It's prom season. Let's discuss the underrated slasher "Prom Night" (1980)

Starring Oscar winner and master thespian Lady Haden-Guest, with Leslie Nielsen supporting. It is replete with rip-off disco dance numbers (in which Lady Haden-Guest shows her moves), a ski mask-clad killer, a prom king beheading, and a shockingly depressing ending. It is one of my favorite slasher movies.

Underrated perhaps but not under discussed on DL.

Don't you dare try to censor any discussion of my colorful career here, R1. In fact, fuck off. I do not need you reigniting any of my trowma. My scream queen years are behind me anyway. I can most recently be seen in the independent masterpiece "The Last Showgirl".

OP, bravo and brava - Lady Haden-Guest indeed. Of course at birth there was a question as to whether Tony and Janet would raise the future Lord Haden-Guest.

And BTW, LH-G at R2... you have a foul mouth! "Lady" my ass... common trash is what you are.

You look like a tranny in The Last Showgirl.

Michael Tough aged nicely

R3 common trash? I AM an OSCAR winner born to esteemed thespian parents. I was most recently seen in Gia Coppola's contemporary masterpiece, "The Last Showgirl". "Prom Night" may have been a minor work in my horror oeuvre, but I have plumbed the depths of trowma with my multi-film arc as Laurie Strode. Also, have you seen my dance moves?

Dear JLC L-HG, I have zero interest in you or your overall oeuvre (although you are a fine comedienne). You're tiresome. Your need for attention is sad at your age when you should simply be enjoying life. BTW - I will not be clicking on the link you provided for said dance moves...

And yes, your foul-mouthed outbursts brand you TRASH. Maybe not cheap trash, but T-R-A-S-H.

Pretty much everybody in this movie, except Ann Marie Martin, looks terrible. Fashion and hair was its peak of ugly.

One movie where I actually much prefer the sequels, loosely connected though they are.

Wanna fuck, R10?

by Anonymousreply 11May 5, 2025 11:28 AM

She was the ONLY good thing in "The Last Showgirl."

R11 it’s a big, free country!

All the "kids" look like they are attending their twenty-year reunion, not their prom.

Is that Rex Harrison?
