This opening is funny as hell. EO on less interracial couples in commercials and on and on.

by Anonymousreply 1May 4, 2025 3:35 AM

Why didn't anyone tell me Josephine Baker came back from the dead?

by Anonymousreply 2May 4, 2025 3:38 AM

Sure, that cast guy has his talent of nailing Trump dead-on. But he’s so completely like him, that there’s no parody. It’s like just listening to the real asshole for 10 straight minutes—which is depressing!

by Anonymousreply 3May 4, 2025 3:39 AM

Except R3, the EOs were so ridiculously inane it was like a reprieve from his nefarious EOs. Many of which are being voided by judges.

When Sabrina Carpenter shows up and sings worse than the non-professional singer host.

by Anonymousreply 4May 4, 2025 3:44 AM

“Do Stuff To Each Other…?!” 😜

by Anonymousreply 5May 4, 2025 3:53 AM

Love the car talk skits!

by Anonymousreply 6May 4, 2025 4:04 AM

This is a funny ep. So many good sketches.

by Anonymousreply 7May 4, 2025 4:05 AM

Agree, when “SNL” is at its best, it can have a good recurring skit with a bit more of a cerebral wit than is their usual norm. Love the car skits, too!

by Anonymousreply 8May 4, 2025 4:07 AM

Forever 31, LOL. Best show of the season so far.

by Anonymousreply 9May 4, 2025 4:10 AM

Is Benson Boone finally going to have something shoved up his ass on the air?

by Anonymousreply 10May 4, 2025 4:11 AM

Quinta Brunson is really good at this.

by Anonymousreply 11May 4, 2025 4:14 AM

Agree, R11. Love Quinta.

by Anonymousreply 12May 4, 2025 4:16 AM

Benson Boone looks like Paul Mescal if Mescal didn't have "it" (whatever "it" is).

by Anonymousreply 13May 4, 2025 4:17 AM

Does he perform on cruise ships? i mean really.

by Anonymousreply 14May 4, 2025 4:17 AM

Who? And, who?

by Anonymousreply 15May 4, 2025 4:17 AM

"You raised a HO!"

by Anonymousreply 16May 4, 2025 4:17 AM

Why is this Benson Boone creature considered attractive? He looks like a lounge singer from the 70s. I changed the channel when he came on.

by Anonymousreply 17May 4, 2025 4:17 AM

For a moment I thought, "Timothée!"

by Anonymousreply 18May 4, 2025 4:18 AM

What if Benson Boone had landed wrong and broken his neck on live TV?

by Anonymousreply 19May 4, 2025 4:18 AM

R17 I’ve noticed a lot of these gen Z ers are taking on that 70s look

by Anonymousreply 20May 4, 2025 4:19 AM

Benson's erect frontal nude and hole pics are available on the finer Telegram communities.

by Anonymousreply 21May 4, 2025 4:19 AM

He has a flat ass.

by Anonymousreply 22May 4, 2025 4:20 AM

R19, ratings go up, up, UP!!!

by Anonymousreply 23May 4, 2025 4:20 AM

What is this nursery rhyme-sounding crap he’s performing!? Seeing the background performs looking so self-importantly engaged behind this fluff stuff is always really amusing.

Okay, looks like he’s going commando here, so that’s interesting, at least. lol

by Anonymousreply 24May 4, 2025 4:20 AM

^background performers

by Anonymousreply 25May 4, 2025 4:21 AM

Please, please, someone. silence. him.

by Anonymousreply 26May 4, 2025 4:30 AM

Boone reminds me of Paul Mescal.

by Anonymousreply 27May 4, 2025 4:39 AM

As he reminds r13 as well.

by Anonymousreply 28May 4, 2025 4:42 AM

I'll give this to Benson Boone: he's totally believable as an Applebee's server.

by Anonymousreply 29May 4, 2025 4:45 AM

Quinta Brunson has resting smugface and is low energy.

I find her unimpressive.

by Anonymousreply 30May 4, 2025 4:45 AM

A growing number of commercials simply make no sense.

by Anonymousreply 31May 4, 2025 4:47 AM

This song has late 1970s Electric Light Orchestra Meets Rupert Holmes energy.

by Anonymousreply 32May 4, 2025 4:49 AM

Hate this song

by Anonymousreply 33May 4, 2025 4:50 AM

For a few seconds, I though they were sampling "Physical" by ONJ.

by Anonymousreply 34May 4, 2025 4:50 AM

I'm hearing Olivia Newton John's Physical as well. Chloe, cancel your latest procedure and get your mother's attorney on the phone.

by Anonymousreply 35May 4, 2025 4:52 AM

[vigorously fucking stepfather]

OK.

[resumes]

by Anonymousreply 36May 4, 2025 4:54 AM

Did Doug Henning bequeath his wardrobe to Boone pre-birth?

by Anonymousreply 37May 4, 2025 5:08 AM

I remember years ago when a DLer was trying to sell us on Benson, and now he's a musical guest on SNL. Benson, I mean, not that DLer.

by Anonymousreply 38May 4, 2025 5:10 AM

Okay, not years ago, just a year ago. Crazy how fast he's risen. The world is your oyster when you're a hot white straight guy, I guess.

I really enjoyed this episode, then I went to read the review on AV Club, and they shit all over it. They need to replace whoever is covering SNL.

by Anonymousreply 40May 4, 2025 8:34 AM

Did he do a flip?

by Anonymousreply 41May 4, 2025 10:02 AM

I have no idea what people see in BB. He's plain looking, with bum fluff under his nose.

by Anonymousreply 42May 4, 2025 11:04 AM

How is re-writing "Physical" ok with the music industry?

by Anonymousreply 43May 4, 2025 1:51 PM

Kenan is the only one who still makes me laugh.

by Anonymousreply 44May 4, 2025 3:30 PM

His skills are beyond reproach.

by Anonymousreply 45May 4, 2025 3:36 PM

YES R37 that's who I see

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 46May 4, 2025 3:48 PM

R43 He acknowledges the Physical inspiration, and gives the songwriter a writing credit in the song.

