Mom raises $500K after hurling racist slur at child in viral video

A fundraiser on GiveSendGo titled “Help Me Protect My Family” was started by Shiloh Hendrix, who identified herself as the mother who appeared to use the slur in the video. Hendrix did not respond to a request for comment Saturday. Hendrix’s fundraiser, which attracted accounts signing off with names and comments referencing Holocaust denial and white nationalism, stated she had been harassed online after the video drew millions of views across TikTok, Twitter and Reddit and needed to raise money to relocate. The incident on video started after Hendrix accused the Black child of stealing from her child’s diaper bag, according to the fundraiser. “I called the kid out for what he was,” Hendrix’s fundraiser reads, adding that a man then began filming her and later posted the video of the encounter online, “which has caused my family, and myself, great turmoil.”

I don’t get why the mother needs money to relocate, nor why the family of the little boy who was stealing whom she yelled at needs money. It seems like people are rewarding both for bad behavior.

I saw the original video of the white mother claiming that the black child was "stealing" so she called him a n****r. It was revolting — but frankly, exactly what to expect in Trump's America. Before we even get to the abhorrent fundraising schemes, I want to know that the kid was "stealing" and if it was "stealing" at all, or was it a couple of children playing, white bigot seeing her child interacting with a black child and getting upset that it might teach her spawn that we're all the same and deserve respect?
