Morgan.

Yes, I know there was Morgan le Fay, and I like both Fairchild and Brittany (née Suzanne Cupito), but I still prefer it as a man’s name as in Freeman and the late Stevens.

"George" for women always rubbed me the wrong way when I was reading those Enid Blyton books as a kid. So ugly on women, but perfectly fine on men.

by Anonymousreply 26April 26, 2025 3:19 AM

Isn't Sasha actually a diminutive of Alexander?

by Anonymousreply 27April 26, 2025 6:25 AM

Yes, although I've never been able to wrap my head around Russian diminutives. They make no sense to me and I'm a native Slavic speaker.

I like Tracy better as a male name.

Kelly, Stacy, and Courtney are also good male names.

by Anonymousreply 29April 26, 2025 7:05 AM

Shannon.

I’d name a boy Shannon.

[quote]I like Tracy better as a male name.

I would burst out laughing if I came across a male named Tracy R29.

by Anonymousreply 37April 26, 2025 2:27 PM

R27, Sasha is the shortform of Aleksasha, a diminutive of Aleksandr and Aleksandra.

Similar in form to:

Maria -> Masha

Natalia -> Natasha

Pavel -> Pasha

Valentine, Ryan, and Kyle are not unisex names. They are male names.

by Anonymousreply 46April 26, 2025 3:41 PM

They’re unisex nowadays

by Anonymousreply 47April 26, 2025 3:46 PM

They're unisex for pretentious cunts you mean R47.

by Anonymousreply 48April 26, 2025 3:48 PM

All names are up for grabs; language is a virus. To argue otherwise is to cone across as an elderly pedant.

If you scan the Top 200 baby names online, you see a dozen or more formerly male names that newborn girls’ parents are now choosing. Riley, Parker, Avery, Addison, etc.

You see none of this in reverse, over on the baby boy names.

The one-way flow (boy names can migrate to the girl list but girl names never migrate to the boy list) is probably a reflection of the stuff described in the spoken intro to What It Feels Like For a Girl.
