Legally elections don’t stop in the US even during wartime or an emergency. And there are supposed to be checks on his power, but those checks are all but useless now. So it’s possible that this scenario would horrified republicans into stopping him but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
What is the likelihood that Trump could declare martial law next year to stop the midterm elections?

Thank you for this. There’s weren’t enough real Trump threads so it’s such a relief that you started a hypothetical one to start fretting about events that haven’t happened yet.
You’re a true hero.

Is he not doing enough horrifying shit right now to satisfy you?

He doesn't give a fuck about that! Loyalty is a ONE WAY street, once he was inaugurated, he owes the Reoublicans NOTHING!

Since the Constitution specifically says that congressmen serve for two years, it sounds like what you're suggesting would disband the entire House of Representatives. Is that the idea? Similarly, one-third of the Senate would be out the door.

OP, one of several retired military experts swears up and down that that isn’t possible (yet). This person comes out of high-level operations within the Army, and their role was centered on logistics and coordination of resources and strategy. This person states that because of how vast our country is, combined with the size of our population, that there would be no way for the government to enact it, and that even if the military supported this plan, it would take over a year to execute it.
I realize the midterms are over a year out, so it’s not an impossibility. However, this expert also claims that because of how leaders in the military are trained, they ultimately would be challenging his unlawful orders.
I’m not telling you it won’t happen — I’m just repeating what my experts are saying. My experts say he will try to suppress and oppress us, but that his main weapon will be politics as opposed to violence. And I do think it makes sense. They are masters of politics and will use psy-ops and propaganda to control our population more than anything else. Why do you think they’re deporting citizens and threatening us with El Salvador? Fear. It works.

Trump's advisors need to tell him to get a grip. They won't, though.

The American people won't put up with that shit. Hatred toward him is growing. Oh sure, they'll always be some nitwits who believe in him but they are in a small minority.

He’ll declare Marshall law.

50/50. It could go either way. The worse his approval rating , the higher the odds
