I don't think anyone has posted footage of the actual ramming, just of the area in the aftermath.

I watched the press conference with the police chief and it doesn't seem there was any guardrails in place. The chief said they do risk assessments for all events and this is the second time they had an event and just like the first time around, there was no indicators that they would need increased security protocols in place. The driver drove through the area where the food trucks were - where the actual event/performances was being held was a closed off area.

We lack resources for people who struggle with a mental illness. This is sadly common in most western countries. I'm Norwegian. I'm very depressed. I think about killing myself every day. I had a mental breakdown last year. Was committed for 5 days in the psych ward. I said I needed to stay longer, they just said "sorry, this is meant to be temporary". Then I was out and back to my depressed state. You are supposed to manage on your own. That is the mantra these days. You have to deal with it by yourself. The resources just aren't there, and apparently this is the right thing to do according to resesrch. I say BS. Some people need more help than others. We have had many mentally ill people kill others the last few years. This will continue because mental health is not prioritized. People are not getting the help they need.

My oldest son and his fiancé were in Vancouver on Saturday. I read about the car ramming on Sunday and got in touch with him. They were back in Seattle and he said if they knew about the festival they would have gone. When he & his brother were kids we would take them to all kinds of festivals.
