Beyonce's latest tour looks like it's on track for bombing!

Perhaps she can commiserate with JLow and Katy Perry!

[quote] Beyonce has been ridiculed by music fans after tickets for her struggling Cowboy Carter tour hit a new low this week.

[quote] One user on X (formerly Twitter) claimed to have found resale tickets in the nosebleed section of the star's SoFi Stadium show in Los Angeles for as low as $20.

[quote] They then compared it to the cost of one of the limited edition Minecraft Movie Big Mac Meals from McDonald's, which was around the same price.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

by Anonymousreply 1April 25, 2025 11:22 PM

This is Janet Jackson territory.

by Anonymousreply 2April 25, 2025 11:26 PM

GOOD

by Anonymousreply 3April 25, 2025 11:38 PM

This bitch is over. O-V-E-R. Over.

by Anonymousreply 4April 25, 2025 11:48 PM

she got greedy with her merchandising and her longtime black fans called her out. They may not be all that enthusiastic about Beyonce country cosplay. And good for them.

by Anonymousreply 5April 25, 2025 11:51 PM

How many blacks or gays wanna go to a country concert

by Anonymousreply 6April 25, 2025 11:55 PM

Nobody wants to see her ugly talentless daughter up on stage either.

by Anonymousreply 7April 26, 2025 12:01 AM

She tours too frequently. Didn't she just have a tour like last year?

by Anonymousreply 8April 26, 2025 12:13 AM

that's what people called her on. Another album. Another tour. And "fancy" perfume none of them can afford. Taylor Swift idiots lap this shit up by Beyonce fans are not simps and suckers.

by Anonymousreply 9April 26, 2025 12:14 AM

Why can’t these women learn to hang it up? They had their time. Why can’t they just walk away with grace? They have plenty of money. Also talking to you, Mariah and Madonna. You ladies had amazing careers. Don’t let us remember you as being pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 10April 26, 2025 1:46 AM

Is anyone going to mention the elephant in the room- a $20 Big Mac? Seriously?

by Anonymousreply 11April 26, 2025 2:00 AM

Big Mac MEAL, R11. However, where I live, the Big Mac Meal is currently around $11.

Don't know where the person from the article lives and how much their Big Mac Meals are.

And before you call me a fat whore, I don't eat their food, I just get coffees and diet Cokes, so have the app.

by Anonymousreply 12April 26, 2025 2:07 AM

R12, why don't you get diet coke from Acme or Giant or whatever grocery store you have where you live? MUCH cheaper

by Anonymousreply 13April 26, 2025 10:57 AM

Who the hell goes to McDonald's just for coffee and diet cokes?

by Anonymousreply 14April 26, 2025 12:23 PM

Beyoncé is fine. She sends her love

by Anonymousreply 15April 26, 2025 12:27 PM

The problem is no obe wants to hear her sing country

by Anonymousreply 16April 26, 2025 12:28 PM

Beyonce will never “bomb”. However her approach to this era has been misguided. She needed a video-movie to go with the album since it was inspired by spaghetti Westerns. She should also give touring a rest since her fans just spent a lot of money on the last one, after which there was a full documentary on it.

The collaboration with the NFL is also ill advised from a branding perspective but that part is Jay-Z’s fault. He’s a detriment to her generally.

by Anonymousreply 17April 26, 2025 12:31 PM

Well , they could bedazzle the garter belt hooker boots and cowboyhats with metall foil confetti instead of Swarovski rhinestones. That`ll cut costs and won´t look cheaper than the Tina Knowles-ish crafty designs she normally wears.

by Anonymousreply 18April 26, 2025 1:10 PM

I have nothing against experimenting in different genres, but I can't name a single song off that damn country album of hers. She shat it out with the sole purpose of getting an award for it from people who've been creating in that genre for decades. Overdosing on her own farts at this point, and all the gays going gaga over her for unknown reasons – DEI? It sure as hell ain't talent – over the years has led her to this moment.

And then the fucking merch, which has been mentioned already. "I'm not loaded enough, give me even more of your money." Fucking obscene. When we start eating the rich, I'm gonna be pulling up at this bitch's place first.

by Anonymousreply 19April 26, 2025 1:34 PM

R16 I don’t want to listen to her sing anything

by Anonymousreply 20April 26, 2025 1:39 PM

[quote] Also talking to you, Mariah and Madonna.

Mariah pops up Nov. 1 and for almost two months is the most beloved, relevant and popular singer in the world, including topping the Billboard chart. Then she boxes herself up, counts her mountains of cash and prepares to emerge another 10 months later. That’s it.

It’s the greatest and shrewdest musical career imaginable. She will keep it going forever and laugh all the way to the bank each holiday season. And I love, love, love her for it!

Bravo, bitch 👏.

by Anonymousreply 21April 26, 2025 1:53 PM

Mariah is super lazy, and she figured out the ultimate grift to keep making tons of money every year while doing nothing. It’s pretty remarkable.

by Anonymousreply 22April 26, 2025 2:02 PM

Poor Beyoncé - she's turning into Janet Jackson. Humiliating.

by Anonymousreply 23April 26, 2025 2:07 PM

JLo’s music career in the states is dead - never forget the $8 ticket debacle - so she’s now reduced to touring Middle Eastern countries where oil sheiks will bid for her private services. At the rate her career is going, she might as well marry some shady foreign billionaire who will put up with her bullshit just to be able to take an occasional whiff of her enormous ass.

If I were the local authorities, I would inspect her tour buses for illegal arms trading. JLo is no stranger to hiding firearms.

She’s such a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 24April 26, 2025 2:43 PM

Everyone is pathetic in the end.

by Anonymousreply 25April 26, 2025 2:48 PM

Mariah’s never put out a bad album (even GLITTER has its strong points) and most of her recent releases are very underrated. She’s not a great performer though, so she doesn’t get the same attention as acts that regularly put on stadium and/or Vegas residency spectacles. She’s also hella rich so doesn’t really need touring money.

by Anonymousreply 26April 26, 2025 5:01 PM

I actually like Beyonce, but the center was never going to hold.

Unlike Madonna and Mariah (since they've been mentioned), her career felt more foisted upon us by the critics than earned over time by great songs and albums. It feel like it's not entirely organic at this point.

