I'd say : EVERYONE.

On a recent trip to Mexico, I saw billboards advertising a concert with Pitbull. At the bottom it said, “With Special Guest: Will Smith”
WTF is that about?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 20, 2025 5:20 PM |
R2 = Chris Rock.

1 idk he had a new album 2. What audience was it aimed at? Gen X? 3. Did he ever have a hit album? I thought he had a few random hit singles.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 20, 2025 5:37 PM |
what a slap in the face.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 20, 2025 5:40 PM |
He hasn't had a hit album since the 90s but he has never flopped this hard.

Thanks anyway for the article spin MAGA Yahoo. "Years after Oscars Slap Drama" does sound better than "Assault"
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 20, 2025 6:11 PM |
He should slap the shit out of Usher and see how that affects sales.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 20, 2025 6:13 PM |
It's obvious he thought he'd make a comeback by doing music again - but nobody wants to hear anything from a 56 year old soft rapper. No nearing 60 year olds are tearing up the charts. It's not just him.
He could turn this whole thing around if he stopped supporting Jada - but she's got DIRT on him and will play dirty for sure.
At this point - 100% honesty is the best policy. If he fucked men, then just come out with the bisexual label. A few people will care - but most will support his honesty and struggle with it.
People have been tired for DECADES of their fake red carpet romance and platitudes and saw through it for a very long time. Just be yourself Will and all will be forgiven - seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 20, 2025 6:16 PM |
I’m confused why he tried to release an album again. His music was always sooo corny. He was lucky he ever sold an album.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 20, 2025 6:16 PM |
I don’t think they have a fake red carpet romance. They have like 11 kids. You don’t have kids when it’s a fake romance.
However, I don’t think they are still in love.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 20, 2025 6:25 PM |
Very old school. Albums. Movie soundtracks, cross promotions.Quaint.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 20, 2025 6:27 PM |
It’s not 1991 anymore. No one gives a fuck about his stupid ass now. Even without the slap, the Oscar was the industry telling him now you can go away.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 20, 2025 6:31 PM |
R17 - no, I meant their BEHAVIOR on the red carpet, where they constantly talked about how great their relationship is and they're on a higher level, blah, blah, blah.
They most definitely were a married (even happily for some years) couple.
They were really just over the top about their relationship - it sounded forced and unreal. In the same way when they talk about their kids and their 'talent'.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 20, 2025 6:50 PM |
he was ALWAYS a spineless douchebag.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 20, 2025 6:57 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 20, 2025 7:53 PM |
People haven't forgotten that he slapped Chris Rock. That was a stupid thing to do, if he had to do something to defend his wife he could have just yelled out "Fucking asshole". No one would have given it a second thought.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 20, 2025 7:56 PM |
R26 - stopping the entire show, slow walking up to the stage to do it as well.
It really shows BOTH of his and Jada's narcissism and how far off the deep end they have gone. They needed to be taken down a peg and now here they are. Jada sure as shit hasn't learned a damn thing from it.
I just hope SOMEBODY has the balls to tell Will the truth and let him come back. I like him still, I really do - it was a very stupid thing to do, but we can all move on if he dumps Jada and is truthful.
Here he is though - defending this crazy, manipulative bitch and really nobody can support that. She needs a wake-up call herself.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 20, 2025 8:06 PM |
Her need to publicly discuss her cheating is so awful and narcissistic. Didn't she do it with him sitting there on her Red Table podcast? That didn't do him any favors. You have to wonder how manipulative and dominant she is behind the scenes.
The Scientology association was primarily her doing as she dabbled with some courses and she spearheaded opening the short-lived private school. Tony Ortega reported he wasn't so interested. I imagine he saw how much cash the clams expect celebrities to hand over and was "Nope. Not happening."
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 20, 2025 8:29 PM |
He has one of those obsessive no-matter-what personalities.
It helped him build his celebrity status, but it also means that he'll take whatever abuse his "wife" dishes out and he'll keep releasing projects no matter how poorly they are received.

by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 20, 2025 9:06 PM |
It's amazing - that slap was THREE years ago.
Never have we seen someone's career peak so high and pop so low within an hour. Remember - he won the Oscar less than 60 minutes later.
He did one shitty Bad Boys film and this stupid album that's been planned by the critics for its quasi-inspirational bullshit. That's all - three full years.
Just go sit over there with Mel Gibson, Mo'Nique, and the others.

by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 20, 2025 11:03 PM |
I never was a fan of Will on Fresh prince . I liked Hilary,Uncle Phil and Carlton far more than his character .Some of his movies were okay ,but many of them have been shit . Wild Wild West anyone ? His music only sold in the early 90s because he was 'safe' rap .Parents didnt want their kids listening to NWA and their ilk . So they compromised with his stupid songs. Speaking of music ,I actually like a lot of Willow's stuff . He needs to give it up and take his millions and go love somewhere with his boyfriend and try to enjoy the rest of his life.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 20, 2025 11:22 PM |
His career is as limp as his dick is around Jada
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 20, 2025 11:24 PM |

His next album?
“A SALT & BATTERY”

I stopped caring about Will Smith right after that horrendous "Bad Boys II" film (definitely, the worst of the saga).
Specially due to that treacherous, puerile, vile and most of all UNFUNNY scene in which both he and Martin Lawrance insult and threat the teenage boy who was going on a date with Lawrence's daughter character.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 21, 2025 1:58 AM |
He could've been Neo
by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 21, 2025 2:07 AM |
So many of the biggest stars of the 90s--Will Smith, JLo, Gwyneth--tried to market themselves more or less as branded icons, and then had trouble when they could not live up to the promise of the brand they sold.
Gwyneth is not knowledgeable about wellness, like she pretends.
J-Lo does not have successful romances, like she pretends.
Will Smith is not a happy-go-lucky nice guy, like he pretends.

