Bill Clinton famously lamented doing nothing to stop it. But what could he have done? I think it was the inevitable outcome of the Scramble for Africa.
Also, poor Tutsis reminded me of Tootsie Roll.

With all the feel-good political posts flooding this board recently, it’s good to see you reached into the past to drudge up some misery to balance things out. I mean, it’s not like there’s been any concerning or traumatic political news lately.
Thanks, OP. You’re a gem.

The Srebrenica genocide took place on his watch as well. He also took Ukraine's nukes away in return for a security assurance, AND he started the tradition of pardoning the party cronies and donors at the eleventh hour of the presidency.
But, the economy did (relatively) well under him, so that's what most people remember him for. Besides the blowjob, that is.

Thanks, R1! I’m reading “The Fortunes of Africa”, and the author has just reached the 90s. That prompted my post. Also, if you’re a reader, I highly recommend this book. It’s not a deep dive, but it’s a fantastic continent-wide overview.

Musevenji was behind it. He's a mass killer on the Pol Pot scale and its likely that the LRA he uses as a boogeyman never existed.
