Stars Who Are Done But Don't Accept It

I'll start with two easy ones: Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez.

Katy's musical career is finished and she keeps pushing so hard with pr stunts that now she's just hated.

JLo is in a similar place...her music career is over but at least she might still eke out an acting career.

Who else?

by Anonymousreply 207April 28, 2025 10:05 PM

I despise her, but it looks like JLo's about to get an acting career renaissance with "Kiss of the Spider Women," for which she's generating positive buzz.

by Anonymousreply 1April 21, 2025 9:35 PM

Will Smith

Ellen Degeneres

Mel Gibson

by Anonymousreply 2April 21, 2025 9:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 3April 21, 2025 9:37 PM

LOL...yeah, Ellen.

She cracked me up with that "Farewell Tour" of hers...booking huge arenas for TWO nights then when she struggled to fill one, having to cancel those 2nd nights.

by Anonymousreply 4April 21, 2025 9:38 PM

Not a star, but won't accept his soon to be "has-been" status: Pete Hegseth.

And now with "My Dinner with Adolf," at last, Bill Maher.

JLo is not going to get a career renaissance with "Kiss" - people are fucking SICK of her ass.

I'll submit Kanye West for entry.

Britney Spears can join him.

Corey Feldman!

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

Tom Cruise is over but keeps pumping out shitty action movies.

Billy Ray Cyrus (wish he'd take his daughter Miley with him).

by Anonymousreply 8April 21, 2025 9:46 PM

Katy Perry has been done for almost a decade. She seems retarded

by Anonymousreply 11April 21, 2025 9:52 PM

R10. JLo also had positive buzz with Hustlers when, in reality, she was merely ok but better than her usual dull performances. I don't think she's going away but I don't think she's going to increase her star power either.

by Anonymousreply 12April 21, 2025 9:52 PM

Gale Gordon. And don’t tell me his upcoming turn as supervillain Helmut Finsterblatt in Mission Impossible 8 is going to turn things around. You know it’ll just end up as fussy Mr. Mooney in an eye patch with a preposterous German accent.

by Anonymousreply 13April 21, 2025 9:59 PM

Eh, Jennifer Aniston isn't done. She has a show and she's RACHEL. There's 20million Gen X women in the world who will worship her until the day they all die.

Britney is done and doesn't care. She's happy to juggle knives and flash her titties.

by Anonymousreply 14April 21, 2025 10:07 PM

After the flop of her book sales, I'm gonna toss in Barbra Streisand's name.

by Anonymousreply 15April 21, 2025 10:39 PM

Madonna

by Anonymousreply 16April 21, 2025 10:53 PM

How could JLo fuck up Spider Woman? If she moves well & hits the notes - that’s all that’s needed. The PR machine behind it will be insufferable.

William Shatner has raised being done and never accepting it to a fine art. David Duchovny may be there, too.

by Anonymousreply 26April 21, 2025 11:06 PM

Aniston is on a show on Apple TV, which if it has 5,000 subscribers I will be very shocked.

Of course, there will still be love for Friends, but the days of her being in movies are pretty much a wrap,

by Anonymousreply 37April 21, 2025 11:28 PM

Now that "Horizon"s flopped bigly, maybe Kevin Costner will finally accept that he's not the box office draw he was 35 years ago, and thus can't keep shoving "epic westerns" (especially one with two "chapters"!) down our throats.

Clooney needs to retire. He has enough money between movies and child slave labor picking his Nespresso coffee beans. Most of his movies flop, he looks ill, his good looks have faded and he looks older than his age. He's not leading man material any longer and he's not strong enough an actor to be a character actor. Also, his camera thirsty beard is annoying.

by Anonymousreply 49April 21, 2025 11:47 PM

Melania

by Anonymousreply 50April 22, 2025 12:00 AM

JLo is a serviceable actress with the right roles but her career is/was almost entirely based on sex appeal and we all know that don’t last. All things considered, she still looks amazing, but at this point she’s hanging on by novelty status as an aging woman who’s still seen as fuckable.

by Anonymousreply 51April 22, 2025 12:13 AM

Madonna

by Anonymousreply 52April 22, 2025 12:22 AM

Madonna.

There are no more hit records. There will never be that movie role that finally makes her a legitimate actress.

She’s a jukebox act now.

by Anonymousreply 53April 22, 2025 12:25 AM

Honestly, with all the deserved JLo hate, when was the last time anyone paid to see a Ben Affleck movie in a theater?

