The Craptastic White House Makeover: Despotic Golden Glamour

POTUS has smeared gold over all the Oval Office. Aren't those mantel pieces the golden doodads he stole from France? And the gold appliqués glued onto the chimneypiece - to die!

Imagine his other decorative jaunts.

It’s not the only thing he’s smeared in the Oval Office. I would imagine it reeks of fecal matter these days.

Looks like a cheap junk sale. Odds on that all of it is made in China.

The only thing further up Trump's ass than Bill Maher's face is Trump's taste in interior decorating.

The furniture in r3 is a bunch of reproductions that were installed in the White House during the late 19th century. Jackie Kennedy considered it appalling trash and replaced it with more authentic pieces during her restoration in the 60s. I wonder what she would think of this.

Well if any gold is missing from Fort Knox at least we will know where to find it.

The Trump coaster on the White House coffee table. You just know he is taking all that crap with him when he leaves, if he ever leaves.

The gold is creeping up the walls around around ceiling now. And flags are doubling every two weeks. Just to make sure you understand, that is not old plaster garlands now painted gold. It's the same stick on chintz he smears over his hotel ballrooms.

A guy on the internet wrote a story about him being a contractor for Trump at Trump tower during a remodel of his apartment. Trump fired and then rehired him, but had someone in the meantime who he also fired that installed tacky "carved" plastic panels on the dining room. Trump asked what he thought of them and and they guy said "they're cheap and tacky looking" and Trump got huffy and said, "well I think they look like hand carved ivory". Years later the guy was reading an article about the apartment and Trump brags that the panels near the ceiling are hand carved ivory.

Trump bought all that shit--rather charged it to the taxpayers--at Walmart, which came from China.

He has no taste or class, cheap piece of shit.

R13, are there cut-glass chandeliers and plush curtains and dozens of gilt mirrors, too???

by Anonymousreply 19April 28, 2025 12:23 AM

There are guilt mirrors on the walls now. I have seen them in the background in photos.

For Trump, no better looking glass could be devised and deployed than a 'guilt mirror.'

He's going to gild the ceiling and hang an honking huge "top of the line" crystal chandelier.

From the Atlantic Interview:

Trump: I did it for you. [He makes a sweeping gesture.] If you take a look back, Jeffrey, this is the new Oval Office—and people love it. Those paintings were all in the vaults. We have vaults downstairs. They have about 4,000 pictures, and I took some of the great presidents.

Goldberg: It really does look different.

Trump: Well, now it looks like it’s supposed to look. Before, they didn’t take care of it. There was no tender loving care.

Parker: Are you using your own money for the Oval Office?

Trump: Yeah, I do it on my own. You see up top? That came all out of Mar-a-Lago.

Parker: Really?

Trump: Yeah.

Goldberg: Wait, the gilded—?

Trump: Yeah, the gold. And that’s all 24-karat gold, which is interesting because they’ve never come up with a paint that looks like gold. They’ve never come up with a paint where you can just paint it and it looks like gold.

Michael Scherer: Is there truth to the rumor you’re going to do the ceiling?

Trump: Yeah, I’m doing that. The question is: Do I do a chandelier? Beautiful crystal chandelier, top of the line, beautiful. Would be nice in here. It almost calls for it, but I don’t know. We’re more focused on China, Russia.

But you know, this is all new. The George Washington was in the vaults. Most of those pictures were in the vaults. And it’s a great thing, you know. We just had the secretary-general of NATO, Mark Rutte. And we had the prime minister of Norway just preceding you. We have a lot of great relationships with people. People don’t talk about it much, but they all want to meet. So we’re trying to get the killing field ended, you know, in Russia.

As opposed to vaults upstairs.

Most observers agree that the killing field is in fact in Ukraine.
