Directed by American Richard Fleischer, this crime film closely follows the real-life murders committed by John Christie at his London flat between 1944 and 1953. It stars Richard Attenborough, John Hurt, and Judy Geeson. Hurt received a BAFTA nomination for his performance, but the film does not seem to be widely appreciated. It is one of the most chilling true crime movies I've ever seen—maybe the most chilling. I think it is an unsung masterpiece.
Who do the murders concern?

Yeah it was creepy. I’ve only watched it once.

Expertly acted by all involved. Attenborough is diabolical in this. The scene where he murders Judy Geeson is bone-chilling. She doesn't realize what's coming, but the look in his eye and the look in hers once she realizes what's about to happen to her is one of the most unnerving things I've ever seen in a film.

I watched this on Shudder once and I was disturbed by it that I had to break it down into multiple viewings. In fact, I thought it was a series, not a movie.

R4 there was a miniseries made in 2016 titled Rillington Place, which is what you probably watched. The film is a different earlier adaptation of a book about the crimes.

Oh wow, I think you're right. I do recall what I watched being much more modern looking than 1971.
Any idea how I can terrorize myself by watching this?
