Patrick Schwarzenegger has no shame

When I watched him in The White Lotus, at certain angles he certainly resembled his dad.

He'd be great in the part. He genuinely has depth as an actor, and could carry it off.

He needs to do a full-frontal scene (no prosthetics) before I can decide his worth as an actor.

As always, Guadagnino will cast the straight actor he happens to be currently lusting after, so Patrick actually has a good chance because The White Lotus just aired.

And another thing...some of his acting in The White Lotus is very good. The kind of nuance in his face in a few scenes is not something that a bad actor can achieve.

He was surprisingly fantastic in White Lotus.

After watching him on White Lotus I think he could pull it off. He's got the charm and he's handsome enough.

Chavez would make a far better Bateman than Schwarzenegger, so I hope Luca doesn’t pick him. I would actually look forward to this movie if it starred Chavez.

I hate nepo babies, a completely knee-jerk reaction which I am perfectly comfortable to persist in. I was at the cinema this afternoon and sighed when I learned from a trailer that Mia Threapleton (Kate Winslet Jr) is starring in the latest Wes Anderson movie.

Having said that Schwarzenegger Jr was actually very good in White Lotus, and his performance there was very Batemanesque. He was very good at showing the confident veneer crack, and something different, hidden and much more frightened appear from underneath.

Why a remake of this movie?

If you’d read the book you’d now that Bateman absolutely should NOT be played by a super gorgeous actors. Bateman is supposed to be blandly forgettable generically handsome in exactly the way Schwarzenegger is, so much so that there’s a running motif in the novel of people not remembering him or mistaking him for other people in his social circle.

And the best I can tell from this article, his “campaigning” amounts to nothing more than a response on someone else’s instagram post. He’s hardly gone full Sean young.

There’s attractive and then there’s beautiful. The character played by Jared Leto in the first film was supposed to be beautiful. This Chavez dude is a traffic stopper. That isnt Bateman. Bateman is generic “got to be good looking cause he’s so hard to see” handsome.

Bateman is called “gorgeous” and “a hunk” in the novel. Yes, other characters are also handsome. They all dress alike, style their hair alike, are white, and if they have the same hair color, are confused for each other. I have gotten confused at work for many other peopleo many times due to hair color and being white alone (I never thought we looked that much alike tbh.)

Yes r55. Patrick very much is described as being gorgeous in the book. And he only hangs out with other gorgeous people, men and women alike.

He hated everyone deep down but to be able to speak to him you had to be good looking, fit, have money and be white. He openly hates black people, Asians (especially Japanese), Hispanics (he makes it a point to let escort agencies know he wants a WHITE woman and they better not be Hispanic and makes derogatory comments about Hispanics in the book), poor people, ugly people, fat people, homeless people, average people, children, animals, gay men etc.

I think Patrick Bateman is attractive enough for people to give him the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't really matter if the actor playing him is blandly handsome or absolute physical perfection. It's not the most important aspect of the character.

The character needs to be manic, insecure, shallow and generally off-putting.

I am late one this season of White Lotus - and this was a show that I LIKED but not loved, but I really loved the season!

I expected to HATE this kid-

However, this guy is a great actor. He has charisma and TALENT.

Truly, he was probably my favorite character and actor on this season after Tayme Thapthimthongwho played Gaitok and Aimee Lou Wood...

I’m astonished by posters here singing Schwarzenegger’s praises in “White Lotus.” He is good-looking with a great body but he’s a soulless blank, about the unsexiest hunk you can find on TV. Which is saying something.

Just because in the last two episodes he managed to look convincingly hurt or puzzled by things said and done to him, some rushed to talk about what a brilliantly accomplished actor he is, when really it was the slow burn progression of his plotline (which so many bitched about all season) that allowed the tiny bit of expression he’s capable of to seem momentous after weeks of smugness.

Agree with R83. He was competent at best in a can’t-miss script.

If Luca’s American Psycho actually does get made they will cast someone who no one has predicted here. I would be most interested in seeing either George MacKay or Nicholas Alexander Chavez interpret the role as written in the book.
