Vanya starring Andrew Scott

I'm seeing it next week. Those who've seen it, how was it?

A brilliant tour de force, and that's coming from someone who has never been much of a Scott enthusiast.

The tour de force does seem to be the point of the evening, since doing it this way didn't provide any significant new insights into the play. However, unlike Dorian Gray it's an absorbing play, which poses challenges for an actor playing even one of the leads, and the audience's focus is always on the characters and not the peripherals.

Scott is utterly brilliant, but you better be familiar with the play and its characters or you'll miss out on a lot.