His stardom has long been smoke and mirrors and there are no more blooms left on that rose.

by Anonymousreply 54April 22, 2025 12:28 AM

Jon Hamm. And yes, i know he's in a new limited series. But he'll never be the movie star people thought he would be.

Streisand is pretty much retired. Her fan base has shrunk and even though she theoretically has a CD out this year, it won't sell like her previous recordings.

by Anonymousreply 55April 22, 2025 12:37 AM

Sarah Jessica Parker

by Anonymousreply 56April 22, 2025 12:44 AM

[quote] Streisand is pretty much retired. Her fan base has shrunk and even though she theoretically has a CD out this year, it won't sell like her previous recordings.

Barbra has entered the talk-singing phase of her career, much like Sinatra and so many others before her.

If she had played it smart like Cher and threw out a catchy, highly-produced dance song every so often she would have had much more longevity and relevance. Alas, she always defaults to beige.

She’s just old lady music now.

by Anonymousreply 57April 22, 2025 12:50 AM

r54 unlike JLo, his career isn't dependent on how great his ass looks. He is smart, and he does have talent behind the camera, as well as some acting chops, when he gets the right role. Am I sure he'll produce some good work in the next year or two? Absolutely not. But I'm sure he has more capability to do so then JLow, who ABSOLUTELY knew what a depraved individual Diddy was back then.

by Anonymousreply 58April 22, 2025 12:51 AM

R33 I’m a deadhead. I only refuse to accept that I’m over because I never accepted that I was “on” in the first place. That’s part of the Dropping Out essence of Dead Culture.

by Anonymousreply 59April 22, 2025 12:55 AM

R59 Are you a gay?

I'm just curious...I don't think I've ever ran across a gay Deadhead.

by Anonymousreply 60April 22, 2025 1:01 AM

Kate Hudson. What a fucking nepo loser. I know she has some stupid Netflix show but who doesn’t.

Did she ever even have a single fan? With menopause imminent, she can longer continue having babies with every man she meets so there goes that guaranteed publicity.

The singing career was also a desperate joke. She is absolutely detestable and can’t disappear soon enough.

by Anonymousreply 61April 22, 2025 1:02 AM

I hate to put Jessica Lange in this category, but recent evidence suggests she can barely get a film made and even when it’s finished, it can’t get released or it gets thrown to cable.

She and Ed Harris tried to sell their film “Long Day’s Journey Into Night,” but no distributor would touch it.

She also has a movie in development on Joan Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking,” but this also seems like a dud film that no one will want to book in theatres.

Sure she could come back with a Ryan Murphy show, or maybe do another play, but at her age she may have to hang up her delusions of being a movie actress.

by Anonymousreply 62April 22, 2025 1:06 AM

Blake Lively. She may be making headlines for all the wrong reasons but her film career is kaput. Who in their right mind would work with that bitch when she has openly said she lies to producers and directors and says she just wants to act then manipulates her way into a controlling position on sets?

Plus, when you start to resemble a female impersonator playing you, you’re toast. The bitch looks like a man.

by Anonymousreply 63April 22, 2025 1:08 AM

Ariana DeBose. She's done - her fifteen minutes expired a few years ago. Stop having her host award shows. Stop casting her in streaming shows. Stop inviting her to 'The View'. Just let her fade off into the sunset.

by Anonymousreply 71April 22, 2025 1:35 AM

[quote] JLo could have a Cher-esque comeback as a recording artist.

She had zero musical talent to start. No one is nostalgic for JLo.

by Anonymousreply 72April 22, 2025 1:37 AM

With a few exceptions, most actors over 40 or 50 are not going to be as successful as they were when they were younger.

Even Meryl has had difficulty recently getting projects underway that go out to market, although she can get multimillion salaries for certain projects. Denzel Al’s still strong. Tom Hanks fading.

The whole movie business is collapsing due to dwindling movie audiences. Cable and streaming help but entertainment is geared towards young people who want young stars.

by Anonymousreply 73April 22, 2025 1:38 AM

Denzel is still strong

by Anonymousreply 74April 22, 2025 1:39 AM

[quote] She had zero musical talent to start. No one is nostalgic for JLo.

No talent required. Just take her upcoming recording of "The Day After That", give it a hot remix, add sugar and stir. It will be an anthem for the newly-besieged queer community.

by Anonymousreply 75April 22, 2025 1:40 AM

I can't stand to watch Denzel anymore. He's a lazy little bitch and struts around like his shit don't stink.

by Anonymousreply 76April 22, 2025 1:50 AM

[quote]Even Meryl has had difficulty recently getting projects underway that go out to market, although she can get multimillion salaries for certain projects.

