Robert De Niro's child comes out as transgender woman after starting HRT treatment
In a heartfelt interview, Airyn De Niro opened up about her transition, offering a glimpse into the complexities of identity and the power of self-discovery.
Robert De Niro's child, Airyn, 29, has publicly identified as a transgender female, sharing her journey in the hopes of inspiring queer women of colour.
Previously known as Aaron Kendrick De Niro, Airyn was born on October 20, 1995, alongside her twin, Julian Henry Deon, to Robert De Niro and his former partner, Toukie Smith, during their relationship from 1988 to 1996. In her first interview following the start of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) last November, Airyn expressed that witnessing other trans women being “honest and open” online made her realise it was not “too late” for her to embrace her true self.
HRT plays a significant role in the transition process for many transgender individuals, as it involves administering hormones to help align physical characteristics with one's gender identity.
Speaking to Them magazine, Airyn said she wanted to address her transition publicly for one specific reason: “There's a difference between being visible and being seen. I don't think I've been seen yet.”
Airyn, who came out as a gay man while in high school, said she never felt as though she fit in.

“I was always told I was too much of something or not enough of something growing up: Too big, not skinny enough. Not Black enough, not white enough. Too feminine, not masculine enough. It was never just, ‘You're just right, just the way you are.’
And trans is going to make this better?
He was a decent looking kid - he just needed to go to the gym and workout.

Trans will not make this better. You don’t have to look far to see the complications from botched operations these days.
He’s in his late 20’s so you’d think he was mature enough not to take these kids on TikTok so seriously.

Oh do trans people not feel like they fit in after they try to fit in?
If only people would just accept them. If only they would just accept them they could finally fit in.

Thank God women don't have to go through any of these struggles. Women always feel just right the way that they are - they never think they're too fat, not proportioned right, hair isn't right, makeup not right, skin not right, too short or too tall, etc. They're never criticized online about their looks or clothes or are judged by others.
What a relief he will feel! Right ladies? Right?

With that pink hair, they should have stayed at non-binary. I thought that was closely associated with the pink and blue hair genes.

What percentage of trans women would you guess are happier, more content, satisfied, more at peace with, etc. after the transition?
I'd say much less than half.

She looks to have Peter Pan Syndrome. Wants to be a young hipster chic forever. Reminds me of Elliot Page who seems to want to be a scater boy for life.
Has she finished college? Grad school? Has a job? A career?
All the life energy going into her superficial look and gender explorations? Le snore.

Transgender self identity is highly associated with neurodivergence and DeNiro already has an autistic son. Both this child and the transgender daughter were fathered by him after he turned fifty.

Nothing makes me roll my eyes harder than when I hear biracial people say self-absorbed and self pitying shit like this. There's no such thing as "black enough" or "white enough." You're a human being for Chrissake. Everyone gets 50 percent DNA from each parent, and if you have two parents of two different races, then it makes you biracial. It's not rocket science. Stop whining and get over yourself.

[quote]Nothing makes me roll my eyes harder than when I hear biracial people say self-absorbed and self pitying shit like this.
The fact that you've heard biracial people talk about this often enough to prompt an eye roll shows that this is an experience that a fair number of biracial/mixed-race people share. You can roll your eyes harder, but there's sociological research into the specific challenges of growing up mixed race, there are social groups where mixed-race people interact because they have certain experiences in common... Why dismiss people's personal experiences outright?
"Not black enough" and "not white enough" are not to be taken literally: it just means that many mixed-race people do not feel fully embraced or accepted by either community. It happens.

R34 also, De Niro and Jamie Lee Curtis are "woke" progressives and most trans kids derive from liberal households and rarely from conservative homes, which is curious.
I mean, look at gays/lesbians, who come from both Republican and Democratic homes.
But trans/nonbinaries are mostly seen coming from the left and being raised by ACTORS.

I think the statement about not every feeling right - not white enough, masc enough, black enough, fem enough, etc. is very telling.
Feels like a "I don't like who I am and feel like I'm doing things wrong - let me just be somebody totally different".
As if being trans is going to magic wand erase these issues. I sincerely believe SOME of these people transition as a 'reset' button - and to be somebody completely different. It's self-hate.

When your parent is as famous as DeNiro (or even Jamie Lee Curtis), it's inevitable that you're going to have identity issues.
Your entire life you would have been seen as merely an extension of your famous parent, not as an independent individual.
Add to that bad parenting and being raised by someone who by definition is likely a narcissist and attention seeking, and you have a perfect storm of crazy.

Being trans is one thing, but not being comfortable in any identity is a lot messier still. His mom, dad, friends, didn't comfort him in the knowledge that he was fine as his unique self? I can't really imagine someone growing up in his privilege being bred to have zero self worth and no sense of sure and valued identity. Maybe much of this is hard wiring waiting for the trigger to make a mess out of a now not so young life. It seems heavy.

There could still have been parental emotional neglect and resulting feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. Material wealth and privilege don't always shield you from those things.
