Enraged William to Strip Meghan of HRH Title She Keeps Using

Prince William will strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles when he becomes king, after Meghan made it clear she plans to continue using the honorific, sources have told the Daily Beast.

William’s determined position makes a stark contrast to that of the king, who is understood not to have any appetite for a fight on the issue.

Meghan and Harry promised the late Queen Elizabeth they would stop using the HRH titles when they left the royal family in 2020, but Meghan has reneged on that promise.

The issue was first highlighted by the Daily Beast ten days ago after Meghan published a letter she received, addressing her as, “Your Royal Highness.”

Now, it has emerged that Meghan sent Jamie Kern Lima a gift basket of “homemade strawberry sauce” with a slip saying: “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” The basket, and note, were seen on the latest edition of Kern Lima’s podcast.

Meghan’s side is arguing that she is entitled to use the title, provided it’s not for commercial use.

A Meghan source said: “Harry and Meghan retain their HRH titles; however, by agreement, they do not use them for commercial purposes. While they do not publicly use ‘HRH,’ this was a personal gift, and their titles remain.”

However, this interpretation was described by one former courtier as “complete rubbish.” This source said that the so-called Sandringham Summit, which settled the terms of Meghan and Harry’s exit from the ranks of working royalty, “made it clear they had agreed not to use the HRH titles at all, ever, in any capacity.”

The official statement, which can still be seen on the official royal website, clearly supports this interpretation. It reads: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”

The former courtier added: “Charles might be happy to put up with this, but William won’t. He loathes and despises Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body, he believes they have betrayed everything the family stands for and the idea that they are using their royal status as a calling card will enrage him.”

Friends of William told the Daily Beast last week that they thought Meghan was testing the waters by posting a letter addressing her as HRH from the vice president of Ukraine, but had “deniability” because the note came from someone else.

Printing up compliments slips using her HRH is an entirely different scale of provocation.

A friend of William’s told the Daily Beast: “Charles has completely lost control. It’s apparent that Harry and Meghan have every intention of making his final years a misery, just as he feared they would. Meghan using her HRH exposes how weak and enfeebled he is. She knows he won’t do anything. There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found.”

While the only precedent for removing an HRH is divorce—both Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson lost theirs—most observers believe the honorific could simply be removed by royal fiat.

Norman Baker, a former government minister who has written extensively on royal and constitutional matters, told the Daily Beast: “The law is not clear, but I have little doubt that as the bestowing of an HRH is in the gift of the monarch, the monarch could remove the HRH title. It would basically be the equivalent to an executive order in the U.S.”

Baker was an early voice calling for the Sussexes to be stripped of the titles when they first quit the working family. He said: “It was a mistake to not simply take it away at the time. People didn’t want to up the ante and cause problems, so it was smudged over—as so many things in the U.K. are—but as we can now see, it would have been useful to have had that clarity.”

After Meghan first reasserted her and Harry’s titles in an Instagram post earlier this month, an expert in heraldry who knows the family told the Daily Beast, “There were plenty of people at the time who said it was a mistake to make not using the title a mere gentleman’s agreement rather than just removing it. This post may not matter in and of itself, but it raises a bigger question: What are they going to do if she simply starts using her HRH again? She probably can’t be stopped as things stand right now. The bottom line is, she is, officially, an HRH. It was never removed.”

A friend of the king told the Daily Beast that while the king was likely to be aware of the controversy, he would not seek to have the issue raised with the couple.

I Never open these threads and I couldnt care less about anyone Involved, but I have to point out that 99 percent of the Meaghan content here and elsewhere is created by her haters.

Nobody is talking about her except you!

At this point the best way to actually make her go away and stop the conversation is for you -the posters that create regularly maxed-out threads about her- TO SHUT UP

by Anonymousreply 2April 30, 2025 10:12 AM

And 99% of her haters are... wait, wait, you know what they are called...

Also, it would take an act of Parliament to remove a HRH from a Royal Prince,

Megan would be demoted to HRH Princess Henry, Duchess of Sussex.

by Anonymousreply 3April 30, 2025 10:50 AM

I suspect that William will take the lead of the Swedish royal family and remove all titles from family members not in the direct line of the heir. This would take away the "personal attack" against H & M (as it would also affect other family members). It would be better if Charles did it. Maybe he will just as he's about to kick the bucket so he doesn't need to deal with any backlash.

by Anonymousreply 4April 30, 2025 11:09 AM

R3 is mistaken. There are no laws in the UK pertaining the to the use of HRH honorifics; thus, Parliament has no authority in the matter. It is within the prerogative of the monarch to bestow (or deny) the honorific.

