Met him about a decade ago when I was younger and cuter, but even then his face was a grotesque distortion with all the plastic, and fillers and botox. Yuck.

There's an ongoing story in The Andy Warhol Diaries about Dolly buying a portrait of Sandy, but then changing her mind, and wanting a refund. I won't quote it all here, but I'll leave a link.

In the photo in the OP, taken in 1986 at a house party he had, Parton said in an interview that it was the first time she was in the same 'close space' as Barbra so she went up to say hi and introduce herself. She had also wanted her to know she had written a song she thought would be perfect as a duet with her. However Streisand , who only hired Gallin in that gap year when she dropped Peters as her manager and hadn't yet signed with Marty, supposedly didn't go beyond the introduction phase, didn't make conversation - just said 'hello' and walked away and went to talk to someone else at the party. Dolly said she was hurt, and figured Barbra 'just doesn't like her' . It was the only time she ever had the opportunity to be face to face with her, and she was disappointed. She said something along the lines of : "I don't know what I ever did, but she was not nice to me. I guess she doesn't like me."

David Sedaris told a story during his live show about how Sandy took him to Dolly Parton's empty UES apartment so David could gawk at it. Apparently it's not "hillbilly themed" and she has really fancy art.

R12, Yes, I devoured The Andy Warhol Diaries when they were first published, and still remember SO MANY anecdotes from them. The comments have a way of sinking in, like calling Sue Mengers "a pig": it makes me chuckle to this day.

I remember that Spy magazine supplied an index because the original Diaries did not. Before that, I read that It must have driven people crazy trying to find their names and what scandalous things AW may have written about them.

I stand corrected on two things: Streisand employed Gallin as her manager briefly around 1981, not 1985, when she dropped Sue Mengers as her manager (after the bomb of the film 'All Night Long'). It was at Gallin's house at that time where she met Dolly for the first time, and the introduction was unpleasant (though this is not the full interview, just a reference to it):

Around 2009 Sandy hired me from Rentboy. I had never heard of him before. Got to his 5th ave apt (facing the park), and he actually had another escort who was just leaving and some fem asian houseboy / bf (I wasnt sure).