I actually quite like the song.

by Anonymousreply 47May 4, 2025 4:40 PM

[quote]I have no idea what people see in BB. He's plain looking, with bum fluff under his nose.

Great body, high energy, interesting Roman nose and wide-set eyes.

by Anonymousreply 48May 4, 2025 4:47 PM

Who are these people?

by Anonymousreply 49May 4, 2025 4:57 PM

Quinta is part of the Black Excellence movement, responsible for throwing the the insufferable Sheryl Lee Ralph in our faces. Benson is the AWG Supreme with a 4" dick that gets some of DL damp.

by Anonymousreply 50May 4, 2025 6:08 PM

I thought this episode was a hoot. I wasn't expecting much from Quinta, but she delivered.

There are only a couple of episodes left for the season, so this is the time to take note of who is being given time on the show. Seeing Michale Longfellow get that super long bit on WU tells me he may not be long for this show. He also mentioned how he hasn't been featured much this season. I also noticed Jane Whatever was on stage at the end, but I don't believe she was featured in last night's ep. If she gets extra time in the last two eps, she may also be toast. I don't know why but Lorne seems to give those about to be released from their contracts a bit of a send-off in the form of airtime.

by Anonymousreply 51May 4, 2025 6:30 PM

Wasn't Jane, dressed as a male reporter, in the boxing skit?

by Anonymousreply 52May 4, 2025 6:34 PM

The hair, the eyebrows, the cheekbones, the mustache — since I’m old, Benson Boone reminded me of a young John Stossel, when he was a local consumer affairs reporter for the CBS affiliate in NYC in the 1970s. He later went national, and became a loony libertarian right-winger, MAGA before that was a thing, and I assume he is now retired. But he was really cute and sexy when young, and this kid reminds me of him.

by Anonymousreply 53May 4, 2025 6:41 PM

Michael Longfellow has filled out quite a bit since he started. He was too skinny and strung-out-looking when he first joined the show.

He has a Norm McDonald weirdness about him, but he’s under-used. I’ll be surprised if he’s back next year.

by Anonymousreply 54May 4, 2025 7:01 PM

R53, add Mark Spitz to the 70s resemblance. This kid looks like he time-warped into 2025 from 1975.

by Anonymousreply 55May 4, 2025 7:03 PM

That was the best show I've seen in years. Glad I stayed up, but I wish there was more network comedy programming afterwards- instead of infomercials.

by Anonymousreply 56May 4, 2025 7:29 PM

Exactly, R55. Those performances he gave last night both looked like something straight out of an episode of “The Midnight Special” in 1975.

by Anonymousreply 57May 4, 2025 7:38 PM

Benson Boone's not supposed to be straight, right?

by Anonymousreply 58May 4, 2025 8:59 PM

Mike Longfellow is dead behind the eyes. I had him in my 2023 death pool.

by Anonymousreply 59May 4, 2025 9:27 PM

Now this is a GREAT sketch. Best episode I've seen in a loooon time.

by Anonymousreply 60May 5, 2025 12:22 PM

I suspect they're grooming Longfellow to take over Weekend Update when Che and Jost finally leave.

by Anonymousreply 61May 5, 2025 12:30 PM

They did a similar well-received sketch earlier in the season, R60.

by Anonymousreply 62May 5, 2025 12:36 PM

R62 I can't imagine the time and patience it took to put that together.

by Anonymousreply 63May 5, 2025 12:40 PM

R61, that's a thought. I think he'd be a bit too smarmy and sarcastic in full doses. I know it's a persona, but I think it would wear thin as a WU host. Che and Jost get a lot of flak but they're self-deprecating and don't take themselves too seriously.

by Anonymousreply 64May 5, 2025 3:51 PM

[quote] I think he'd be a bit too smarmy and sarcastic in full doses. I know it's a persona, but I think it would wear thin as a WU host.

You'd be surprised...

by Anonymousreply 65May 5, 2025 3:56 PM

Yeah, I remember Miller. I also remember Norm McDonald. I didn't care for them as WU hosts.

by Anonymousreply 66May 5, 2025 4:18 PM

[quote] Yeah, I remember Miller. I also remember Norm McDonald. I didn't care for them as WU hosts.

Fine; but that's besides the point. Miller, especially, was very popular as a WU host, so smarm and sarcasm are not going to be dissuading factors for whom Lorne Michaels chooses to be the next WU hosts (if he's still around).

by Anonymousreply 67May 5, 2025 4:21 PM

You old senior queens adamantly making your declarations that Benson Boone doesn’t meet your standards of beauty, attire, or sex appeal are so hysterical - sorry you old gas bags but you literally have no room to judge - have you looked in the mirror?

Your comments are worthless.

by Anonymousreply 68May 5, 2025 4:21 PM

Perhaps the replacement WU hosts will be London-based Brits, if and when the time comes.

by Anonymousreply 69May 5, 2025 6:20 PM

R67, it may not be a dissuading factor for Michaels, but it will be for me as a viewer. I'll wager the next host (co-host) will be a female cast member. Probably a M/F combo like Tina and Jimmy or go back to a winning F/F combo like Tina and Amy. That is unless Trump writes an EO extension on his DEI bans prohibiting female cast members as WU hosts, then it's all up in the air.