With regard to Meghan being "demoted" to "HRH Princess Henry, Duchess of Sussex," those are her titles now. How is this a demotion?

by Anonymousreply 5April 30, 2025 11:09 AM

Miss, with all due respect, I have problems of my own.

by Anonymousreply 6April 30, 2025 11:15 AM

The article gets it wrong. Meghan didn’t receive the letter from the Ukrainian vice president or whomever it was. It was clearly meant for Harry who had just visited there. Meghan published it on her instagram because obviously the world needed to hear it and poor Harry can’t afford his own Instagram account.

The gift basket though, is on her. What’s weird is she made the “jam” in a hurry and it didn’t have time to gel. So the friend got soupy strawberries. It’s just so weird. Send flowers, send eggs, send lemons since she has a lot of those.

by Anonymousreply 7April 30, 2025 11:40 AM

Yeah that’ll stop her. Fucking famewhore.

by Anonymousreply 8April 30, 2025 12:08 PM

Get her, Willie!

by Anonymousreply 9April 30, 2025 12:22 PM

What about the Burger King? Shouldn't he be doing something about that too?

by Anonymousreply 10April 30, 2025 12:26 PM

R2 is an imbecile.

by Anonymousreply 11April 30, 2025 12:28 PM

R6 Harrumph! How very dare you!

by Anonymousreply 12April 30, 2025 12:33 PM

Good

by Anonymousreply 13April 30, 2025 1:22 PM

Charles has cancer!!!

by Anonymousreply 14April 30, 2025 1:23 PM

Harry has been open about his mental health struggles but not a peep out of William. I wonder what mental health issues he's dealing with. Inferiority complex? Abandonment? Narcissism? Sadism?

by Anonymousreply 15April 30, 2025 2:03 PM

r5, for the first time in ages I have been corrected. Thank you.

I should have said that she would be reduced, instead of demoted.

by Anonymousreply 16April 30, 2025 3:55 PM

William is going to be a tyrant on the throne. Some serious unresolved issues with that one.

by Anonymousreply 17April 30, 2025 4:00 PM

A tyrant against who? Aside from over his own family and Palace staffers he has no real power.

by Anonymousreply 18April 30, 2025 4:05 PM

Against whom, doll, whom.

by Anonymousreply 19April 30, 2025 4:15 PM

[quote] I suspect that William will take the lead of the Swedish royal family and remove all titles from family members not in the direct line of the heir

I think this will happen, but I think at some point Charles will do it to take the burden off of William, particularly if he really is terminal. Perhaps in the short term he has thornier issues to deal with, like dealing with Andrew & his daughters, but I can't imagine Charles put William in the position of doing something that creates a permanent break with Harry, particularly since at some point, William is going to have to take care of Harry in some capacity

by Anonymousreply 20April 30, 2025 4:22 PM

R15 he’s a narcissist just like his father which is why they don’t get along either.

by Anonymousreply 21April 30, 2025 4:25 PM

[quote] There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found.

There already is a way, actually a couple of ways: issuance of Letters Patent by the sitting monarch, giving or taking the HRH honorific; or simple royal fiat, whereby the monarch simply makes their wishes known on the matter.

[quote]While the only precedent for removing an HRH is divorce—both Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson lost theirs—most observers believe the honorific could simply be removed by royal fiat.

Rubbish- the Royal Family and their advisors know full well about monarchical privilege when it comes to honorifics, they've used it plenty in the past for other titles (ie. granting "Lord" and "Lady" status to certain individuals under certain conditions) as well as the HRH. King Charles is just wussier than William, and is loathe to use his powers with his younger son and his wife.

by Anonymousreply 22April 30, 2025 4:53 PM

Why look petty when they don’t have to? Let them use the titles.

by Anonymousreply 23April 30, 2025 4:56 PM

I can't feel sorry for anyone who lives in Montecito.

by Anonymousreply 24April 30, 2025 5:12 PM

Reluctantly, I agree with r23.

I actually think it makes the Sussexes look foolish, even pitiful, to be using them.

When they use them, they are putting it front and center that they still need the BRF more than the BRF needs them.

by Anonymousreply 25April 30, 2025 5:12 PM

[quote] While the only precedent for removing an HRH is divorce—both Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson lost theirs—most observers believe the honorific could simply be removed by royal fiat.

That's not exactly true. When Wallis Simpson married HRH the Duke of Windsor, by custom she was entitled to be addressed as HRH the Duchess of Windsor. But George VI denied her that right, and insisted she only be addressed as "Your Grace." the Duke and Duchess complained bitterly, because it was against custom; but the argument was that all titles flow ultimately from the monarch, so if George insisted she could not use the HRH title, she could not officially do so. (In private, her staff and her friends addressed her as "Your Royal Highness," and bowed or curtseyed to her as if she were a genuine HRH.)