Other than her late 00s/early 10s hits, she really hasn't had songs that captivated the country or world. She's had moments, of course. And she's rightfully a huge pop star. Not denying that.

But it almost feels like we've been forced to accept that she is the "best who ever did it". When our eyes and ears say "she's damn good. But she's not the best."

I'm not surprised she's struggling a bit (relatively speaking).

by Anonymousreply 27April 26, 2025 5:36 PM

R27, it is so weird to me that many black people seem to genuinely believe Beyonce is as big as Michael Jackson. And they aren't just referring to pop culture influence either, they are talking about her popularity. There is no universe where that is close to being true at all. And, yes, we were ALWAYS told how great Beyonce was even when she hadn't even released a solo album yet. The ghost of Mathew Knowles lives on (yes, I know he's alive).

by Anonymousreply 28April 26, 2025 5:46 PM

If you don't mind, r27, you pretty much speak for me.

I've nothing against Beyonce.

When Streisand received her Kennedy Center Honor, that's the first time Beyonce ever caught my attention because she got the plum gig of singing "The Way We Were".

I thought she was good singing there. But, for the life of me, I really don't get her stardom.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 29April 26, 2025 5:49 PM

R27 I like Beyoncé and I agree with this. She had probably the earliest strongest most vicious fan base on social media and I think critics felt pressured into praising her for fear of backlash or racism or sexism or whatever.

All pop artists have rabid fanbases the press is scared of but Beyonce had the first.

by Anonymousreply 30April 26, 2025 5:57 PM

Yeah - she JUST had a huge tour last year. Her country album was a gimmick - fine - but that's not what people want to see.

And they just saw your ass last year and paid a huge amount to do it - nobody is going to spend that money again so soon, particularly for country.

by Anonymousreply 31April 26, 2025 5:57 PM

Her foray into C&W was cynical and badly executed. Real country fans didn’t buy it. Only her BeeHive diehards were onboard. I’ve never understood the need to canonize her the way her fanbase desires.

by Anonymousreply 32April 26, 2025 6:08 PM

People are worried about the economy. No one is spending money.

by Anonymousreply 33April 26, 2025 6:09 PM

I find it weird that she herself said her album was NOT a country album but her fans insisted it was racism for her album not to be nominated for country awards.

by Anonymousreply 34April 26, 2025 6:40 PM

R10, her last album was a hit. Why should she "hang it up"?

by Anonymousreply 35April 26, 2025 6:42 PM

R32, "real country fans" tend to prefer vocal racists like Morgan Wallen to actual black people

by Anonymousreply 36April 26, 2025 6:43 PM

R19 gives himself away as a Log Cabin gay with the "DEI" comment.

by Anonymousreply 37April 26, 2025 6:46 PM

R36 that might be true. Whatever the reason may be, they considered her to be fake. Remember these same fans almost revolted when Olivia Newton John won Country Music awards. They weren’t crazy about Taylor Swift. They totally ignored The Flying Burrito Brothers who were 100% country because they thought they were mocking country music in their Nudie suits. This ain’t about her skin color.

by Anonymousreply 38April 26, 2025 6:54 PM

Her winning Album of the Year for that country shite was the end. People are like “enough of this bitch being forced on everyone as the greatest thing ever when it’s clear she’s mediocre at best.”

by Anonymousreply 39April 26, 2025 7:17 PM

R38 - to be honest, I understand the criticism. Country music is a cultural thing - Southern or rural people primarily who listened to it their whole lives.

It feels like cultural tourism when other celebs decide to make a country album - I'm looking at YOU Gwen Stefani.

Beyonce's whole life has been urban, dance, R&B sounds. I don't care if she's from the South - she's not a country artist. Yes, you make a like a few country songs, but it's kinda ballsy to create a country album, particularly when it's not really that country.

Imagine a white male country singer doing an urban R&B album with some twang behind it and expecting black and rap fans to be behind it.

by Anonymousreply 40April 26, 2025 7:25 PM

Now, can somebody explain all the Grammies? It's mystifying.

by Anonymousreply 41April 26, 2025 7:32 PM

[quote] But it almost feels like we've been forced to accept that she is the "best who ever did it". When our eyes and ears say "she's damn good. But she's not the best."

Very astute observation and far kinder than necessary.

The media has indeed instructed the world that it must adore Beyoncé, whether you like it or not.

I don’t.

There has never been a more manufactured superstar than her. From the unspectacular music to the b.s. twenty writers per song, which always includes her for obvious publishing rights when everyone knows she didn’t do a damn thing other than “sing.” Then you have her hideous husband throwing bitch fits when she doesn’t win an award. Meanwhile, she has more Grammys than she knows what to do with. He just bullies people into voting for her and they guiltily oblige.

No outlet is more guilty than The New York Times with its breathless coverage of her, including that notorious editorial comparing her to a religion.

Utter bullshit.

I’m glad to see her tour is flopping. The utter hubris and greed that propelled her to these heights needs to be hobbled.

The empress has no clothes.

by Anonymousreply 42April 26, 2025 7:33 PM

[quote]Now, can somebody explain all the Grammies? It's mystifying.

And then explain how her hideous daughter has a Grammy.

by Anonymousreply 43April 26, 2025 7:35 PM

I had to look it up - she ended her last massive tour in Oct 2023. I know that's over 18 months ago - but it's still pretty recent.

Touring is grueling - why would you want to tour AGAIN like that? Too soon. Way too soon.

by Anonymousreply 44April 26, 2025 7:38 PM

I don’t understand why the Queen decided to behave like a greedy hooker. The economy is fucked up and she just toured. The tickets should have never been broadly so high. I said what I said. Don’t get me Beyhive.

by Anonymousreply 45April 26, 2025 7:45 PM

[quote] it is so weird to me that many black people seem to genuinely believe Beyonce is as big as Michael Jackson.

What’s even weirder is that Beyonce and Michael Jackson spent their entire careers working to appear as Caucasian as possible. Yet both are held up as the best of black entertainment.

by Anonymousreply 46April 26, 2025 7:49 PM

R46 Beyoncé accentuates her beauty and is naturally light skin. You tried it.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 47April 26, 2025 7:51 PM

It's a mini-tour. Only 32 shows in a handful of cities (multiple dates per city) over 3 months.