R58 It’s funny because most people consider the 2nd the best film and that very scene you describe as hilarious. It is hilarious but the first one is the best in my book. The 2nd film is a bit gratuitous.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 21, 2025 2:59 AM |
R59 I thank the cinema gods every day that big Willie turned down The Matrix and Django. To me Will Smith is the epitome of timing is everything. We needed a black action star with crossover appeal. He was the right age and had the right look. Not the great of an actor but improved over the years. A little hip hop without being too hardcore. Just perfect timing.

That he still has defenders of his behavior is mystifying to me. People pick the wrong heroes.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | April 21, 2025 4:35 PM |
Who knew he even had an album? Did he actually promote it? Did he make appearances? He's not Beyonce, he can't pull of the very little to know promo releases.
Rappers don't age well and he was a Gen X, easy listening, rapper. The worst kind. However, rap is a music genre for the youths and his fans in his 50s aren't coming out for him.
Gen Z is into people like Kendrick Lamar, bbno$, Ice Spice, Tyler The Creator, Sexyy Red, Lil Uzi Vert, & Playboi Carti.
No legacy acts, period.

by Anonymous | reply 78 | April 21, 2025 6:11 PM |
R77 If I'm not wrong, he pissed off rappers back in1999, when he stated at the VMAs that he didn't need to say bad words to create a successful hip hop/rap song.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | April 21, 2025 6:49 PM |
R79 What if Eminem had slapped him.
“Will Smith don’t have to cuss in his raps to sell a record. Well I do so fuck him and fuck you too”
by Anonymous | reply 80 | April 21, 2025 6:56 PM |
R79, yup. It especially pissed off Eminem as R80 said.
As Eminem said, if Will wanted to do his rap without swear words then more power to him but attacking other people for doing things differently was wrong. Will was cocky and he could have accepted his award without commenting on what other people were doing. (Then again him being cocky has always been a problem.)
Of the legacy acts of his time, Eminem, Snoop, 50, Jay-Z, Dre, etc. are still very much respected, and quite a few of those people were invited to do the Super Bowl a few years ago and Will, was not.

by Anonymous | reply 83 | April 21, 2025 8:44 PM |
What a pity. He fucked up his legacy by being an asshole. Time may be kind as the slap is forgotten in ten years.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | April 21, 2025 10:05 PM |
r84, it will never be forgotten. When both Chris Rock and Will Smith die, the slap will be featured prominently in their obituaries (in Will's case, in the first paragraph).

by Anonymous | reply 86 | April 22, 2025 1:45 AM |
R85 I agree, it will be remembered forever, it was spectacular and totally unexpected..
However if I was Chris Rock I would I would have played it differently. When Will stormed onto the stage and walloped me I would have crashed to the floor and played dead, or at least unconscious./paralysed. The show would have had to be suspended, paramedics and ambulances would be called and the stage would be full of medics and first responders.. The police would have arrested Will Smith and hurled into jail, and all this would be in front of the live studio audience and the millions watching at home. I would have given an Oscar winning performance as the victim.
That would have made it a spectacular evening, the best Oscar’s ever and totally ended Will Smith’s career.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | April 23, 2025 3:45 AM |
Or another more satisfying historical rewrite: Chris Rock, in complete astonishment and in an attempt to defend himself, blocks the slap and body slams Smith to the ground. Will suffers a lethal blow to the head as his skull smashes against the marble floor. The audience mistakes this for planned theater and bursts into heavy applause.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | April 23, 2025 5:07 AM |
Tiffany Haddish hitched her wagon to the wrong horse when she was defending him. It started her career slide though it got her a small part in the Bad Boys sequel.

by Anonymous | reply 95 | April 25, 2025 11:24 AM |
One of the reasons the slap remains etched in memory was the cosplay theatricality and sad backstory of the sordid affair. It was the "Black Oscars" and Will and especially Jada arrived in great pomp. It was deliciously camp already. Now the world knows all that non-couple's dirty little sexual dramas and Jada's years long cucking, to the point where this ersatz Hollywood Royalty couple wasn't really a couple. Then Chris lands a mild joke that wasn't all that insulting and we all knew Jada had been milking her faked Alopecia for some time and were fed up with it. "Get her! We eyeballed." And the joke worked if you knew, or didn't know, any of the back story, that Jada was faking her medical drama, that they were faking their coupleness and showbiz "royal" status. Then Jada made that huge dramatic eyeroll and Will was moved to enact a chivalrous gesture but in a very vulgar inept way, over a mild or nothing slight, over a relationship that is entirely faked.
