Can Rahm save the Democratic Party?
No skeletons there, I'm sure.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 13, 2025 3:08 PM |
Nope
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 13, 2025 3:11 PM |
I'd vote for him
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 13, 2025 3:12 PM |
He's Jewish and Christian Nationalists have taken over. He doesn't have a chance of winning.

Fuck no.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 13, 2025 3:14 PM |
He can’t do worse than the Keystone Cops who are currently considered the leaders in the Democratic Party and the rogues’ gallery of previously mentioned possible candidates.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 13, 2025 3:31 PM |
I’d fuck him, but I wouldn’t vote for him.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 13, 2025 3:34 PM |
Isn't he bi?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 13, 2025 3:38 PM |
He's a former investment banker, he mishandled the Laquan McDonald shooting, and his father was a member of a far-right Zionist terrorist group (Menachem Begin's Irgun, the antecedent of today's Likud party). Frankly, not the best optics if the Democrats hope to appeal to anyone other than RINOs and Never-Trump Republicans.

Definitely a shit-kicker but he has a monkey face and a soft, whiny voice.
He’s always been more effective as an Iago-like puppeteer.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 13, 2025 3:42 PM |
He definitely would NOT sit in Congress holding bingo card signs!

His brother Ari is a buddy of Elon Musk's.
Those many-times-linked-to pix of Musk on a yacht looking like a standing bleached whale show Ari Emanuel and his wife who owns the "Staud" clothing line, too.
Whoever, is my resigned, accepting reaction when it comes to a Democratic nominee to be the POTUS, and that includes Rahm Emanuel.
I also find it comically absurd to look for perceived standards of performance and "skeletons" when Trump has obliterated, and violated, every measure and standard of behavior when it comes to being a US President.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 13, 2025 4:11 PM |
^ Surely you're aware of the double standards when it comes to Trump and anybody else.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 13, 2025 4:21 PM |
He is a game player who has consistently pulled to the right every time.
We don’t need to move to the right. We’ve already lost women’s rights and minority rights.
Moving to the right will not win elections, but it will keep these people employed as they pretend they are trying their darned best.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 13, 2025 4:29 PM |
Hell no. He is way to pro Israel/compromised more than the average politician. He was a former mayor of Chicago and bit urban cities mayors simply don't have a good reputation.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 13, 2025 4:31 PM |
During the Obama years, I found him insanely hot...Great body on him. I'm sure an amazing fuck.
I don't know if that hurts or helps a presidential bid.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 13, 2025 4:32 PM |
Rahm is the reason we do not have universal healthcare, single payer, or even a public option. His opinion carried far too much weight in the Obama Administration, and he was so awful that the party sacrificed Chicago to get him away from Obama. I'll be among the crowd that tells the Democratic party that if Rahm is somehow the nominee in 2028, that will be the last straw for me and I will hand in my party membership card, never vote for another Democrat, and not give them another penny for the remainder of my life.
I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to think of a worse candidate the Democrats could put forward and I'm coming up blank.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 13, 2025 4:35 PM |
He's corrupt AF and I'm tired of that shit

After your performance, in 2028 when it’s Rahm vs. Vance, you will vote and you will vote for Rahm, but if being overly dramatic makes you feel better…

No Jewish president especially while Israel is committing genocide on the Palestinians.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 13, 2025 6:23 PM |
Josh Shapiro will mop the floor with him. Josh is also Jewish, but younger, more charismatic and likable, and a better speaker. He also has a far better track record in government.
2028 will be a Shapiro and Beshear ticket. Who ends up at the top of the ticket is anyone's guess. And they will win comfortably.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 13, 2025 6:24 PM |
We already have a president who puts another country’s interests ahead of the USA.
Would I vote for another guy who does the same thing? No, I would not. Even if he’s running against Vance. I’d vote for Harambe.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 13, 2025 6:27 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 13, 2025 6:49 PM |
Everybody from Obama world still thinks it’s 2007 -2008 and they would run a flawless campaign!
All of them lose.
Biden only won in 2020 because thousands of people were dying daily and people were desperate to have a change of leadership
Now those same people either don’t believe Covid was ever that bad or that it was a conspiracy to close everything down.
So it’s unlikely that a democrat will ever win again.
Those are the facts.

