First look at The History of Sound with Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor

Gay romance during World War I. This looks like it might be really good. Mescal in particular suits the period perfectly, which is a surprise.

Reading the book now. It's so could and can't wait for the film!

The short story is, well...short. Does anyone have any idea how the author fleshed out the story to a movie?

Same actors in these gay stories, always...

A lot of the reviews at Cannes pointed out that the physical intimacy aspect was quite restrained. I wonder if it’s possible Mescal and O’Connor might end up doing “additional photography” to remedy that before its release?

The first reviews sucked. Some said Josh is barely in it and the relationship gets little scren time. Too bad as I was lookimg forward to this movie.

Is there a trailer available?

Doubtful. Paul Mescal talked about the lack of physical intimacy in the film and he liked that approach; also the director didn't want it to be just down to physical intimacy.

“Thank God,” Mescal, who has put in his time on sex scenes in TV’s “Normal People,” the show that introduced him to the world, added. “I’ve done my fair share of sex scenes, I’m like, ‘been there, done that.’ What feels slightly different about this from [other] romantic relationships onscreen, I would say in the hierarchy of their relationship, physical touch isn’t the priority. It’s intellectual stimulation, it’s friendship. Not that they’re not physically attracted to each other; they very much are, but their chemistry is born from this shared love of these folk songs, and it extends from there.”
