John has obviously played with gay ideas forever.
Is there a common thread about his jokes, does he simply use everything if it can get him a laugh, or is he intentionally confusing us? Does he poke fun at himself, 'my father thought I was gay', leaning into that, or at being gay itself? I always felt he did the former but am not so sure anymore in the last couple of years.
I don't want to support someone who is homophobic in his material.