Meryl was never a huge box office draw. Aside from Prada, I can't think of a single film where her name was the reason people went to see it.

A lot of her hype in the late 2000's was just that. People got tired of her being forced down their throats and not giving others in her peer group a fair chance.

And you can bitch me out all you want, but Glenn, Frances and even Julia aren't doing second rate supporting work on a Steve Martin streaming show.

by Anonymousreply 77April 22, 2025 1:57 AM

I gave up on Denzel when he was out-acted by Jared Leto in The Little Things, r76. Very lazy performance from a formerly great actor.

Norma Desmond.

by Anonymousreply 79April 22, 2025 2:10 AM

Streep has had several box office hits, not just one. She also was a big draw in her 50's, so the 2000s were full of additional hits for her. You may not like her, but she has been very successful including at the box office.

That said, I doubt she could have a box office hit again in her 70s, unless it was a sequel to a previously successful film. She'll probably do small parts from here on out unless it's a fluke that can get financing.

by Anonymousreply 81April 22, 2025 2:16 AM

Katy must be livid. Her three big peers are still crazy relevant:

- Taylor is now the biggest pop in the world. By miles. And miles.

- Gaga just had one of the most successful Coachella's ever. Her new album is a big hit with critics and has sold nearly five million copies in about a month. Her song Die With A Smile is also one of the biggest hits in years and is poised to be the most streamed song of all time.

- Rihanna is a billionaire, hasn't released an album in a decade and still out streams Katy by miles. If Rihanna ever makes music again? We all know it would be huge.

Then there's Katy. No sales. No streams. No buzz. Nothing.

Poor thing.

by Anonymousreply 82April 22, 2025 2:16 AM

[quote]Streep has had several box office hits, not just one

I said one on her name only. Though I will give her It's complicated, which makes two.

Mamma Mia and Into the Woods had built in audiences. Goldie shared billing with her in Death Becomes Her, Bridges of Madison County was already a hit book and she was sharing lead with Clint Eastwood.

by Anonymousreply 83April 22, 2025 2:20 AM

Mikey Madison

by Anonymousreply 84April 22, 2025 2:26 AM

But I don’t see how you can minimize her contribution to the success of the films. Her name was a selling point and she has had a big audience. Oh well.

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” will bomb. It’s not 2002, there’s no audience going to the theaters for this.

by Anonymousreply 90April 22, 2025 3:20 AM

R82 Katy was always a flop.

The past has been rewritten but while she was a huge singles artist, she could never sell albums or tickets. For someone who had 6 #1 singles on one album, “Teenage Dream” only sold like 1.5-2 million during its first run.

She was very payola driven.

I think it’s like 7x Platinum now but that was based on streaming adjustments.

by Anonymousreply 91April 22, 2025 3:49 AM

Katy was a seat warmer.

There are artists who are successful in the off seasons of other artists.

Once Katy took her own off season, she was done.

by Anonymousreply 92April 22, 2025 3:51 AM

Not to mention, she isn't well-liked in Hollywood.

If she couldn't muster a nomination for Selena, her best performance, then I doubt she'll get it for Kiss of the Spider Woman.

by Anonymousreply 93April 22, 2025 3:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 94April 22, 2025 4:04 AM

R68 He’s not done as an actor but he’s been done as a rapper since the 90s.

by Anonymousreply 95April 22, 2025 4:10 AM

Leo maybe? His new film with PTA is really expensive and 3 hours long. He’s 50 and a schlub.

by Anonymousreply 96April 22, 2025 4:14 AM

Someone hit the nail on the head earlier with Tom Hanks. He used to fancy himself the mayor of Hollywood and he’s now box-office poison.

His face looks like he’s melting and the Mr. Nice Guy act just doesn’t fly in these complicated times. His past films mostly seem dated now and his limitations as a performer have become more obvious.

He mostly refused to play anything but a good guy and the result is a limited portfolio and not much to offer as an actor. I don’t even think Marvel wants him in a film.

Apple TV films no one talks about or remembers aren’t anything to brag about.

Does anyone actually miss seeing Tom Hanks onscreen?

R104, can you provide evidence that Katy has more album sales than Gaga in the US?

Considering Gaga has a couple more albums and the second best female selling album of the 2000s (after Adele), I find that claim very hard to believe.

