Tasteful Friends: Check out this Euro old money, art-adorned flat in Valencia (Spain)

I can’t help but imagine stories about the person/family who lived here.

€1.3 million euros. A steal!

It's actually pronounced Valenthia. Just fyi.

Valencia is one of my favorite places in Spain.

The apartment is nice. Not quite my thing. But I wouldn't say no.

Some unfortunate remuddling in evidence which detracts from the overall appeal of the place.

Nice apartment, and beautifully furnished bar the kitchen and bathroom which look as of they belong to a completely different property. They're functional enough but jarringly out of place and in a drab grey which makes them look uninviting

R2 I’m wanting to spend more time there on my next visit to Spain. I was planning on visiting Valencia again last year but I was due to arrive just as the city and surrounding suburbs and small towns had gotten their asses kicked by flooding - so I went south to Granada instead and did more my usual routine in Andalucía. But for one of their larger cities Valencia can be very fascinating to explore.

Like Valencia itself, I'm not especially taken with the apartment.

No doubt it was once much more to my taste, but there's very little left of how it once looked. The wood flooring is all new, the weird ceiling treatments, the canned lights that punctuate the ceiling, all that Franco-era mahogany (though I suppose it's ideal were you to recreate the lost interiors from the TV series Hart to Hart, or maybe a Colombo episode.) They should have been more elegant rooms with colorful hydraulic tile flooring (if you're lucky it's underneath all that modern diagonal wood flooring.) The bathrooms are primed for a cocaine party. It's too much1970s and too little 1928, even the quite recent kitchen has a strong 1970s feel.)

The plan is good, with just two proper bedrooms (one rearranged to be en suite, plus the large dressing room (fitted out entirely in Ikea units.) The best feature, though, are the views of one of the central and beautiful intersections, impressive even if busy with traffic. The 1970s stuff could be undone and the place given a more classic look appropriate to the 1928 building, but I'd rather have this one, quite possibly in the same building, for €450,000 less. It has the same views, a large balcony, a good plan with up to 5 bedrooms easily arranged, and it has much more of its original character. You could expand the kitchen into the adjacent room, for example for a large space, and put the principal bedroom to use as another reception room if you wanted. The only thing to undo really are the ugly kitchen and bathrooms.