That's why she can't sell the tickets - she has 5 tour dates in LA, NJ, 6 in London - that's a lot of dates and tickets in the same city, for a country tour and places she just played a little over a year ago.

This was a dumb idea.

by Anonymousreply 48April 26, 2025 7:52 PM

Just because you sing with a twang for one album, it doesn’t make it country music.

That said, the categories were created through the lens of race—stick black people in “R&B” and white people in Rock and Country

by Anonymousreply 49April 26, 2025 7:52 PM

She could get out of it by faking a mysterious illness that "binds her to the ICU" the way Madonna did when her last Greatest HIts tour flopped in early ticket sales. Ironically, it was because the Material Girl didn't (and couldn't) compete with Bey and Taylor's massive stadium tours.

by Anonymousreply 50April 26, 2025 7:53 PM

She just finished a big tour. Plus her fans don’t care about country music.

by Anonymousreply 51April 26, 2025 7:53 PM

Is it cancer?

by Anonymousreply 52April 26, 2025 7:55 PM

The white hair looks ugly on her

by Anonymousreply 53April 26, 2025 8:44 PM

The Madonna "sudden illness" thing was diabolical. It was so obvious why she really pushed back her initial opening night.

by Anonymousreply 54April 26, 2025 8:53 PM

[quote]Unlike Madonna and Mariah (since they've been mentioned), her career felt more foisted upon us by the critics than earned over time by great songs and albums. It feel like it's not entirely organic at this point.

She had a quirky, unique sound that was present on her early records and especially those with Destiny's Child. But her last few records just feel assembly line manufactured and more tailored to fit certain genres than anything really authentic. And for all the shit Mariah and Madonna get for regressing, Beyonce is just as guilty. She was putting much more mature stuff in her twenties than she is now. The lyrics have become incredibly juvenile for the most part. There are moments on her dance and country CD's that are good, but its not comparable to stuff like Irreplaceable or Crazy in Love.

Her fans are a huge part of the problem. There's not a fan base more rabid and more mean spirited. And for all the cries of racism, they go out of their way to minimize or negate the impact of other black artists when it comes to putting her on a pedestal. Black female R and B artists have been dabbling in country for ages now. Donna Summer even wrote a number one hit for Dolly Parton. But they're insistent on Beyonce being the only one and portraying her as knocking doors down.

by Anonymousreply 55April 26, 2025 9:39 PM

This seems to be a recent thing where once big musical stars have a hard time coping with the fact that they're not at the same level of fame/popularity that they once were at.

Some stars become icons and with a careful curation of their career, they can remain icons. They figure out the best way to present themselves. Touring constantly worked great for The Greatful Dead but it doesn't work for every star. Beyonce or her team is greedy and think they can do a big tour cash grab all the time and...they can't. She is beloved but she doesn't have enough fans to warrant huge tours every other year.

Also: her fanbase is aging...which means they go to fewer and fewer shows.

There's also the stars who think they're still at stadium level or arena level when in reality, they're not. They don't like having to necessarily move down to summer festival level or big theater level.

by Anonymousreply 56April 26, 2025 10:23 PM

So many won't just go away and enjoy the fortune they've made when the writing is so clearly on the wall...it's pretty ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 57April 26, 2025 10:26 PM

Am I the only person who finds her singing voice unpleasant? There's a shrill quality I find very off-putting.

by Anonymousreply 58April 26, 2025 10:32 PM

R42, no one forced you to like her. A good sign of that is that you're trashing her right now

Maybe you don't like her but lots of other people do. She has plenty of platinum and multi-platinum singles and albums

by Anonymousreply 59April 26, 2025 10:33 PM

Have you seen Mariah in concert lately? She barely moves and she looks like she’s wasted.

by Anonymousreply 60April 26, 2025 10:35 PM

Anyone who thinks Beyonce is "the most manufactured" pop star ever must be really young. 🙄

by Anonymousreply 61April 26, 2025 10:35 PM

R57 Beyonce is hardly at the "she just needs to retire and go away" stage...she's only 43.

by Anonymousreply 62April 26, 2025 10:44 PM

All the "YAASSSS QUEEN!" gays on my social media act like she's a gift from God.

I don't.

by Anonymousreply 63April 26, 2025 10:49 PM

[quote] [R57] Beyonce is hardly at the "she just needs to retire and go away" stage...she's only 43.

Grads her “stage age.” Everyone knows Beyoncé is at least 50.

Not even her age is authentic.

Menopausal cow.

by Anonymousreply 64April 26, 2025 11:07 PM

LOL...it does feel like she's been around for 40 years.

by Anonymousreply 65April 26, 2025 11:15 PM

[quote]Anyone who thinks Beyonce is "the most manufactured" pop star ever must be really young.

I wouldn't say she's the most manufactured. But she's one of the least interesting superstars.

Taylor Swift gives out drama for days. Adele has hysterical over the top moments. Beyonce does her job and that's it. That's why I don't get the hysterical, over the top adoration. No Mariah quirkiness. No Diana or Aretha diva antics. No Whitney realness.

by Anonymousreply 66April 26, 2025 11:17 PM

Scanning Ticketmaster now and it does look like none of the shows are sold out. Collapse is imminent.

by Anonymousreply 67April 26, 2025 11:17 PM

[quote] Have you seen Mariah in concert lately? She barely moves and she looks like she’s wasted.

I went to her holiday concert at State Farm Arena in Atlanta last November. Sold out crowd with people attending from other states. Between Mariah and the fantastic warm-up DJ, it was the most pure fun I’ve had at a concert in years. It was like a big holiday party and she was terrific. People dressed up in seasonal garb and everyone was on their feet the entire concert.

She does an huge medley of her non-holiday hits as well so it’s more than just the Christmas music. And it’s all terrific.

If she does a holiday tour this year - she will - I’ll be there again. Could not recommend more.

by Anonymousreply 68April 26, 2025 11:18 PM

“That’s” not “grads.”

by Anonymousreply 69April 26, 2025 11:19 PM

Mariah is lucky that she has a back catalog of hits she can fall back on and even phone it in on. Does Beyonce? Apart from Destiny’s Child and Crazy in Love and Drunk in Love and Single Ladies, what would a Beyonce Greatest Hits tour look like?

by Anonymousreply 70April 26, 2025 11:22 PM

[quote]Have you seen Mariah in concert lately? She barely moves and she looks like she’s wasted.

