When and why did intersex people become entangled with the LGBTQ community?
Being intersex is it deformity, not a sexuality or an identity. The TQ+ portion of the alphabet soup seems to be obsessed with intersex people and using them as pawns. In recent years, it seems like the nonbinary crowd is using intersex people to try and make an argument that there are more than two sexes, hence nonbinary identity is valid. But it seems like even trans people are obsessed with the intersexed.
It just seems like such a weird argument. Sometimes humans are born with one leg or three or four legs because of a birth defect, but we don’t therefore conclude that humans can have an infinite number of legs. So why would intersex people “prove” that sex is not binary?

I know... I know... But I couldn't resist taking a stab.
Traditionally, when a baby was born with ambiguous sex organs doctors urged parents to have surgery performed so that the child would visually conform to one sex or the other. Sadly, this was done based on visuals rather than chromosomes. The result was many intersex people being named and raised as one gender, only to have puberty rear its head and create havoc with the person's sense of self and sexual identity. This would result in things like, "I'm a man, trapped in a woman's body," or vice versa. Sound familiar? If you were chromosomally (is that a word?) male, but as an infant you were designated female and raised accordingly you might well find yourself identifying as a Lesbian after puberty, as you are sexually attracted to women... Today, most doctors will advise parents to wait until puberty before any surgical interventions are performed.
Intersex people don't "prove" that sex is not binary -but they do provide a very good example of people needing to mind their own business about how other people identify themselves. What you see on the outside may not agree with who they are on the inside. Sorting all that out is between them and their doctors -and no business of mine nor the government. I don't have to understand all of the science or the sociology to just say that people have a right to be who they are and express themselves and live their lives accordingly. Basic human rights.

Jamie Lee Curtis could have done so much for humankind if she’d just come out as intersex. WHY in hell is she uptight about being honest, now??
It would mean TONS of media attention. And frankly she always has been kind of a fame whore who just won’t shut up. So you’d think that aspect would appeal to her?

When? When asexuals, trans, questioning, queers (who are neither gay or lesbian), and "+" joined the circus.

Hasn't this rumor been filed under "urban myths" for almost as long as it's been floating around, though?

"Designated/assigned at birth" as related to transgender people is activist language that was borrowed from the world of differences of sex development (which is the current terminology for 'intersex'). It was subsequently adopted by sections of the medical establishment
The debate as to whether sex is observed and recorded or assigned/designated remains ongoing.

Exactly who is doing this entangling ?
I have never once heard anyone include or entangle intersex people with the larger queer community. Not once ever until I found DL. Now on the DL this sort of shit happens all the time, in fact I thought we had this almost exact same thread last week started no doubt by the same OP
Sane busy productive people are not having these discussions,
