Ten years ago, I sent to a Cyndi Lauper concert. She was unbelievably great. What a voice! And she played the dulcimer!!! Or, what she called, the dulsimah.

Congrats to Cyndi. And unlike Madonna and Janet Jackson, she will be able to perform live at her induction ceremony.

Yay Cyndi.

Love Cyndi, happy for Cyndi, but Depeche Mode and The Cure in and New Order/Joy Division out is ridiculous.

R9 agree

Wasn’t OutKast a one hit wonder? It gave me ear worm that one hit. Why isn’t Norman Greenbaum nominated if all it takes is one hit?

Mariah wrote like 18 #1 songs, more than any of these people. She wrote the biggest Christmas song of the past few decades. wtf?

Chubby Checker should’ve been introduced 30 years ago

[quote]Checker, Cocker, Bad Company and Outkast were voted in the first time they appeared on the ballot. Soundgarden made it in on the group’s third nomination, while Lauper and the White Stripes prevailed in the voting in their second ballot appearances.

[R9]. The Cure and Depeche Mode are both already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Happy for Cyndi but felt sorry for Mariah.

R7 Paul Revere and The Raiders were a very influential rock band with garage band roots from the 1960s. They became a pretty big success and had 15 singles make it to the Top 40. And yet they were basically snubbed due to Jann Wenner arbitrary rules that the producers used session musicians on some of their tracks. They were also unofficial house band for Dick Clark's Where The Action Is, which made Wenner see them as being similar to the made for TV band, the Monkees.
They were all talented and competent musicians and singer and toured live for years.
But apparently that rule did not apply to dozens of other acts that have been inducted that had session players for ALL of their recordings. And halfway into their recording career the Raiders band members wrote more than half the songs on their albums . They deserve recognition, especially since at least half the acts in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame now are not even Rock & Roll.

How on earth has it taken them THIS long to honor Chubby Checker? The Hall of Fame should be ashamed of themselves.
And Mariah should be in there before Outkast.

I would’ve thought Chubby Checker would’ve been in there already. What brilliant scientists are running this thing?