Sales wise, Katy has one successful album (One of the Boys), two massive albums, (Teenage Dream, Prism), one decent album (Witness) and two bombs (Smile, 143).

Sales wise, Gaga has one crazy, huge massive album (or two massive albums for The Fame/Monster), two massive albums (Born This Way, ASIB), two decent albums (Artpop, Chromatica) one bomb (Joanne) and her new album which is selling great. Plus two jazz albums - one of which sold quite well. She also has a couple of remix albums that sold decently, considering.

Further, Chartmasters has Gaga at 96 million albums sales. Katy at 75 million. Granted, that's worldwide, but I just find it hard to believe that huge gap doesn't translate to the US as well.

If every female artist updated their eligible certifications in the US, Katy would be #6 and Gaga #9.

Gaga has has outsold Madonna in the US. Madonna has dropped all the way down to #13(and yes, that includes all her sales that have yet to be formally certified). Madonna is not as popular in the US as she in the rest of the world.

OP here and a lot of you are just posting names of artists you don't care for.

There are different levels of stars. If you reach those top levels, you don't really drop unless you hugely fuck up or "retire" and no one cares anymore. No, Meryl isn't getting a ton of starring movie roles anymore but...she's still fucking Meryl Streep. She ain't "done". Same for Tom Hanks and Denzel. Now, that's not saying that some of them don't have highly inflated opinions of themselves and their talent and their star power but...even ego maniacs like Hanks and Denzel are still held in higher regard than poor sad ole dumb Katy Perry. Unless they really fuck up, Meryl and Tom and Denzel are going to get pursued for juicy character roles and cameos with star billing, until they're dead.

by Anonymousreply 135April 22, 2025 10:29 PM

Katy Perry and Paula Abdul are very similar in their career paths. Lots of hits and attention and stardom but...not a ton of respect. They peaked at a certain level and while they'll always have their fans, they're not the same kinds of fans as the ones the Icons have.

by Anonymousreply 136April 22, 2025 10:32 PM

R127 that is a ridiculous metric!

It's not even close to accurate. That's about "certifications" (whatever the hell that means) not album sales/SEA.

I have no love for Madonna, but any chart that has her that low is a joke.

Nicki Minaj has outsold Madonna by 200 million???? Sure Jan.

by Anonymousreply 137April 22, 2025 10:49 PM

Nicki Minaj

[quote] No, Meryl isn't getting a ton of starring movie roles anymore but...she's still fucking Meryl Streep. She ain't "done". Same for Tom Hanks and Denzel.

Meryl and Denzel still make hit films.

Tom Hanks is beyond over.

An ugly, untalented has been.

by Anonymousreply 139April 23, 2025 1:42 AM

[quote]OP here and a lot of you are just posting names of artists you don't care for.

You could say the same with you posting JLo. You don't even have to like her, but Kiss is going to be one of the most talked about movies this fall. That's just a given at this point, and if you don't think the media is going to work overtime promoting her, think again.

And yet "Eke out a movie career"? C'mon.

by Anonymousreply 140April 23, 2025 1:46 AM

[quote]Meryl and Denzel still make hit films.

Meryl hasn't had a hit movie (or an academy award nominated performance) in years. The Prada sequel could change things, but right now, she's at her longest stretch without an oscar nomination since she started her career.

McDormand has more oscars than her, and is tied with Kate Hepburn.

by Anonymousreply 141April 23, 2025 1:48 AM

I don't know who the poster(s?) are that think "Kiss" is going to be some phenomenal movie - it's not.

JLo's flack here?

by Anonymousreply 142April 23, 2025 1:48 AM

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is the musical sensation of the year. Oscar will crown it with gold come February. JLo has never looked younger, more breathtaking or exhibited more talent. She’s a cinematic revelation.

by Anonymousreply 143April 23, 2025 1:52 AM

[quote]is going to be some phenomenal movie

I didn't say it was phenomenal. I said it was going to be one of the most talked about movies. There's a huge difference, and if you don't know that, you shouldn't be posting on this thread.

One thing JLo knows how to do is create buzz. And the media will run with it.

Watch.

by Anonymousreply 144April 23, 2025 1:52 AM

Thank you, Tom Kirdahy.

by Anonymousreply 145April 23, 2025 1:53 AM

JLo will win the Oscar for “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” ushering in a new era of cinema.