She’s been like that since 1998.

by Anonymousreply 71April 26, 2025 11:23 PM

[quote] Am I the only person who finds her singing voice unpleasant? There's a shrill quality I find very off-putting.

She has a foghorn voice like Katy Perry. Flat with almost no range.

She doesn’t so much sing as bellow. Nothing subtle going on there.

If Beyoncé didn’t have a nice face and couldn’t dance, she’d be lucky to get a Burger King jingle.

by Anonymousreply 72April 26, 2025 11:30 PM

I know most of DL (and the world) will disagree with this, but I’ll take Katy over Beyonce ANY day. Katy just makes mindless, dance-pop music, and the world hates her for it. Meanwhile, Beyonce doesn’t even have hooks or pop music. It’s insisted it’s much more DEEP and RELEVANT than that, even when average people can’t figure out what the fuck these puffers are on about.

by Anonymousreply 73April 26, 2025 11:35 PM

R55...I completely agree & have been saying something very similar since Beyonce announced her country effort, along with her intentions of schooling the rest of us on the true origins of the genre. Sure, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle & even Dionne Warwick have all recorded country songs throughout their catalogs. But I doubt any of Beyoncé's fans are aware of that. What makes them real hypocrites, however, is that while they were calling the country music establishment, and the rest of us, racists for not embracing Bey's CC album & her history lesson at face value there have been black female country artists desperate for all the support they threw behind this album. If they really wanted to get behind supporting black voices in country music there are years worth of artists who were begging for that calibre of support. None of this started with Darius Rucker, Shaboozy or even Beyoncé, but with grassroots black singer/songwriters over the last 10 years who've been working for recognition & country music success. The Beyhive or any self-righteous critic who went overboard defending Beyonce & her foray into country cared little for her presence or any other black artists in the genre. It was more about taking another hollow, performative, hubristic aim at the ever-oppressive white patriarchal establishment. To me, it was this transparent.

by Anonymousreply 74April 26, 2025 11:39 PM

Beyonces chart “success” is all due to payola engineered by her husband. Nobody actually streams or listens to Beyoncé songs.

by Anonymousreply 75April 26, 2025 11:43 PM

[quote]Katy just makes mindless, dance-pop music, and the world hates her for it.

That’s not true. They hate her for lots of other stuff, too.

R76, if Beyonce was there instead of Katy, we'd be reading 1000000 dissertations on how Beyonce is breaking ground for black women, how this is black excellence and how her feces will make space smell good, etc.

by Anonymousreply 77April 27, 2025 1:08 AM

R77, precisely

by Anonymousreply 78April 27, 2025 1:09 AM

Beyoncé’s career and acclaim is as authentic as her pregnancy.

Nothing is real about her.

R55 Beyoncé lyrics are way more mature now than they were in her 20s.

Whole lot a red in that white and blue. History can’t be erased.

I like my baby hair, with baby hair and Afro. I let my negro nose with Jackson 5 nostrils.

"The Queen" would never be so prententious as to go into space? The same one who shot a music video in the Louvre with her husband?

by Anonymousreply 82April 27, 2025 2:17 AM

I've heard she's somewhat mentally...dull.

by Anonymousreply 83April 27, 2025 2:21 AM

R83, Wendy Williams said that.

by Anonymousreply 84April 27, 2025 2:24 AM

And yet we see who today don’t know they mafuckin right from they left. When you talk that ignorant shit about black excellence without the receipts, the negative karma comes back to you tenfold.

by Anonymousreply 85April 27, 2025 2:27 AM

She allegedly can’t read and appears mildly retarded.

She couldn’t write a random note much less a song.

by Anonymousreply 86April 27, 2025 2:27 AM

I didn't hear it from Wendy Williams, r84. I can't recall where, but it was a different source, and not WW.

by Anonymousreply 87April 27, 2025 2:27 AM

R27 nailed it. The media have overhyped Beyonce.

by Anonymousreply 88April 27, 2025 2:29 AM

She stayed at the fair too long.

by Anonymousreply 89April 27, 2025 2:37 AM

Wendy Williams always kept it real about Bouncy. I miss her presence in daytime media. It hasn’t been the same since. Now you have Jennifer Hudson, Sherri Shepherd and Tamron Hall giving softball interviews to celebrities and kissing their ass.

Texas Hold 'Em was a worldwide hit but Cowboy Carter doesn't feel like her. This is not peak material. Not a good era. Her hair is too white. She's not a country artist. Nobody needs or asked for this Jolene cover. The album cover looks similar to the last one, Renaissance. People were interested in Lemonade, it was more her story, then a victory lap of the Homecoming live album and Coachella.

by Anonymousreply 91April 27, 2025 2:44 AM

Beyonce is....bland. She's "pretty" and has a "nice" voice. But, she's nothing very special.

Whitney flamed out and we needed a new pretty black diva and Beyonce fit the bill but she isn't as charismatic as Whitney and has half of Whitney's talent.

We'e actually due for a new young, pretty, classy black diva type. Not hoochy...we have plenty of those.

by Anonymousreply 92April 27, 2025 3:52 AM

R91 Agreed. I’m still bummed THIS was the damn album that finally won her AOTY.

It’s because she got greedy. She just pulled one of the most successful tours of all time then she charges these prices in this economy. Ho please. The Queen always learns from her mistake.

by Anonymousreply 96April 27, 2025 5:54 AM

R92 Whitney was nowhere in the same league as Queen Bey with all them bland adult contemporary ballads that sound alike. Beautiful voice. Perhaps the most beautiful of all time. And her live technique for runs unmatched. But Beys music is much better.

by Anonymousreply 97April 27, 2025 5:56 AM

Beyoncé doesn’t have any classic songs or albums comparable to Whitney, Teacunt/R97. Her discography is weak. Even Rihanna has a stronger catalog than Beyoncé at this point.

