I'm sorry to say this, but I don't like Jack and Carson.
They're too cut-throat, and not very nice. I actually think they're kind of phony.
And I guarantee you that if they were in first place, they absolutely would have U-turned the team behind them, regardless of if they had a huge lead or not. I would bet money on it.
It's a testament to the teams in first, second, and third place that they didn't U-turn anyone.
The married gay couple are so much better. Loving, supportive, and most of all NICE. They still play the game with integrity, and not be so cut-throat like Jack and Carson.

The editors did not show what Han and Holden said, when they saw the U-turn. That made for the "surprise" ending.
They obviously saw that Jack and Carson were behind them, because as other teams pointed out, there were cards still left in the box. So Han and Holden MUST have seen that there was a team behind them.
However, I think they weren't worried about it, because Jack and Carson were nowhere in sight.
I think it was a stupid move by Han and Holden to NOT U-turn them.

Again, it's a testament to the first three teams deciding that they weren't going to U-turn the other teams behind them. It was a classy move.
Jack and Carson definitely would have U-turned another team.
As for the mom/daughter, the brothers, and Han and Holden, they all U-turned each other because they were so close to each other. So Jack and Carson were not in the equation.
Stop trying to make Jack and Carson out to be nicer than they really are. They were just lucky to have been in last place, because it kept them off the radar.

I'm starting to understand him a lot more.
The guy just has a very negative mentality, usually brought on by being verbally abused when a person is younger.
He's constantly telling himself that he's a failure, and unlucky, and "it always happens to me." As if he's never good enough.
It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. The complete opposite of a positive affirmation.
Poor guy's parents must have really done a number on him when he was younger. He's trapped in a cycle of mental negativity.