No one has ever given a greater performance and no one ever will.

by Anonymousreply 146April 23, 2025 1:56 AM

LOL...sadly, JLo was unable to work her "magic" on her Vegas residency, tour, and last album.

by Anonymousreply 147April 23, 2025 1:58 AM

Ben will weep with regret and jealousy once he sees JLo in “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” Her beauty and talent will destroy him. He will beg her to take him back.

by Anonymousreply 148April 23, 2025 1:59 AM

If the movie flops, I'm sure Steve can get her a gig on Only Murders.

That's where the once famous go, I hear.

But Martin's taken LOL

by Anonymousreply 149April 23, 2025 2:01 AM

Jennifer Lopez should stick strictly to acting. She’s quite a good actor. Trying to remain multihyphenate star is her downfall.

by Anonymousreply 150April 23, 2025 2:03 AM

Chita who? That’s what the world will be saying once JLo illuminates the silver screen in the future Oscar winner “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”

The silver screen has never been hotter.

Prepare to be caught in her web of desire.

by Anonymousreply 151April 23, 2025 2:05 AM

This thread is funny. Apparently everyone working is washed up.

by Anonymousreply 152April 23, 2025 2:09 AM

JLo ignites cinema with her scorching hot performance in “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”

She will set moviegoers ablaze with a portrayal that combines carnality with vocal power and pulsates moviegoers with an unforeseen heat.

This one’s a winner folks. Mark my words.

by Anonymousreply 153April 23, 2025 2:12 AM

Jim Carrey

by Anonymousreply 154April 23, 2025 2:12 AM

I don’t think it’s unlikely Streep could win again. All she needs is the right role. Will she ever have 5 best actress Oscars? Doubtful. But don’t count her out.

She needed time to separate from her husband and meet five grandchildren that are now on the payroll.

by Anonymousreply 155April 23, 2025 2:13 AM

In what alternate reality is JLo quite a good actor?

by Anonymousreply 156April 23, 2025 2:18 AM

It’s never too early to set a Fandango alert to purchase “Kiss of the Spider Woman” tickets.

Don’t get left behind for the event Rex Reed -Lopez calls “ a winner.”

by Anonymousreply 157April 23, 2025 2:20 AM

I love that this thread has turned into an anti-JLo/anti-Streep thread.

Carry on, bitches! Never change!

by Anonymousreply 158April 23, 2025 2:30 AM

People say I like everything. But I LOVE “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” Jennifer Lopez redefines the femme fatale for a new generation with her youth, beauty and powerhouse vocals.

The Oscar race for 2026 is over. Just hand JLo the trophy now.

What was Ben thinking?

[quote]Spielberg and Scorsese. Neither of them has had a relevant movie in decades.

r120 = Rip van Winkle

by Anonymousreply 169April 23, 2025 4:05 AM

I guess that depends on what definition of relevant you're using, r169. They've made financially successful movies in the last 20 years but their enormous hits are in the distant past (Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Indiana Jones, Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi Driver). Are people going to be talking about The Irishman and The Post in another 20 years? It's possible but I doubt it. I think it's fair to say that those two men are long past their creative prime.

by Anonymousreply 170April 23, 2025 6:36 AM

I think The Irishman will be talked about for no reason other than being the first movie with Scorsese and Pacino. It's also a great companion to Goodfellas and Casino. It's not as good as those two movies, but it sits nicely beside them.

Spielberg hasn't had a great film since Lincoln.

[quote]This list would not be complete without the name 'Joan Collins'.

Joan will be 92 years old next month and has been around forever. I think she has enough self-awareness to realize that her salad days are long behind her.

by Anonymousreply 175April 23, 2025 12:22 PM

R175 I don't. She takes advantage of every single opportunity to be in the public eye and stay relevant. It's been reported she just signed on to star in a movie. Still working, still making the interview rounds, still tipping off the paparazzi to take her picture when she's leaving Spago in Beverly Hills.

by Anonymousreply 176April 23, 2025 12:28 PM

"Star" is immoderate, but ahem.

by Anonymousreply 177April 23, 2025 12:32 PM

The first footage of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” has been released and JLo, indeed, looks and sounds sensational.

Jennifer Aniston isnt done. Stars can ease up. So all those Golden age of Hollywood stars were done? RIDICULOUS. If u reach the A++ heights youre never Done.

R 179 = You forgot to say, "They ARE still big -it's the pictures that got small."

After the $8 ticket debacle last year, JLo is now devoting her new tour to shady parts of Europe and the Middle East.

I can’t imagine the types of Interpol’s Most Wanted who will show up for these events. You can almost smell the mix of sweat, Aramis and cumin.

