Man, I hated this character

Frank Lorenzo on “All in the Family”. I was on Archie’s side here. Frank was annoying, not funny, and his habit of loudly singing to the neighborhood was not charming.

Plus, he was a total closet case. The Lorenzo’s were supposed to show role reversal in the genders but it was clunky and didactic in execution. Thank goodness Frank vanished so quickly.

Father Mulcahey on M*A*S*H.

The high-voiced, sermonizing padre who always had a bible quote on hand when it really wasn’t needed or asked for.

I disliked both Frank and his wife. Very annoying.

They were suppose to fill the void the Jeffersons left when they got a spin off and they failed miserably. I loved Betty Garrett and Vincent Gardenia but hated them in these roles. I hope they at least made some decent cash.

I loved Betty Garrett as Irene (and in every role). But the Gardenia character was just annoying.

by Anonymousreply 4March 3, 2025 1:53 AM

Gardenia was never a fave of mine, in anything.

I always hated the Fred Mertz character. They should have paired Ethel with a hot young stud.

by Anonymousreply 6March 3, 2025 2:36 AM

Well, I loved both Frank and Irene, and their interactions with Archie and Edith.

by Anonymousreply 7March 3, 2025 2:40 AM

Some people love grating, annoying characters like Irene.

by Anonymousreply 8March 3, 2025 3:13 AM

I loved Irene but yes I hated Frank.

WE'RE HAVING A HEAT WAVE!!!!

Betty Garrett was wonderful! I loved the Irene character.

Andie (Molly Ringwald) from Pretty in Pink. She strings Duckie along, says they're best friends but basically treats him like a little annoying brother, so much so that when Duckie isnt let inside of a club, instead of staying with him she goes in anyway without him.

She is about as much fun as a colonoscopy in her date with Blaine, gets hysterical about him not seeing where she livesm then after ONE more date she gets incredibly clingy and literally makes a scene in high school yelling and PHYSICALLY assaulting Blaine because he rejects (again, after 2 dates)

She's judgemental and looks down on all "richies", but it's not viewed as a bad thing. She dresses like a dime store wanabee old lady, whines and pouts about being hated in school when it's 80% in her head. Even to Steff, he may be an asshole AFTER but their first scene she is unnecessarily bitchy to him, despite him telling her he's liked her for 4 years.

Anyway, yeah, that bitch..

Megan from Mad Men. She just did not fit in with the rest of the show. We were supposed to like her BECAUSE she wasnt as jaded and cynical as the others, but she came off as boring and Mary Sue-ish

Schneider. This guy was never funny. And neither was Pat Harrington Jr.

by Anonymousreply 14June 29, 2025 5:12 AM

I hated everyone on The Jeffersons.

Mr. Viola on Moonlighting

by Anonymousreply 16June 29, 2025 10:35 AM

Kramer. And this was before Michael Richards’ racist standup incident. Would you want that lout living next door to you?

by Anonymousreply 17June 29, 2025 11:21 AM

Lenny & Squiggy on Laverne & Shirley. I felt they added nothing to the show, always irritating and unfunny.

Is Milwaukee some kind of refugee city for Brooklyn, NY?

by Anonymousreply 18June 29, 2025 11:52 AM

OP- Archie Bunker said in one episode that he’s think Frank was a fag except for the fact that Italian guys were always bothering women .

by Anonymousreply 19June 29, 2025 1:21 PM

Ted Baxter- He was always annoying and never funny. I just wanted him to say his lines and get out of the scene.

by Anonymousreply 20June 29, 2025 1:24 PM

Gardenia never married nor had children, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

by Anonymousreply 21June 29, 2025 1:26 PM

I agree with most of these: Ted Baxter, Kramer (WHY did Jerry put up with him??)