[quote]JLo’s music career in the states is dead - never forget the $8 ticket debacle - so she’s now reduced to touring Middle Eastern countries where oil sheiks will bid for her private services. At the rate her career is going, she might as well marry some shady foreign billionaire who will put up with her bullshit just to be able to take an occasional whiff of her enormous ass.

This honestly sounds exactly like Janet Jackson R24. Did you confuse the names?

by Anonymousreply 99April 27, 2025 6:08 AM

I was reading the other day that she has launched a line of hair care products. Doesn’t she always wear huge wigs?

by Anonymousreply 100April 27, 2025 6:11 AM

You tried it. Multiple media outlets not owned by the same corporate companies have deemed Lemonade amongst the greatest albums of all time. Whitney’s only 2 nominations for Album of the Year were both soundtracks. Yall are just aging. Sort of like when your parents bashed the Rolling Stones because they preferred Frank Sinatra. Don’t ever try it again.

by Anonymousreply 101April 27, 2025 6:13 AM

R100 The Queen sometimes wears whole one pieces but rarely. Usually what she is wearing is a weave, which is sewn throughout her entire scalp to give her more body.

I partly blame Jay-z’s drama from that racist Tony Buzbee affecting sales of some white fraus. Some not most. Damn degenerative white lying stanking bitch.

by Anonymousreply 107April 27, 2025 6:24 AM

[quote] Multiple media outlets not owned by the same corporate companies have deemed Lemonade amongst the greatest albums of all time.

Who cares, Teacunt. Nobody talks about Lemonade. It’s not a classic or one of the greatest albums of all time. It’s been forgotten about a year after its release. Its streaming numbers are low and didn’t reach diamond status in sales (one of the key qualifiers of an album with cultural impact). “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” or “Jagged Little Pill” it ain’t.

by Anonymousreply 108April 27, 2025 6:28 AM

What do you mean even? Rihanna's the bigger artist. She's the third wealthiest musician in the world. She has 14 number-one singles, album sales estimated at 250 million units globally. (Beyonce has 9 #1s and 200M albums sold.)

by Anonymousreply 109April 27, 2025 1:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 110April 27, 2025 2:08 PM

Why do people call her the queen? I would never think of her as the biggest or best female artist.

by Anonymousreply 111April 27, 2025 3:30 PM

Taylor and Rihanna have sold more than Beyonce, who currently is the 4th best selling female artist of all time. However, she's about to drop to #5, as Ariana Grande will overtake her soon.

LEMONADE was a great album but isn’t an era she can revisit because the whole message of it is about moving on from a betrayal.

This was also the issue with COWBOY CARTER. The songs are good but people are tired of her singing about Jay-Z cheating on her. She’s been doing it for 15 years and it’s hard to keep selling a “I’m a badass queen” message when you’re simultaneously always talking about your hideous husband stepping out on you over and over. The “Jolene” cover was a mistake for this reason, especially since her interpretation of it is completely blaming the other woman in her scenario. Even her most ardent fans do not want to hear this anymore. RENAISSANCE did well partly because it was a concept album that had nothing to do with this theme.

by Anonymousreply 113April 27, 2025 3:52 PM

I can't stand her voice, race to change the station if any of her songs come on, "All the Single Ladies" makes me want to stab people around me, and I'm SICK of her and her husband. I don't think she's especially talented, and I agree with many on here that she's purely manufactured. Add in the fake pregnancy (pillowgate) and she really just needs to go away.

Oh yeah, and now having her daughter shoved down our throats as well. ENOUGH ALREADY.

by Anonymousreply 114April 27, 2025 4:14 PM

She's another very, very lucky person. Pretty girls like her are a dime a dozen.

Say what you want of her, but the woman has been the most consistent big female touring act of the last 4+ decades. So much for 'pathetic'.

[quote] the way Madonna did when her last Greatest HIts tour flopped in early ticket sales

False. Madonna was selling so well she added dates (started with 35, ended in total with 81). The illness actually had a negative effect on sales afterward, due to necessary rescheduling. All venues were full in the end though.

by Anonymousreply 116April 27, 2025 4:36 PM

R108 Everybody talks about it Lemonade in my circle. Is it Thriller NO. Is it an Oscar nominated film. Yes. I’ll let you figure out what that means.

Beyoncé’s Thriller was Single Ladies Put a Ring on It.

by Anonymousreply 117April 27, 2025 4:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 119April 27, 2025 4:58 PM

Thriller was imaginative, something we'd never heard or seen before.

Single Ladies/Put a Ring on It was about a woman whining that a man needs to marry her or else (or something along those lines, who cares?)...it's so everyday/pedestrian/stupid.

They aren't even in the same category. And I'm not particularly a Michael Jackson fan, either.

r118, are you for fucking real? Delusional, party of 1, your table is ready!

by Anonymousreply 131April 27, 2025 5:49 PM

Yeah I don’t think streaming numbers should ever be compared to album sales before streaming existed. It gives a very false sense of cultural impact. No pop artist who emerged in the streaming era is anywhere near as famous or impactful as Madonna was during her peak, and her peak was nearly two decades long.

by Anonymousreply 132April 27, 2025 5:52 PM

What's incredible about Rihanna is that she has not released any real music since 2016 but she destroys Beyonce on Spotify. Since 2016, Beyonce released 3 albums. You'd think she'd be way more popular on Spotify than she is considering how hyped she is, but no. I realize her music was pulled from Spotify for Tidal but it's been years since her catalogue returned. As of today, Rihanna literally gets double Beyonce's streams. That's wild.

R147 Ho please. Rihanna released about 9 albums in a decade. I think just recently the Queen finally matched her album count.

by Anonymousreply 149April 27, 2025 6:49 PM

This is my last comment on this petty thread but it should be pointed out that my very first comment here compared The Queen to a greedy hooker. You just toured and inflation is off the hook. Mafuckin nosebleed seats going for the same price as the #2 cheeseburger meal. Where they do that at 😂. Beyoncé knows goddam well she should have been more modest.

by Anonymousreply 150April 27, 2025 6:54 PM

R149, she has not released anything since 2016. Common sense would suggest the artist still releasing hit albums would get stronger numbers on Spotify. But Beyonce doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 151April 27, 2025 6:56 PM

r145 Semantics. It's a dumb, annoying song and with it, she added nothing but some bitch-ass, whiny (not to mention repetitive) anthem that almost half the people I know can't stand and want to throw something when it comes on.

