Ten years ago, I sent to a Cyndi Lauper concert. She was unbelievably great. What a voice! And she played the dulcimer!!! Or, what she called, the dulsimah.

In the fullness of time, won’t ever musician ever lived get inducted?

by Anonymousreply 2April 28, 2025 2:54 AM

Joe Cock-er: DL should have a Cock Rock Hall!

by Anonymousreply 3April 28, 2025 3:12 AM

Loved Joe Cocker.

by Anonymousreply 4April 28, 2025 3:17 AM

Joe Cocker had the best back up singers.

Congrats to Cyndi. And unlike Madonna and Janet Jackson, she will be able to perform live at her induction ceremony.

Yay Cyndi.

by Anonymousreply 8April 28, 2025 3:40 AM

Love Cyndi, happy for Cyndi, but Depeche Mode and The Cure in and New Order/Joy Division out is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 9April 28, 2025 4:26 AM

R9 agree

by Anonymousreply 10April 28, 2025 4:28 AM

Wasn’t OutKast a one hit wonder? It gave me ear worm that one hit. Why isn’t Norman Greenbaum nominated if all it takes is one hit?

by Anonymousreply 11April 28, 2025 4:41 AM

Mariah wrote like 18 #1 songs, more than any of these people. She wrote the biggest Christmas song of the past few decades. wtf?

by Anonymousreply 12April 28, 2025 4:42 AM

Chubby Checker should’ve been introduced 30 years ago

by Anonymousreply 13April 28, 2025 6:13 AM

Yeah r13 I don’t know what that’s about. It’s nice to see the White Stripes get some recognition Jack White is a genius

[quote]Checker, Cocker, Bad Company and Outkast were voted in the first time they appeared on the ballot. Soundgarden made it in on the group’s third nomination, while Lauper and the White Stripes prevailed in the voting in their second ballot appearances.

[R9]. The Cure and Depeche Mode are both already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

by Anonymousreply 16April 28, 2025 8:18 PM

^^ Oops, just re-read your comment and realized that you already know that.

by Anonymousreply 17April 28, 2025 8:20 PM

Have the Fat Boys been inducted yet, ahead of New Order of course?

Happy for Cyndi but felt sorry for Mariah.

Warren Zevon was also inducted as a songwriter

R7 Paul Revere and The Raiders were a very influential rock band with garage band roots from the 1960s. They became a pretty big success and had 15 singles make it to the Top 40. And yet they were basically snubbed due to Jann Wenner arbitrary rules that the producers used session musicians on some of their tracks. They were also unofficial house band for Dick Clark's Where The Action Is, which made Wenner see them as being similar to the made for TV band, the Monkees.

They were all talented and competent musicians and singer and toured live for years.

But apparently that rule did not apply to dozens of other acts that have been inducted that had session players for ALL of their recordings. And halfway into their recording career the Raiders band members wrote more than half the songs on their albums . They deserve recognition, especially since at least half the acts in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame now are not even Rock & Roll.

How on earth has it taken them THIS long to honor Chubby Checker? The Hall of Fame should be ashamed of themselves.

And Mariah should be in there before Outkast.

by Anonymousreply 22April 29, 2025 12:07 AM

I would’ve thought Chubby Checker would’ve been in there already. What brilliant scientists are running this thing?

by Anonymousreply 23April 29, 2025 1:09 AM

Still waiting for Billy Idol.