If “Kiss of the Spider Woman” flops, she will likely become the bride of some oil sheik, so the dick hunt begins.

Juicy role...the kind that can lead to awards buzz.

I kinda wanna change this to "Stars who really NEED to be done" so we can put Jojo Siwa on the top of that list.

Of course she ain't much of a star...

by Anonymousreply 183April 24, 2025 12:18 AM

Maybe he falls in the does no category. But my old boyfriend James Franco is done and will never be back. Too many people know things.

by Anonymousreply 184April 24, 2025 3:30 AM

Janet Jackson.

by Anonymousreply 185April 24, 2025 3:33 AM

Ashton Kutcher.

The fact this guy even had a film carreer during the 2000s goes beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 186April 26, 2025 7:43 PM

R186 I haven't heard that name in years. I assumed he actually did realize he was done and went away.

by Anonymousreply 187April 26, 2025 7:47 PM

Jessica Simpson

by Anonymousreply 188April 26, 2025 7:50 PM

"Ashton Kutcher."

Two and a Half Men was careening towards cancellation when Charlie Sheen left the show.

It crashed and burned when Kutcher took over.

by Anonymousreply 189April 26, 2025 7:52 PM

Then how did it run 4 more seasons, professor?

by Anonymousreply 190April 26, 2025 11:49 PM

Kutcher did do the show The Ranch with Sam Elliott, after Two and a Half Men. It ran about 4 seasons I think. He also had an illness where he couldn't see, hear or walk, for a while. (Vasculitis.)

by Anonymousreply 191April 27, 2025 12:16 AM

Joan is a wonder R175 and works her ass off. I should have as much energy at my age as she does at hers.

by Anonymousreply 192April 27, 2025 1:15 AM

Paul McCartney: I really like a lot of his work, but IMO the last good album he did was Flaming Pie. Since Give My Regards to Broad Street, he has affected a MOR singing style something Barbra's. He's a billionaire, so he probably doesn't need the money.

Ringo likes to perform. So every once in a while he does another tour.

by Anonymousreply 193April 27, 2025 10:42 AM

Did anyone mention Tori Spelling yet?

by Anonymousreply 194April 27, 2025 5:03 PM

Kate Hudson., who I always found incredibly boring.

by Anonymousreply 195April 27, 2025 5:59 PM

R141 Meryls Streep is 75 years old. Around the age when Kate Hepburn won her last Oscar. There aren't a lot of great roles for 75 year old women, and anyway, maybe she's slowing down a bit. I'm not a big fan, but after all you can't expect people to be lining up around the block for actresses in their mid-70s, or for those actresses to compete in popularlity with younger women.

by Anonymousreply 196April 27, 2025 6:33 PM

I know stars who are definitely done but I don't know if they accept it. What do you mean, they should retire? If they get decent work, then they aren't actually done. It's kind of confusing.

by Anonymousreply 197April 27, 2025 6:35 PM

Norma Desmond

Baby Jane Hudson

by Anonymousreply 198April 27, 2025 7:21 PM

JoJo Siwa needs to be done.

Not sure why she even exists as a "star".

by Anonymousreply 199April 27, 2025 10:26 PM

R199 Can we even really consider her a "star?"

by Anonymousreply 200April 27, 2025 10:41 PM

I think Meryl would be a big star again if she started working. But maybe she’s waiting for something good.

It feels like there is no top actress now after Cate Blanchett recent debacles and talking about retirement.

by Anonymousreply 201April 28, 2025 1:12 AM

Jojo Siwa is a blight on society.

by Anonymousreply 202April 28, 2025 2:27 AM

who is jojo siwa?

by Anonymousreply 203April 28, 2025 3:07 AM

[quote] In what alternate reality is JLo quite a good actor?

This reality.

She has always been a solid, reliable, everywoman presence in what was in the prior to the 2010s standard studio B-movie fare - lady cops, wrong-side-of-the-tracks romantic heroines, woman-in-peril roles. Not everyone can do that. Coppola, Stone, Rafelson and Soderbergh cast her for a reason.

by Anonymousreply 205April 28, 2025 8:55 AM

Jennifer Lopez would still be regarded as a respectable actress if she hadn’t pursued that trashy pop career and hadn’t adopted “JLo” as her public persona.

by Anonymousreply 206April 28, 2025 10:59 AM

R206 I have to agree. But, she wanted it all...to be a megastar multi-hyphenate who can do it all.

She never figured out she isn't really a good singer. And, pop stars have a short shelf life especially when they're not that great or don't have that many beloved hits.