But why am I blaming her? She probably just added a few words here and there and then PRESTO! she's the writer of the song. If she's Queen of anything, it's got to be artifice.

by Anonymousreply 152April 27, 2025 6:57 PM

R151 From like 2004 to 2014, Rihanna released 7 albums. The Queen only released three. Additionally, a significant portion of the Queen’s fanbase are older Millenials and young Gen X. They don’t stream. They buy. Or listen on YouTube.

Common sense.

by Anonymousreply 153April 27, 2025 7:01 PM

[quote] The Queen only released three

According to wikipedia, she released five. Additionally, despite having hit singles early on, Rihanna's albums weren't big until her third (Good Girl Gone Bad)). Beyonce's first album was a huge success and it was released in 2003. You'd expect her to be getting similar or slight less streams than Rihanna. You would NOT expect someone who released their last album almost 10 years ago to be getting DOUBLE Beyonce's streams.

by Anonymousreply 154April 27, 2025 7:09 PM

I want to fuck Rihanna. Like seriously.

by Anonymousreply 155April 27, 2025 7:11 PM

Correction--Beyonce released five from 2003 to 2014. Rihanna released seven. A difference, sure. But if Beyonce is as big as the hype, you'd expect someone known as "the queen" to be getting the same or more streams than Rihanna.

by Anonymousreply 156April 27, 2025 7:11 PM

Why hasn’t Beyoncé been able to have success as an actress? She’s so wooden and the charisma she has on stage doesn’t translate to films.

by Anonymousreply 157April 27, 2025 7:22 PM

Rihanna has an edge to her. A certain X-factor thing in her voice and style. Beyonce doesn't have such imo. She's more like a cult figure. Even her nickname "Queen Bee (Bey)" is just so unimaginative. We get it. Your name's first syllable is a Bee and you're supposedly a queen and therefore, your fans are the Bee Hive. *Snooze*

by Anonymousreply 158April 27, 2025 7:23 PM

R157 All her films have been successful though, she just stopped doing them. The Lion King made over a billion dollars.

“Simbah come home”

by Anonymousreply 159April 27, 2025 7:24 PM

The Lion King was not "her" film.

by Anonymousreply 160April 27, 2025 7:42 PM

r158, Camille Paglia is a crank but she was right when she pointed out the big difference between Rihanna's sexiness vs Beyonce. She said that Rihanna seems much more laidback and someone you could imagine yourself having fun with. Beyonce? Not so much.

by Anonymousreply 161April 27, 2025 7:43 PM

Country music just isn’t that appealing Even When Beyoncé does it

by Anonymousreply 162April 27, 2025 7:44 PM

Rihanna is cooler than Beyonce. She's mysterious too. We're not really forced to think about her personal life too much. Not sure how much of that is by design.

by Anonymousreply 163April 27, 2025 8:01 PM

Rihanna is cooler but she likes her drugs. Both ladies really struggle with their weight.

by Anonymousreply 164April 27, 2025 10:58 PM

Rihanna's songs are far catchier and edgier than Beyonce's as well. And she knew when to quit, for performers it can be hard giving up the limelight.

Beyonce's management has bad taste in songs/singles.

by Anonymousreply 168April 28, 2025 4:13 AM

She was ok in Dreamgirls because she was playing Diana Ross...the original Beyonce.

by Anonymousreply 169April 28, 2025 4:33 AM

I will say Beyoncé has a beautiful smile that sucks you in and looks absolutely authentic.

by Anonymousreply 170April 28, 2025 5:00 AM

Beautiful eyes as well, at least when she was younger, and nice golden skin. Jay Z was always punching.

by Anonymousreply 171April 28, 2025 10:18 AM

She was pretty good as Etta James in CADILLAC RECORDS.

Same issue most pop stars have with acting, generally, though. Once you create that larger than life cartoon persona, it’s hard for audiences to believe you as anyone else. There are some rare exceptions of good performances but usually they involve the person playing a character who is also a pop star (Gaga in A STAR IS BORN, J-Lo in SELENA).

by Anonymousreply 172April 28, 2025 10:48 AM

I like Beyonces voice when she isn’t doing the guttural noise but I only enjoy four of her songs and it seems like she has about 100. Rhianna has a shitty voice but I like almost every song—and she is prettier.

by Anonymousreply 173April 28, 2025 12:30 PM

R172 Oh, my God, no. She was AWFUL as Etta James. Even Etta's family members said Beyonce's portrayal was nothing like the real Etta.

And from a physical standpoint, Etta was kind of short and squat. At that time, Beyonce was tall and thinner and statuesque.

by Anonymousreply 174April 28, 2025 12:50 PM

Beyonce has the same problem when it comes to acting that Madonna has. When you watch her, she looks like she's telling herself, "Try to make it look like I'm not acting," which makes it look exactly like she's acting.

by Anonymousreply 175April 28, 2025 12:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 179April 28, 2025 2:13 PM

[quote] Why hasn’t Beyoncé been able to have success as an actress?

When it comes to being a movie star, you either have it or you don't. And I'm not talking about acting ability, although you need to be able to carry a movie.

Patti LuPone was right when she called Madonna a "movie killer." She had no onscreen charisma or likability. Beyonce just comes across as dumb and flat onscreen. It's wild because they both have so much charisma onstage, but it doesn't translate at all to a 30x60 foot movie screen.

Compare that to Streisand, Ariana Grande, Cher, Gaga and Midler who are charismatic supernovas onscreen. Some women can just light up a screen, but you cannot teach it.

by Anonymousreply 180April 28, 2025 2:29 PM

Cafsgg egegg titudhx.

by Anonymousreply 181April 28, 2025 2:36 PM

R177 If you notice the singers who were previously known for bad acting when they do deliver a good performance it’s from an acclaimed director. Beyoncé needs to hook up with Spike Lee. She was competent in Dreamgirls, it’s just the final act of the film falls apart to me. Her best performance is Goldmember.

by Anonymousreply 182April 28, 2025 2:42 PM

She’s a limited talent mercilessly pushed by her grasping parents. And yes r182 she peaked with Foxy Cleopatra.

by Anonymousreply 183April 28, 2025 3:12 PM

I agree with you, R180, though I’d be inclined to put Midler in the same camp as Beyoncé and Madonna. Without a very strong director, on film, you can really see Midler counting steps, too. All three of them are true show ponies on stage (or were in Madonna’s case), but I think that often comes with a studied quality that reads flat on film.

