Discussing the huge success of their recent new shows.
Love seeing Bea and Betty being friendly. Marla's having a great time as well.
Poor Estelle was still largely unknown: "That lady who plays your mother."

Great video OP. Bea and Betty were friends back then.
Something happened along the way that destroyed their friendship.
I find it interesting that Bea accepted to go on a show like Donahue because she was so shy and didn't like giving interviews.

Does anyone else wish that the three of them had done a tasteful nude pictorial together at that time? Nothing trashy or exploitative, just sensual and alluring.

They were also very close during the Merv Griffin interview done around the same time. I do think despite it all, Bea had a lot of respect for Betty. She wouldn't have taken the job if she didn't.

R6 Bea, Betty and Marla?
No.

R7 Yes, and they were friends before Golden Girls.
Now of course, being friends with someone and working with them is different.
I might start hating some of my friends if I worked with them every day lol.

I watched the whole thing and loved it, even the nostalgic commercial jingles.
I got the sense that Bea will eventually be annoyed with Betty. Betty is quick-witted, and she's always "on", and her brain is always clicking and generating jokes. She can't hold the jokes back even if she wanted to. (And I'm glad she doesn't hold back; she's great at improv during interviews.) But I think Bea finds someone like that exhausting after awhile.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
