Breaking: F.B.I. Arrests Wisconsin Judge in Immigration Dispute
F.B.I. Director Kash Patel said on Friday that agents had arrested a county judge in Milwaukee on charges of obstructing immigration enforcement. A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals confirmed the arrest of a sitting judge, a major escalation in the Trump administration’s battle with local authorities over deportations.
The bureau arrested Judge Hannah Dugan on suspicion that she “intentionally misdirected federal agents away from” an immigrant being pursued by federal authorities, Mr. Patel wrote on social media. He later deleted the post for reasons that were not immediately clear. An F.B.I. spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
She was harboring...
No, she was conducting a hearing in her courtroom. All defendants, regardless of their immigration status, have the right to due process. This "arrest" wasn't about finding or arresting an immigrant, it was about destroying this right. This judge wasn't harboring this crook, she was ensuring that his conviction wouldn't be overturned on mistrial or due process errors. Nothing angers the public more than a clearly guilty criminal going free on a technicality. And ultimately, she was protecting the victims and holding their right to a speedy trial addressing their wrongs at the heart of her action.
The stupid part was that the FBI/ICE agents didn't have to enter the courtroom, disrupt the proceedings, and certainly, didn't have to involve a judge doing her job. They shouldn't have been in the courthouse [italic]at all.[/italic] And doesn't it rather expose agents and the DOJ writ large as incapable and out-of-their-league when they have to rely upon local law enforcement to find these undocumented immigrants, or worse when they have to defy precedent [bold]and[/bold] the law in order to capture alleged criminals?
This whole misguided incident exposes the Trump administration for what it is: incompetent lawyering, overly aggressive prosecution, and wanton disregard for the rule of law, precedent, and individual rights. IOW, a fascist dictatorship. I'm no fan of judges after a business career in which I've dealt with lawsuits from big to small, and in addition to the example cited with the New Mexico judge and his wife, I could show dozens of examples of judges not behaving up to the standards by which their profession demands. But judges are humans and make mistakes and break the law, but even they are owed due process. We have a system built upon due process for a reason — a reason for which we're about to be reminded why it exists and has been the accepted form of justice in the US for centuries. And, ironically, it was due process that allowed Trump to delay his trials long enough to be free to run for the presidency. So, justice for me, but not for thee.
Unless there are extenuating circumstances to which we're not privy, the best outcome from this kerfuffle would be the FBI/ICE agents and their superiors who okay-ed this arrest of the judge on a procedural (less-than) warrant be dismissed, Patel and Bondi brought before Congressional hearings to defend their actions and possible dismissal (impeachment), and the Courts asserting their independence fully. We cannot allow an out-of-control DOJ run by rhetorical children to wreak havoc on trials, hearings, or any judicial proceeding. We already have an appellate system of disputing judicial decisions — as John Roberts reminded Trump just a few months ago. Judges must remain free to issue opinions and rulings to mete justice. Anything else is a betrayal of everything this country holds dear.

R122 And what are the laws for people who are deported and return to the country illegally and then are alleged to have committed assault? I am not defending that judge, but I think her point was they needed to catch that guy any other place than invading her court room. Escorting him out through the side door was maybe her way of saying that to them. She did say as long as it was in a public place it was not part of her control.
I mean really, if these losers have been tracking down this guy, why wait until he shows up to court? Trump bros always taking the easy way out. Just like they did the other day in LA where they went and picked up more than a dozen day laborers who stand outside of Home Depot every day hoping for an honest days work by contractors or home owners who are willing to hire them.

R124 And the reason those proceedings were not allowed to have their outcome is because Judge Dugan allowed the defendant to leave the courtroom during the hearing while two of the people he allegedly assaulted sat there. It seems to me that Judge Dugan has a cavalier attitude toward the law.

The Tish James charges are also bogus.
Lowell wrote that the allegation that James listed a Virginia property as her primary residence "absolutely ignored her very clear and all caps statement two weeks earlier to the mortgage loan broker 'this property WILL NOT be my primary residence,'" but will rather be the primary residence of her niece. Lowell said emails with the mortgage broker at the time show that the broker understood this, and that the home would indeed be the primary residence of her niece.
As to the allegation that her Brooklyn home has five residences and she applied for a loan meant for residences with four units, Lowell points to a 2011 loan application confirming it's a four-unit property, as well as city records showing it is a four unit property.
As to the allegation that James was listed as a "spouse" on a mortgage application filled out by her father, Lowell writes the "actual May 20, 1983 deed lists her father 'and Letitia James, his daughter.'"
Haven’t we gotten to the point where if MAGA makes a charge, you already know they are lying? 9 years of this bullshit and counting.

According to federal charges filed against Judge Dugan, she allegedly helped Flores-Ruiz evade arrest by directing ICE agents away from her courtroom and escorting him through a non-public area of the courthouse.
The two victims, who were in the court hearing, say they heard Judge Dugan tell Flores-Ruiz and the lawyer that he needed to speak with immigration officials. They say they saw them go through a door in the courtroom, but didn't know what happened next.
Flores-Ruiz was later apprehended after a foot chase outside the building.

Does it matter? They were all HOMICIDES! So if someone shoots you during a dispute on the street or entering your house, that's not as big of a deal? If they intended to rob you but you just got in the way so they just causally shot you without a second though its not as bad? I think that's actually worse.
By the way some of or many of those murders WERE planned and some shot more than one victim. Oh but don't shoot a big wig CEO or business man who's destroyed many lives by cutting off their medical coverage, lets clutch our pearls over that.

R146, maybe so, but must assassination only happen once, and probably very rare. Random murders happen every day and no one is safe on the streets as long indiscriminate thugs, gangs, criminals will shoot anyone who gets in their way or wont give them their wallet.
Luigi had no criminal record and he was NOT an assign, so really it was no different than the thousands of premeditated murders that happen every day of the year.
The legal definition of an assignation involves political figures like judges, or elected officials not CEOs. And it usually involves payment for that job. So even someone like John Lennon who was famous and had political view point was not considered an assignation, it was a common every day 1st Degree Murder charge.

They pulled this shit again like 4 days ago with a young guy who showed up to his scheduled court date and the judge actually ended up dismissing his minor charges. A group of J6-looking thugs with no identification and no arrest warrant cornered him in the court room to kidnap him.
Because THAT'S what's gonna make America safer--making it so that immigrants or brown people stop showing up for court at all because they can't trust they won't be immediately disappeared to a death camp.
These cowardly ICE goons love showing up to do their kidnapping at courthouses, schools, libraries, and other government buildings, because they know that concealed carry is forbidden in these places and they won't have to deal with someone potentially defending themselves when a group of violent, masked criminals throws a bag over their head and tosses them into the back of a van while pissing all over the constitution.