Streisand, Carey and Grand can often feel surprisingly tentative and inhibited as live performers, but really crackle in their film outings.

Gaga is very Liza Minnelli to me - she’s good-to-great, but I’d only ever cast her in things that are served by that “love me, love me!” neediness or in something archly comedic like Arrested Development.

Jennifer Lopez is a good-but-not-great natural actress within her range and a sexy and charismatic stage performer, but a weak singer with none of the distinctiveness of Madonna or Rihanna and she’s hampered by terrible taste.

For all the jokes Cher took back in the day, I think she’s the most successful pop diva-actress of all time.

by Anonymousreply 184April 28, 2025 3:13 PM

[quote] Gaga is very Liza Minnelli to me - she’s good-to-great, but I’d only ever cast her in things that are served by that “love me, love me!” neediness or in something archly comedic like Arrested Development.

Same, she and Minneli both give off major theatre kid energy, but Minnelli had more of a glamour to her, probably due to being the daughter of Hollywood royalty and her appearance (she wouldn't be out of place in a 1920s movie).

by Anonymousreply 185April 28, 2025 3:18 PM

Anyone who says Beyonce is minimally talented is obviously just hating. Even if you don’t care for the music to not acknowledge her musical diversity and talent is just insulting. Like have you seen the Homecoming documentary.

by Anonymousreply 186April 28, 2025 3:40 PM

That’s a very accurate comparison of Gaga to Liza actually. Very spot on. I’ll add Liza seemed more glamorous because she was actually very attractive when young. Gaga has always just been ok looking.

by Anonymousreply 187April 28, 2025 3:42 PM

[quote] Gaga has always just been ok looking.

She is actually better looking now, I thought she was genuinely ugly at the beginning which is why she wore all those crazy masks and costumes.

by Anonymousreply 188April 28, 2025 3:52 PM

Also Rihanna has released music since her 2016 studio album, including helming the soundtrack for Black Panther 2. All those features and one off singles contribute to streaming numbers.

by Anonymousreply 189April 28, 2025 3:56 PM

Nicki Minaj’s streaming is a lot higher than artists more popular than her because urban/hip-hop acts release so much music when you include all there features and collaboration tracks. The real signifier is that Taylor’s numbers are significantly higher than her nearest competition. That is meaningful, not an arbitrary cumulation of streaming totals.

by Anonymousreply 190April 28, 2025 3:59 PM

[quote] Anyone who says Beyonce is minimally talented is obviously just hating. Even if you don’t care for the music to not acknowledge her musical diversity and talent is just insulting. Like have you seen the Homecoming documentary.

No, what the fuck is the "Homecoming" documentary, and why would I have watched it if I don't care for Beyonce? I've never even heard of it.

Beyonce is a fucking show pony - that's what you don't realize. Wind her up and watch her go! She's like an AI Real Doll...there's really nothing there but what she's programmed to do.

by Anonymousreply 191April 28, 2025 4:02 PM

[quote] Beyonce is a fucking show pony - that's what you don't realize. Wind her up and watch her go! She's like an AI Real Doll...there's really nothing there but what she's programmed to do.

On the money description.

Everything about her is manufactured. It doesn’t seem like there’s an original thought that pops into her mind. The fact they hide her from the press further raises suspicion that she’s so limited that they fear any creative questions could blow her circuitry.

She’s really not that different than a blender or a can opener. Only people have use for those appliances.

by Anonymousreply 192April 28, 2025 4:15 PM

The resistance to Beyoncé and its pushback reminds me of Shadeur Sanders and the NFL. You can’t just tell everyone that a performer and/or athlete is outstanding if their eyes and ears tell them something different. Beyoncé has JayZ behind her, just like Shadeur has daddy Prime Time. Eventually, the customer makes the choice and if the product ain’t up to standards, they’ll move on.

by Anonymousreply 193April 28, 2025 4:52 PM

R139 what an absurd comparison. Beyoncé has been in the industry over 20 years. This is even a flop a flop, just underperformance of a mini tour after she just completed a world tour 2 years ago. Some of yall just love to hate the Queen.

It’s the economy stupid.

by Anonymousreply 194April 28, 2025 5:11 PM

I actually like her, but I feel like with Beyoncé there’s a whole politburo around her straightjacketing her into being an “Artiste” who is part Grace Jones, part Sade, part Anita Baker, part Kate Bush, part Kate Middleton and part Queen of Wakanda - and I feel like the OG Beyoncé, the big ol’ country girl in the tacky getups designed by her mom, is actually (and endearingly) who she really is.

by Anonymousreply 195April 28, 2025 5:17 PM

Bombing before it even begins? This is Madonna 2023 territory.

by Anonymousreply 196April 28, 2025 5:24 PM

r194 it's not the economy. Plenty of people in our country will pay money to go see their favorite artist, to the point of maxing out their credit cards/borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. People are pretty self-serving and will expend funds on things that others may see as frivolous, like over-priced concert tickets, DisneyWorld, etc.

What it really is - it's that people are just not that into her anymore. She's worn out her welcome. She's like that kid in the neighborhood who is constantly on your doorstep, asking if you want Girl Scout Cookies, or whether you will sponsor her in the Walk-A-Thon, or donate to help her go on the class trip to Fiji, or will buy chocolate bars to help the band get new uniforms...you get the picture.

People are sick of her/over it.

R185 I agree about Gaga's theater kid vibes. I think she even happily owns that! Her Coachella set was all theater and it totally worked in that medium.

But I watched the god awful Joker 2 movie recently and I was rather surprised by her performance. I assumed she would be terrible. But she wasn't at all. She was subdued and quiet yet anger and crazy was percolating just below the surface. A very layered performance. Frankly, she was the only bright spot for me and I think she was vastly underused in the film.