Meghan is breaking the rules by using the title and publishing her use of it for the world to see. I completely understand why Charles is not going to push it; but it is really going to be fun when William becomes king and forces her to drop it. he might even push legislation to remove their titles as Duke and Duchess completely, so she will have the shame of being simply "Princess Harry" (or would it be "Princess Henry"?).

by Anonymousreply 26April 30, 2025 5:20 PM

[quote] Perhaps in the short term he has thornier issues to deal with, like dealing with Andrew & his daughters,

Andrew is indeed a problem, but his daughters are not. They are much loved by the rest of the family from everything I've read.

by Anonymousreply 27April 30, 2025 5:21 PM

As Ever, Her Royal Highness.

by Anonymousreply 28April 30, 2025 5:24 PM

Markle is sickening.

I'd actually respect it if she herself, publicly and diplomatically, announced she would not address herself as HRH and would politely correct anybody who did.

Now, that truly would be a PR win for her.

by Anonymousreply 29April 30, 2025 5:36 PM

For a family who does fuck-all other than photo ops, the idea of any of them being “outraged” is a ridiculous joke. Just chuck them all into a grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 30April 30, 2025 6:13 PM

All of them are attention-seeking fame whores. William is no better than Meghan, just like the late Queen was no better than Diana. They all love fame and prestige, like any other celebrity. I can't get worked up about any of them and this constant focus on their family "drama" is beyond weird at this point.

by Anonymousreply 31April 30, 2025 6:28 PM

It would be great if she continued her sneaky HRH campaign. She's already insufferable to most Americans, imagine if she added "her royal highness" to the mix!

by Anonymousreply 32April 30, 2025 6:42 PM

Seeing Meghan brought low for all the awful things she has done will be a great day.

by Anonymousreply 33April 30, 2025 7:00 PM

[quote] King Charles is just wussier than William, and is loathe to use his powers with his younger son and his wife.

It's easier to fuck over a brother, than it is to fuck over a son.

William should understand this, being that he has three kids.

Could he be so cruel to George, or Charlotte, or Louis? I don't think he could.

So surely, he should understand why Charles can't/won't strip Harry of his title.

William is just being petty, as brothers usually are towards each other.

Sibling rivalry.

by Anonymousreply 34April 30, 2025 9:03 PM

William shouldn’t bother. It will only get her the attention she craves. The only option, in dealing with all narcissistic trash, is to IGNORE.

by Anonymousreply 35April 30, 2025 9:12 PM

How is removing their HRHs cruel, exactly?

by Anonymousreply 36April 30, 2025 11:35 PM

It’s not, it’s just unnecessary. Who cares if they use their titles in personal correspondence? She’s not hawking jam with an HRH sticker on it.

by Anonymousreply 37April 30, 2025 11:37 PM

Yet...

by Anonymousreply 38April 30, 2025 11:38 PM

Good. This vile bitch needs to be publicly humiliated for all of the atrocities she continues to perpetrate against the world.

by Anonymousreply 39April 30, 2025 11:55 PM

There are several reasons why Harry and Meghan should not be using their HRH styles. Of course, their team rushed to the argument that they were not using HRH for commercial reasons. Yes, that is one rationale. However, there is another: when you quit the royal family and move to another country, you are no longer royal. You are not supporting the monarchy. As Queen Elizabeth II told them, "you support the monarchy...the monarchy does not support you." The purpose of the royal family is to serve the nation by being or supporting the Head of State, which Harry and Meghan chose not to do. That's what makes a royal family in Europe in the 21st century. It is why Queen Margrethe II took princely titles away from her grandchildren by her son Prince Joachim: they were not supporting the Head of State. In prior centuries, princes were more plentiful; in the 21st century, for a monarchy to be useful to a nation, it should be reasonably small. Charles understood that when he argued for a slimmed-down monarchy. At the end of the day, in the UK, the monarch is the font of honor and can give it -- or take it away. I imagine William will one day replace the George V rules of 1917, for a new century.

by Anonymousreply 40May 1, 2025 12:02 AM

It would be nice if Diana’s divorce were to be backdated to before Harry was born so that he would be made bastard, taking care of the problem of Harry, his wife, and his offspring in one shot.

by Anonymousreply 41May 1, 2025 12:06 AM

I doubt William is really paying that much attention to what Meghan is posting on Instagram, when he barely pays attention to what his own account managers post. This is just clickbait for Meghan haters.

by Anonymousreply 42May 1, 2025 12:10 AM

They are in fact, HRH’s by virtue of Harry being born the son of the Prince of Wales, and Meghan by virtue of the Queen’s Letters Patent. William can, of course, remove it when he becomes king. One wonders, though, to what end — they’ve gone down the road of trying to be more in touch with “the people” so appearing to be vindictive by removing titles rather obliterates their efforts. Are they to be forever tarnished by that notoriously fractious Hanoverian blood that keeps tearing the families of successive generations apart?

by Anonymousreply 43May 1, 2025 12:14 AM

Oddly, the new facial hair brings out William's resemblance to Diana. Like it.

