go unpaid? Why do people in “marginalized communities” (or any communities) need to pay off medical debt? What happens if they don’t? And how much of an impact can this have at $35/ticket? This sounds a little grifter-ish, but I’m willing to change my mind.

Maybe Timmy didn't like the optics of this and that's why he didn't go.
It's a fundraiser for a fashion museum...which I think is valid but mostly this is just a celebration of Anna Wintour's hugeass ego.
The stars don't pay to go...the donors pay for tables and invite celebrities to fill seats. They're all dressed by big design houses.
Stars pay for nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | May 6, 2025 1:45 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 111 | May 6, 2025 1:49 AM |
R108 the majority of stars don’t pay. The fashion houses buy a whole table then invite who they want to sit at their table (usually ambassadors of theirs). The whole table costs over $350k. There are also some celebs invited independently by Anna and they have to pay $75k if they wanna go.

I don’t have a clue who most of them are and most of the costumes are kind of silly. What a waste of money- unless you think clothes are worth saving as art. One can make a case that they are. Just not these getups, rather the archives of dress over the years in the Met vaults.
Frankly I like the society ladies sprinkled with show biz royalty. Individual style, taste and talent on display. This is kind of spectacle at best laid on by 15 minutes of celebrity. I suppose that’s fun for some.

It doesn't feel like a guest list that matters. There are too many "celebrities" these days. When everyone is famous, then nobody is. All in all, it just lacks class.

Totally agree, r136.
Halle is one of my Red Carpet favorites and, for the 1st time, I’m seeing her in desperate mode.

Celebrities do not nevessarily equal noteworthy and admirable.

Here's Lana and Alligator Man going to an after party. He looks better than usual, like he may have had a flea dip, but still very out of his element.

You all are acting like Noah Beck was there. Relax. It was almost all actors, singers/musicians, designers, models etc. and some random rich people like the CEO of Instagram.
You all are acting like we were seeing Jeffree Starr there.
Kim K has been to 11 of these now. Complaining about her being there is diabolical at this point.

Nicole Kidman has the weirdest earlobes.

R136, Halle Berry looking tawdry and desperate on the red carpet is nothing new. She wore a dress to the Oscars a few years back that had her breast implant scars on full display. She craves attention and can’t get it through her performances (despite having an Oscar, she is no actress) so showing off the good china will have to do.
I watched a few minutes of the E! coverage, in which the four hosts, who seem to share one brain cell between them, declared every tired look iconic, stunning, powerful, and fresh.
Lauryn Hill was my favorite, but it was a bad night overall.

Next year's theme will be " Celebrating the fashion of straight designers." Everyone will come naked.

Paul Tazewell, the Oscar winning costume designer for "Wicked" styeld both Chappell Roan's looks (with some pieces sourced from EBay) and Janelle Monae. Monae is the clear winner.

Lauryn Hill was on time for something?!?
by Anonymous | reply 180 | May 6, 2025 2:16 PM |
r126, there was also a documentary made about him, meeting rabbis, going to concentration camps, and recanting his views.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | May 6, 2025 2:22 PM |
This is truly the dumbest event imaginable. It’s up there with Katy and Gayle in space.

White Lotus wore Rosa Parks on her pussy.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | May 6, 2025 2:53 PM |
The Rosa Parks on her pussy sums up this tired shit.
90% of them looked ridiculous

Serena Williams looked like she grabbed a comforter off her bed.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | May 6, 2025 5:04 PM |
Halle Berry looked awful.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | May 6, 2025 5:33 PM |
Does Janelle Monar actually do anything other than attend red carpet events where everyone wonders why the fuck she’s there?
by Anonymous | reply 187 | May 6, 2025 5:34 PM |
R180 reminded me of one of my favorite Lauryn Hill memes.
Her outfit was a lot and I’m not sure why she’s carrying an Hermés Kelly bag? The suit isn’t Hermès.

Zendays Blows

I liked the outfit Diana Ross wore the best. There were a lot of bad looks and I was very disappointed with what Halle Berry wore.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | May 6, 2025 5:43 PM |
meh.

R173 Not sure anyone is freaking out, but it does feel like a tacky crowd.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | May 6, 2025 6:35 PM |
R176 she gets attention no matter what loser. Get a job.
Halle was a model before anything. Her looks have always gotten her attention and her looks are why she was cast in tv and film roles and she became a household name.

He looks like the doorman at Mann’s when it was called Graumann’s Chinese.

I don't like it, but structurally, a necktie dress is genius.

by Anonymous | reply 202 | May 6, 2025 8:29 PM |
R201 what’s “genius” about it?
by Anonymous | reply 203 | May 6, 2025 8:50 PM |
Stevie Wonder was there. Stevie Nicks wasn’t
by Anonymous | reply 204 | May 6, 2025 8:50 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 205 | May 6, 2025 10:04 PM |
Being that he was interviewed, yes.

This looks like some trashy BET Awards event. Tacky beyond belief with non-stop nobodies. Even AVN Awards folks make better fashion choices.

R119 it appears Lana has had a thing for crocodiles long before the husband. She was wearing similar crystal crocodile clips at an awards event around a decade ago.

R214: 🤮
by Anonymous | reply 217 | May 7, 2025 2:35 AM |
Pamela Anderson always looks like she’s being held hostage by that son/manager of hers.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | May 7, 2025 2:43 AM |
The Met Gala used to be exclusive and a place where you can see only certain types at. Now it's like the people that don't go have more cache for not participating in pure trash. It's officially like only go when you're nominated at the Oscars. Once they let the cockroaches through it's only classed up when actual stars and legends go.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