Made me think maybe Gaga could be a truly fantastic actress if she commits to it.

by Anonymousreply 198April 28, 2025 5:57 PM

Begonce is just not that interesting.

by Anonymousreply 199April 28, 2025 6:04 PM

[QUOTE] you notice the singers who were previously known for bad acting when they do deliver a good performance it’s from an acclaimed director.

Agree. Harry Styles' first film was second lead in Dunkrik. Christopher Nolan coaxed a good performance out of him but he was mediocre in Don't Worry Darling and My Policeman.

by Anonymousreply 200April 28, 2025 9:06 PM

R117 I wish Mariah would do more acting. That performance in Precious was against type and she delivered a very convincing, moving performance. You actually forget that this is superstar diva Mariah Carey in that role.

by Anonymousreply 201April 28, 2025 9:52 PM

Sorry, I meant R177

by Anonymousreply 202April 28, 2025 9:53 PM

R198 Agreed. I keep telling people, Gaga is an excellent actress. People just want to be cunty about a mainstream pop star being so good on film because we’ve become so cynical about pop stars and “authenticity”. Authenticiyy is equated with intelligence. And we expect our actors to be intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 203April 28, 2025 11:24 PM

I would be shocked if Beyoncé even knew how to write a check. She seems like she would need help navigating a crosswalk.

I guess they feed her lyrics through an earpiece due to the illiteracy. Such a terrible role model for today’s youth.

by Anonymousreply 204April 29, 2025 1:08 AM

R180 I see what you did there. Gaga is not a movie star and never will be.

by Anonymousreply 205April 29, 2025 1:16 AM

Maybe it’s a good time for her to turn in her cowgirl hat for an astronaut’s helmet and blast off to Mars to record her next album and shoot its video there (?). 🛸

by Anonymousreply 206April 29, 2025 3:23 AM

Supposedly her next album is going to be Rock/Funk. Who but Bey could do this. So much damn soul.

R83 I'll never forget this campaign video where Beyoncé wrote a letter to Michelle Obama that appeared, at best, to be written by a 12 year old. My favorite part is when she uses "u" instead of "you." In a letter to the First Lady!

Beyoncé comes across as dumb and robotic. That’s why she can’t act.

by Anonymousreply 213April 29, 2025 11:05 AM

R207-“So much soul”…in her team of 50 that do everything for her except sing/perform the songs.

by Anonymousreply 214April 29, 2025 11:45 AM

She’s a child star essentially and they’re barely educated. Michael Jackson, Bieber, and Britney all have the same issues.

by Anonymousreply 215April 29, 2025 11:59 AM

I’m sure it took several crayons for her to properly convey her deep, sincere sentiments. 🖍️

by Anonymousreply 216April 29, 2025 12:25 PM

[quote] She’s a child star essentially and they’re barely educated.

At 50, she has no excuse not being able to read. Does her hideous husband keep her locked away like Rapunzel to keep her from gaining knowledge and independence? It sounds like a hostage situation.

by Anonymousreply 217April 29, 2025 12:28 PM

R201...I think Mariah Carey got so much applause for her roll in Precious merely because of the presentation. But it's not a huge stretch for an actress to remove her make-up & deliver lines with no expression at all.

by Anonymousreply 218April 29, 2025 12:35 PM

"Cowboy Carter" sounds childish, and everything I've heard from the album (2 songs) struck me as dirge-like in her ponderous voice.

by Anonymousreply 219April 29, 2025 1:37 PM

It’s too bad she never learned to read.

by Anonymousreply 220April 29, 2025 1:52 PM

Would Michelle Obama really idolize someone of her stature who was illiterate. Get real.

by Anonymousreply 221April 29, 2025 1:55 PM

Beyoncé is the epitome of mediocrity and greed. She never should have allowed her parents to fire her voice coach. She stopped using him with the end result that her voice is sometimes warbly and off-key. But her parents were so impatient and fucking greedy that they couldn’t wait until she was properly trained. I have heard cruise ship entertainers sing better than her.

by Anonymousreply 232April 29, 2025 6:21 PM

Back to back tours was a terrible idea.

by Anonymousreply 233April 29, 2025 6:28 PM

Taylor Swift has gone quiet and probably won’t tour again for at least a couple of years.

The COMPLETE GHETTO TRASH in her concert VIP lounge is just appalling and telling.

by Anonymousreply 240April 29, 2025 8:34 PM

What exactly is ghetto about Beyonce. I mean she can be ghetto fabulous. But ghetto ghetto?

by Anonymousreply 241April 29, 2025 8:40 PM

North West is a much cuter kid than Beyonce's kid. And she's making bank on Tik Tok.

by Anonymousreply 250April 29, 2025 9:48 PM

I actually think Blue Ivy looks much better than Beyonce nowadays. She really looked like Jay Z when she was younger but she's starting to look way better as time goes on.

by Anonymousreply 251April 29, 2025 9:51 PM

R249 Her face and neck are looking every second of her 51 years.

Yes, North West is cute and has a name that is never not hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 253April 29, 2025 9:52 PM

R251 I've invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in surgeries and procedures to make sure she didn't end up looking like that gargoyle I married.

by Anonymousreply 254April 29, 2025 9:52 PM

R248 Are you saying that to just to say that. I’m a dancer. That little kid has rhythm. I wouldn’t just say that because it’s pre-teen black child. She has a lot of rhythm actually. If she were stiff I would admit it.

by Anonymousreply 258April 30, 2025 1:32 AM

I can’t imagine spending an evening with a bunch of low-rent Beyonce fans who paid $40 for a clearance ticket listening to that garbage noise while she dances around in a cowboy hat.

Thankfully, her career is rolling downhill like a mudslide of shit so it won’t be long before she’s an oldies act no one cares about.

by Anonymousreply 259April 30, 2025 2:20 AM

No surprise the NYTIMES loves her show.

by Anonymousreply 260April 30, 2025 3:17 AM

I think the desecration of the Louvre was the beginning of the end. It was painfully, criminally clear that Beyonce would never escape her own tackiness and self-importance. And I kind of like her and rooted for her several times in her career. She's a dumb bitch, but pretty and talented in her way, and I don't think any of managers and co-creators have served her well.