[quote]you will vote and you will vote for Rahm,
Nope. I'll stay home. Putting Rahm up would be the final nail in the Democratic party's coffin, and we'd be better off with no one representing us than Rahm.
I fully understand it when you dismiss someone who says they'd never vote for a hypothetical candidate because we never know what and how the deciding issues in any given election will play out. And sure, if it's Rahm v. Vance... well, that's like deciding if you want to die by firing squad or lethal injection and you're dead either way. That's what we face with Rahm, and it does not matter who the MAGAts put up whether they still want to defy the Constitution and keep their toilet paper tongues licking Donald's crusty ass, Dotard is out of the picture and they're stuck with Guyliner, or they elevate another racist immoral and criminal pig.
And, yeah R23, I'd take Cory Booker any day of the week over Rahm. It's not even a question.
Here's the bottom line and why we cannot ever trust Rahm: We sat there in 2008 with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, the House overwhelmingly Democratic, and a high-minded but inexperienced POTUS shackled with an obvious but unspoken truth: half of the country would never accept him because he is black. And yes, I know all about the short window in which the Dems held that filibuster-proof status... with which we did NOTHING when we could. And we did nothing because Rahm was there whispering in Obama's ear that if he just tempered his rhetoric, extended an olive branch to the Republicans, and instead of leading with the purpose and mandate that the American people handed him after Bush's disastrous tenure, sacrificed the last opportunity that the Democrats will have in my lifetime (and it makes no difference whether I'm 20 or, as I actually am, 60) to make the kinds of change that this country so desperately needed and needs, and Obama [italic]listened to him[/italic] and not the overwhelming majority of the country that put him in office.
When was the last time that deferring to the racists resulted in any progress on race issues? When was the last time that giving the other side everything they asked for and nothing your side wants in a bill resulted in progress? We can't even pass a bill that nearly everyone wants (see: last year's pitiful immigration reform that Trump killed with a phone call as a prime example).
Look at Rahm's career, (lack of) accomplishments, and his overriding (read: corporate-owned) philosophy, and tell me that he would be one iota different, would lead with honor and purpose, or that he wouldn't just weakly and meekly stand around while the Tea Party, err, excuse me, MAGAts run roughshod over him... again. No thank you.
Now is the time to knock out the losing candidates; let's not wait until we're 103 days out again before we realize the mistake we've made.
We are fortunate in one regard: Rahm's trial balloon has resulted in an overwhelming "absolutely not" from those who know him. I add my voice, however small and anonymous, to that chorus.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 13, 2025 8:36 PM |
How about someone from Chicago for 2028 who isn't toxic poison? One name comes to mind...
Yes he's a great big fat person but that'll be a plus for the "he's just like me" voters.

R45 has the gist of it. And he has made so many enemies over the years it is laughable. His former colleagues in Congress couldn't stand him, He stepped on a lot of people as Barack's chief of staff, and was gently shoved out the door and encouraged to run for Mayor of Chicago. He failed upwards to become some kind of ambassador. He is an asshole supreme.

Why does the Dem party have so many of these frauds.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 14, 2025 2:18 PM |
Republicans have the overwhelming majority of frauds and compromise and corruption, but it's more noticeable when it's a Dem because they claim to be for the common person.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 14, 2025 2:29 PM |
I remember when Howard Dean was chair of the DNC from '05 -09, and wanted a 50 state strategy for the midterms, in 06, and was begging for funding and Rahm was in Congress then, as chair of the Congressional Campaign Committee, and obstructed him every way he could. Rahm wanted to target a few House and Senate r aces. He made a huge issue of it and it escalated from a disagreement to war. Obama offered Howard a spot in his administration in '09, but he refused when he heard Rahm would be chief of staff. And Rahm was a real grudge holder. IMO he is temperamentally unsuited for a political life of any kind, and yet here he is again. His two brothers are so successful, and he is still crashing in to walls. Thank Bill Clinton for finding this wunderkind.

I really like Pritzker, but it worries me that he can't lose the weight. Everybody and their grandmother is on Ozempic and skinny, yet JB is still as big as Chris Christie. If he's really serious about running for prez, then he needs to lose the weight.

by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 15, 2025 6:08 AM |
Their future leader is most likely a current Governor and can’t appear like they’re running four years before the goddamn election. They must be perceived as solely focusing on their states right now. Until then, the closest thing the Dems have to a leader is Hakeem Jeffries.

Teh war in Iraq was a disater but Rahm Emmanuel decided to prefernce veterans for the 2006 campaign, putting DINOs against reliable liberals and so we were stuck with okay but not bright specimens like Tammy Duckworth. And we were stuck with Quisling Schumer, a nonentity in many different ways. Harvard bears some blame too, for Lawrence Summers, Jeffrey Sachs, and their ilk.

You're wrong R72. He's a Republican grifter posing as a Democrat. When the GOP collapsed in 2006, Emmanuel's misdirection of the campaign and replacement of progressives with military veterans put a disastrous cap on what couldbe done. Rahm Emmauel is a disaster and a fraud, and he and his grifter family need to be stopped.
