Cowboy Songs was a bit of a miss, his vocals completely overpowered hers.

The porch setting... guess this is the official launch of her new era, then? Goddamn gator hick husband. Well, hoping for the best when the album comes out.

Stagecoach festival is really turning into a hybrid festival - not just country. Fine by me - but I still wouldn't be around those predominantly MAGAs for a second.

They have Lana Del Rey, Backstreet Boys, Nelly, Goo Goo Dolls, and Sammy Hagar - the latter 4 being washed up 90s acts, but still.

She sounds great and looks confident here. You can also tell from the between-songs banter that she is a real sweetheart. No cunty diva energy whatsoever.

Lana Del Rey Proves She Was Always (And Also Never) Country With Stagecoach Festival Performance

The alt-pop star leaned into her Nashville inclinations in her first gig at the California country festival, but mostly just demonstrated how singular she's always sounded.

I really don't think Lana is MAGA. She was a vocal critic of Donald Trump. The reality is she's changed up her image throughout her career—she went from "gangsta" Lolita to '70s rock siren with Ultraviolence, and more recently leaned into the Laurel Canyon folk style. This is just another image shift and her dabbling in another genre. Even early in her career, she was drawing criticism for saying she "wasn't really interested" in feminism. People are complicated.

During the show she proudly announced that she didn't make her alligator husband sign a prenup. She really has gone full stupid.

r3 Sounded quite pitchy to me.

I watched her Coachella performance last year and found it very lifeless, and the set was hideous. She seems more excited to be there here and her singing is in good form. Seems more confident than usual too. She has slimmed down a lot and looks healthier. I still wish she'd get rid of the backup dancers she has, which I think has been an awful addition to her live shows in the last 5 years.

I can't hear Lana when she sings with George Birge. He's pretty charming.

r11 Are you sure about that? I think the lyrics in one of the new songs just say she wouldn't let papers stand between him and her. That could also mean tabloid gossip.

R14 I also could hardly hear her on that song. Either his mic was turned way up or they buried hers in the mix, though I'm guessing it's the former. Her vocals were at the forefront in most of the songs here, which isn't always the case with her live shows. She tends to have a smaller, more intimate vocal style unless she's belting, which is rare for her (though she can do it--she pulls it off here at the end of "Stand By Your Man").

Her first record is great, but the others have like...one good song and the rest are snoozeville. I'd like more upbeat tunes like "West Coast" and "Diet Mountain Dew."
