Too bad it was not the purple kind…
Maher has been a debacle for some years now. Self-important, smug asswipe.

Was this the same meeting where Kid Rock was in cosplay as faux hillbilly Evil Knievel?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 1, 2025 9:51 PM |
Riiiight… because Dump has always been the picture of civility and NEVER takes the low road. Give me a fucking break. It’s more sane-washing of that orange asshole, and Maher can go fuck himself.

Who cares what Bill Maher's opinion is. He's an idiot.

Bill Maher has lost all credibility and relevance at this point

Agree that post-COVID Bill can be really annoying in his older age, but there’s nothing in that article indicating that he was impressed by Trump. Even Kid Rock’s quote doesn’t actually say anything. I’ll wait to hear what Bill says about it

His mind was blown when Trump showed him the Putin blackmail pictures of Maher doing God knows what and suddenly he was Donald Trump’s best friend.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 1, 2025 10:23 PM |
I don't know what Trump would have on Maher, I can't imagine Maher doing anything remotely sexual. He probably smokes a cigar and cries while getting a pedicure.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 1, 2025 10:28 PM |
Don’t know why the media reports on his every utterance on his show, except I know why: there is little news being made overnight Friday and that’s when he does his little show.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 1, 2025 10:29 PM |
R10 - at the very least we already Maher will both sides it. And that’s still a mean to try to normalize Dump.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 1, 2025 10:35 PM |
I am suspicious of Maher’s visit, but he went under the auspices of keeping an open mind and not staying only in his bubble. I’ll be waiting to see if his tune changes.
I was outraged when Joe S. and Mika went to bend the knee at MardaLardo. So much so, that I’ve never tuned in since. But now I’m wondering if they’ve ever been back, or have contact with The Pussygrabber since.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 1, 2025 10:54 PM |
Maher's visit is not different that Joe and Mika's visit. Publicly "just to keep an open mind" but privately to kiss the ring and hope he does not come after them or their money with all the power of the federal government.
Does anyone really think Maher is going to confront Dump in his own luxury compound about anything he does not like? If he did, we would have read a Tweet by now trashing Maher.
Dump is not some unknown new president, we all know what he is about for the last 10 years since he first ran for president. There is nothing new to be open minded about. Dump has not changed. It's Maher that has changed.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 2, 2025 1:33 AM |
Why not wait until Maher talks about it. No one thinks Maher is going to the WH to confront Trump.

Maher has been heading in Trump's direction seeking favor, for years. Anyone who thought he was progressive was mislead. I remember his virulent antipathy towards Muslims, and he was pretty outspoken about it on his shows. There were other things too. He constantly mocked, ridiculed, and criticized Democrats for being too "Woke" or playing the race card, or identity politics, and gave them "advice" on how to stop "whining " and be more effective. They could do nothing right as far as here was concerned.

Cough, Cough, BULLSH*T!
Maher has spent the the last 4 or 5 years just fixated on "what the democrats are doing wrong" so he can bring in more Republicans to his show. That's not advice, it's working an angle to bring in a different audience who hates Democrats. Most of his audience is now MAGA freaks and MAGA leaning Independents. His advice is about as useful as the same BS that Joe Scarborough to the Dems.

I’m sure the same posters who thought Clinton and Harris had it in the bag also think Maher is MAGA. Bless their hearts on never getting anything right. Going woke hurt the Dems and helped the Repugs to take over the Presidency and Congress. Maher has been saying this for years.

bill maher is a libertarian, meaning he will always take the position of his own best interest. so yeah, he’s gonna be a trumper. even though trump sued maher for 5 million because he called trump an orangutan (lawsuit was dropped).

I watched Maher’s show recently, and it seems to me that the punchlines in his monologues are rather lowbrow and very pandering, which is funny, because he calls out others for pandering but engages in it himself.

He and Ezra Klein were recently agreeing that the Democratic Party needs reforms in its positions, and Klein is certainly not MAGA. Klein was saying that Democrats need to reduce the love of regulation.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 2, 2025 1:24 PM |
I'd rather be woke, which is a Russian psyops word, than anti-woke which is racism, misogyny, homophobia, hate. If this were the early 90s woke would be supporting gay rights, AIDS education, inclusion of more LGBT in movies, TV, and so on.
Maher's show was canceled by Republicans in 2002. He spent 19 years getting even. That's over, so now he's back to both sidesing, and platforming horrible conservatives. Don't forget he gave a voice to some of the worst, most hateful conservatives on his old show.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 2, 2025 1:29 PM |
He's been slowly morphing into a MAGA cult member so this isn't surprising.

R38 Which is just giving more and more to businesses who already are given everything in our unfettered capitalism. Of course some regulation reform, on both sides, is needed, but Ezra acts like that's all Democrats do. Republicans are OUT OF CONTROL on everything, yet Maher, Ezra, and their ilk are always eviscerating Democrats about everything.

They’re smart enough to understand that Democrats won’t be able to stop the Republicans until the Democrats get their own house in order.

Maher's number reason for disliking Trump: The fact that Trump has not conceded the 2020 election and continues to say that it was rigged since Maher views that as the greatest threat to democracy. Did Maher ask him about Trump's refusal to concede?
Did Maher ask Trump about pardoning 1,600 criminals who stormed the Capitol causing and insurrection that Trump incited?
If Maher didn't ask Trump the tough questions, then I don't want to hear that Trump charmed Maher with bullshit and lies.

Well, Maher must have drunk some Trumpy Kool-Aid as he's now joined the "PBS and NPR should no longer get government funding" bandwagon. Whatever you think about the two organizations, to call either of them "crazy left-wing" is just wrong and puerile. To many conservatives, anything that isn't right-wing is "crazy left."
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 4, 2025 9:44 PM |

R58 and Maher is so wrong about the NPR/PBS funding. Yes the government funds it, and does so for a reason. But public broadcasting also gets tons of corporate money and foundation money and the funders are not "crazy, far out lefties."

You don’t get to bemoan how much both sides hate each other while at the same time use phrases like “crazy left-wing” with intent to insult and belittle.
You don’t get to scream about your first amendment right to free speech but then ban books being read by drag queens.
You don’t get to cry about how horrible the “politics of division” are and try to fix it by silencing your critics.
The cognitive dissonance and projection in MAGA World is always breathtaking!
by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 5, 2025 4:18 PM |
It amazes me that any criticism of the left is seen as kowtowing to Trump. Trump wouldn’t be where he is without all the unforced Dem errors. But some Dems here can almost match MAGA for denial. I said almost.
