I give her credit for reinventing herself.

That’s a really strange play by Williams.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 21, 2025 11:35 PM |
It’s only 3 weekends long and in Massachusetts.

I'm with you R1, kudos to her for at least trying. I'm rooting for her.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 21, 2025 11:44 PM |
Her voice is tiny.

r2, if you watched a lot of Warner Bros. movies from the early to mid 1940s you'd recognize its similarity to a "Twilight Zone" like 1944 WB picture called "Between Two Worlds" with John Garfield, about passengers on an ocean liner realizing they're dead and on their way to the afterlife. There's a1966 TV version called "Ten Blocks on the Camino Real" in which Martin Sheen is playing his character in the style of [iconic gay actor] Garfield. It's like a Charles Busch/Ludlam style high camp spoof.

He’s overrated in the looks department. It’s strange how everyone pretends he’s some beauty.

Pam has admitted to being a theater nerd and reading a lot of plays, so it doesn't surprise that this is her next move following the success she had with The Last Showgirl. Whether or not she pulls it off remains to be seen, but good for her.

While I wish Pamela luck, it won't be easy for her to take on another serious role without the constant mentorship and support of an experienced professional co-star like me. If she can't hack it, I may have to step in to replace her and save the day!

R10 she starred in Chicago a few years ago
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 22, 2025 3:10 AM |
Imagining JLC in a stage production is hilarious to me. I guess the only upside for her is that her voice is so obnoxiously loud that she would have no trouble projecting.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 22, 2025 3:10 AM |
She’s never even attempted a stage production. Most tv/film actors who are not classically trained can’t do theater.
You’re starting to see more of them try though.
People like Paul Mescal and Timothee Chalamet’s roots are in theatre. Even Nicholas here, who studied at a conservatory. JLC isn’t at all.

I love that play. Is she going to play Marguerite?
If there were a way to give her some eyebrows it would do wonders for her face.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 22, 2025 3:18 AM |
I am no expert, but theater and film acting obviously take different skill sets. There is some overlap I suppose, but they're very different mediums. Some actors can do both, while some can only really pull off one or the other. Both have technical demands that are very different from the other.

OP, this is the Berkshires, not Broadway.
I got tickets for this last week before even knowing the cast, just because I love the play and it's so rarely produced. And Dustin Wills is a young inventive director on his way up.
I'm thrilled! Never watched Baywatch but came to love Pam on Dancing with the Stars. IIRC her role, as Tennessee Williams' version of Marguerite Gautier ("Camille'), while sort of the lead, is actually just one of a large ensemble of fabulous characters like Casanova, the Hunchback's Esmeralda, the Baron de Charlus and, of course, the classic America hunky dope Kilroy.

Who is JLC?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 22, 2025 3:21 AM |
R17 the play will have like 15 actors playing characters.

How FUCKING dare you, R18? I am THE thespian Jamie Lee, Lady Haden-Guest, one-time OSCAR winner. Do not make me relive my trow-ma for your mere ignorance.

I just hope there’s no bitter queen in the production - someone with an axe to grind about Tommy Lee.

Jo Van Fleet as Marguerite in Elia Kazan's 1953 Broadway production.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez makin the scene at the Jacquemus opening in Weho on Thursday. Also, Greg from White Lotus.

R23 Jacquemus has the ugliest clothing. No wonder he needs mostly influencers there. Most big stars don’t go to his events.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 26, 2025 5:50 PM |
Will they make her put some make up on?

R24, maybe you haven't spent enough time on Instagram to see him and his husband cavorting on the beaches of Southern France to appreciate this brand!
I don't think his clothes are ugly. If I was being harsh, I could say they're forgettable beach-wear inspired things. It's not the most expensive looking label. The bags are what people are mostly into. I gather that's a way some brands stay afloat. It's a lifestyle vibe.

JLC would be good performing Clarence Darrow in the Arthur Ashe stadium.

R28 it was an event filled with social media influencers. The biggest names there were Jon Gries, Leighton Meester, Nicholas Chavez and Noah Beck.
Meanwhile over in NYC…

I think it’s stupid to pit Nicholas and Cooper against each other but it’s funny that, on a recent EW Awardist podcast with both of them, still-unemployed Cooper revealed that he wants to do a play next…and then Nicholas immediately booked a play.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 30, 2025 2:47 PM |
I've read stories about Pamela Anderson, and she is actually quite intelligent, not the airheaded bimbo of lore.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 30, 2025 2:50 PM |
R32 unemployed Cooper Koch doesn’t need to work. He’s from a rich family. If employed Nicholas Chavez stops working he becomes homeless.
They aren’t the same.
Nicholas didn’t “book” the play after that podcast. He already signed on long ago. This was just announced. And this play is 8 performances total. Nick is making very little for it. Relax.

All of Broadway is becoming like the Chicago production. Grab random “stars” and charge exorbitant prices because stupid tourists will pay
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 30, 2025 2:58 PM |
Again, R35, this isn’t Broadway. It’s a highly regarded nonprofit theater festival in the Berkshires. Tickets are quite reasonable.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 30, 2025 2:59 PM |
…and here’s R34, who takes all of this very seriously, demonstrating why it’s stupid to pit them against each other.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 30, 2025 3:02 PM |
Exactly r36. Front row tickets were $100. The majority of tickets were dirt cheap. It’s not a Broadway production. It’s a nonprofit. Nick is working for pennies practically.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 30, 2025 3:02 PM |
R37 your comment lacks self awareness and intelligence. My comment at r34 wouldn’t exist if you hadn’t commented what you did. Even a child could understand that.

The Boston Globe is treading lightly it seems:
[quote]Hearing Anderson was an issue at Sunday’s matinee. She failed to project many of her lines. Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising. Though she played Roxie Hart in “Chicago” on Broadway in 2022, Anderson has spent most of her career on TV or in film, where vocal projection is much less of an issue. Director Wills needs to remind her of the need to, as they say, hit the back wall of the theater. Anderson proved up to the other challenges of a role that requires her to operate at a perpetual fever pitch of hysteria and, in one scene, repeatedly run back and forth across the stage while barefoot.

R6, I love Between Two Worlds. It's actually a remake of an earlier play and film, "Outward Bound."
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 22, 2025 5:05 AM |
TheaterMania critic admits the play is “baffling” and has some issues with the production but is kind to Anderson (although he notes the lack of vocal projection) and raves about Chavez.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 22, 2025 5:15 AM |
To repeat what has been said before: this is NOT a Broadway production! It's a limited-run one-off at the Williamstown Theater Festival in northwest Massachusetts. Good lord, and you call yourself theatre queens.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 22, 2025 5:25 AM |
Question: In all seriousness, how can this be considered a Broadway Production if it’s in Massachusetts?
Is that a special contract?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 22, 2025 5:59 AM |
R45, it is not a Broadway production.

[quote] Question: In all seriousness, how can this be considered a Broadway Production if it’s in Massachusetts?
I'ts not considered a Broadway production. However, productions from Williamstown (as well as the nearby Berkshire Theater Group, Barrington Stage) have moved to Broadway and almost always use actors with Broadway credits in their productions. So things from regional theaters like this do move to Broadway, rarely, but it has happened. Probably won't with this one unless a producing team thinks Pam Anderson has has the star power to sell tickets on Broadway and support a large cast run.
[quote] Is that a special contract?
Williamstown is on a special contract (probably LOA) that amounts to a salary that maybe a tad over 15 percent of the standard Broadway term contract minimum.
In other words, bubkiss
