I like this guy -- I'm hoping that, even if he doesn't/can't get elected president, he can do good things for the Dems.

[quote]“Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now,” he continued. “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. They must understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.”
[quote]Pritzker, the billionaire heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune, slammed his own party for its focus on “poll-tested language” and “decades of stale decorum” in elections. “For far too long, we’ve been guilty of listening to a bunch of do-nothing political types who would tell us that America’s house is not on fire, even as the flames are licking their faces,” he said. Democrats need to “stop thinking we can reason or negotiate with a madman,” he said, referring to President Donald Trump.

I live in Illinois. He’s an outstanding governor. He’d made a great president.

"President Pritzker" has a ring to it.

This is just going to come off as anti-USA to many Americans -- read the fucking room!
This isn't Europe nor Canada.
Far-left "woke" issues like open borders, DEI, trans/nonbinary, CRT are highly unpopular in the US and defending them will not get you elected nor win you new recruits.
Most Americans want all illegal immigrants out. No exceptions.

The Dems NEED a presidential candidate ASAP. We need a "leader" so every time Trump says/does something stupid, the news media will go to that person for a response. Right now we are only hearing Trump, Trump, Trump.

I don't know about that, Della @ R6. It sounds like something someone would dare you to say 10-times-FAST!

R7, at any other time in the past, I may have agreed. But have you actually watched the red state town hall meetings? I’m talking hard-core anger and rage, in places like Idaho and Wyoming. Card carrying Republicans are pissed as hell about: the VA, farms, Medicare/medicaid cuts, etc.
So for once in my lifetime, I don’t think the right will be able to rebrand this speech calling for the People to take action. AND another reason I think you’re wrong is that he was very clear that he was calling out both parties — all of America sees that we have a serious problem with *both* parties, though the problems within each party look different. All Americans are looking for someone — anyone — to stand up against this tyranny.
