Trump Officials Are Hoarding Supplies Thanks to His Tariffs

Trump administration officials are stockpiling basic supplies in anticipation of skyrocketing prices from the president’s ill-advised tariffs.

[quote] Rolling Stone reports that at least three administration officials, including one Trump aide, are buying toilet paper, food items, and other household supplies in bulk. They also told the publication that they know other conservatives working in politics, both inside and outside of the White House, who are doing the same.

[quote] When asked why they were hoarding, the Trump aide said, “Because it would be stupid not to!” They added that they and their partner were “stashing cash” in their Washington, D.C.-area home but that they still support Trump’s tariffs, saying there will be “short-term pain” before long-term “prosperity.”

This is like reading about "the strange, deadly coronavirus that's ripping through Wuhan" in the months before it hit here. Shit is going to collapse. Again.

Ugh, those fuckers.

by Anonymousreply 2May 2, 2025 4:02 AM

Fuckers. Pig fuckers.

Hoarding is going to make it worse.

I started stocking up shortly after the election. Of course, my hoard is minuscule, and nowhere near the scope of a greedy MAGA toady.

As far as I know toilet paper isn’t imported from China or anywhere else. It’s made domestically so it should still be plentiful and it’s the hoarding of it that will make for shortages. I think all the talk about empty shelves coming is overblown.

Apparently, TP and paper towels are related to tariffs on Canadian component products.

My Trump-Lite friend texted me this about the tariffs and the possible shortages.

[quote] I believe all will get worse before it gets better. I pray he knows what he is doing and I look forward to future prosperity!

The MAGA folks sometimes tell Libs to "cry harder." This is an instance where MAGA should Pray Harder.

You don't seem to have a posting history, r6.

by Anonymousreply 9May 2, 2025 2:46 PM

What is the goddamn obsession with stocking up on TP?

by Anonymousreply 10May 2, 2025 2:48 PM

R6 The trees that make the paper pulp come from Canada. And the plastic that makes the wrappers comes from China.