Is the Daily Beast reliable? Some of these quotes are hard to swallow.

[quote]A friend of William’s told the Daily Beast: “Charles has completely lost control. It’s apparent that Harry and Meghan have every intention of making his final years a misery, just as he feared they would. Meghan using her HRH exposes how weak and enfeebled he is."

That's a hell of a way for a so-called friend of William's to talk about his father.

by Anonymousreply 45May 1, 2025 12:23 AM

R45 yeah I don’t buy any of it. If the story made Charles or William look good I could believe it came from one of their camps, but it doesn’t.

by Anonymousreply 46May 1, 2025 12:30 AM

Tom Sykes supposedly has an insider at the Palace so what he writes can be believed, if overstated. His ceaseless statements of distaste for the Sussexes is exhausting and self-indulgent. The King, William, Catherine, and the Palace have the whole apparatus of prestige and influence at their beck and call and they use it constantly to belittle them. No matter how much you dislike the Sussexes, they’re not the monsters in this endless display of dysfunction. Were Diana still alive I think that a) this situation between the brothers never would have happened, but if it had, then b) she would back the Sussexes. Her abiding dislike for “the men in grey suits” practically guarantees that.

by Anonymousreply 47May 1, 2025 12:38 AM

Meghan will become known as Her Roil Heinous.

by Anonymousreply 48May 1, 2025 12:43 AM

R47 that’s the fundamental reason why William seems to have such antipathy for Harry, imo. He knows Diana would have always supported him and he secretly feels Harry was her favorite. I’m sure he’s never had any therapy for any of this, so that doesn’t help either.

by Anonymousreply 49May 1, 2025 12:43 AM

R47 haha no, Diana would hate the bitch who got her claws into her precious boy.

by Anonymousreply 50May 1, 2025 12:54 AM

That’s ludicrous R50.

by Anonymousreply 51May 1, 2025 1:11 AM

The famously sane and stable Diana would have been a dream mother-in-law

by Anonymousreply 52May 1, 2025 2:08 AM

Can you site an instance, r47, where the King, Camilla, William or Catherine have belittled the Sussexes?

by Anonymousreply 53May 1, 2025 2:54 AM

[quote] No matter how much you dislike the Sussexes, they’re not the monsters in this endless display of dysfunction.

Meghan and Harry supporters are such loons.

by Anonymousreply 54May 1, 2025 4:21 AM

[quote][R47] haha no, Diana would hate the bitch who got her claws into her precious boy.

Exactly right. Overbearing mothers always feel that no woman is ever good enough for their precious son. Diana would have hated Meghan and blamed her for causing all of Harry's problems.

by Anonymousreply 55May 1, 2025 4:28 AM

[quote] Diana would have hated Meghan and blamed her for causing all of Harry's problems.

That’s the story that Meghan would have created and had her people leak to the press, the same as Meghan has done against the rest of Harry’s family.

Donald Trump has a quiet dignity compared to today’s BRF

by Anonymousreply 58May 1, 2025 4:47 AM

Diana always told Harry to support William because he would be the future king. She would not be at all happy with Harry’s behavior.

by Anonymousreply 59May 1, 2025 5:04 AM

I always thought William was Diana's favourite child. He was her confidante, her protector. I bet he had issues, but like a proper adult, has dealt with them through therapy instead of airing his dirty laundry to the world like his unhinged brother.

by Anonymousreply 60May 1, 2025 8:58 AM

I don't think Diana had a favorite.

She loved them both, equally.

by Anonymousreply 61May 1, 2025 10:46 AM

R61 I agree and to clarify what I said earlier — Diana did not have a favorite, but William THINKS she did and that’s the root of the problem between him and Harry. He always thinks Harry gets away with doing whatever he wants, up to and including marrying a woman who would have been considered unsuitable in previous generations of the royal family.

by Anonymousreply 62May 1, 2025 10:53 AM

R16 You do not sound like an arrogant cunt, no sir!
