"I Can See Clearly Now."
🙏 to live long enough to see this evil extinguished, and decency restored.
Trump is doing everything he can think of, including literally moving the capital, to preclude getting back to the Golden Biden Years (yeah, you heard me), when no child had died of measles; when Medicaid was off-limits; when we helped Ukraine; when AP and Reuters could question the President; when the CDC could share information with the public; when people weren't fired from government jobs en masse; when roads and bridges were repaired; when usurious student loans were forgiven; when preparations were made for the next year's flu vaccinations; when we liked NATO; when we followed he US Constitution and Federal laws....
When US citizenship wasn't for sale to money-laundering Russian oligarchs, described as "good people" by the President of the United States, for $5 million, to get a "Gold Card" like America was a casino.
Maybe we need to wear BLUE "MAGA: PRE-25" hats.
Tell me again about Uncle Joe's debate performance, Grandpa. And how awful Miss Kamala's laugh was.

I searched the thread for the Coca Cola polar bears, but nothing came up. Late 70s, early 80s
🎶 "I'd like the world to sing in perfect harmony..." 🎶
I think there was even a polar bear chorus.

Lately, I haven't been in the best of moods, (Daddy, needs some lovin'). This clip makes me happy, just joyful. This is from 1967's, "Rodgers & Hart, Today" with Bobby Darin, Petulia Clark, The Supremes, along with Count Basie performing, Rodgers & Hart's, "Mountain Greenery". As an added bonus, we've got, Homegirl, in the gray suit, dancing for Gay Pride. Hope this brings a smile to you all, as it's done to me.

One of my favorite 'happy' songs ... Tab Hunter singing "Young Love" live.
The way he looks is so cute - shy, smiling and putting his head down more than once. It's like he can't believe he's actually doing this ..lol. And you can tell some of the backup crooners are really pulling for him. And of course that big sigh of relief at the end .. just makes me smile.

Dave Wakeling, the lead singer at r115 played my university right after the Beat broke up and he and Ranking Roger had formed General Public. I was on the Concert Committee and we all panicked when we were told that he had left the arena to go have a pint and was finally found at a nearby bar, depressed at being stuck in a career he was not happy with. They lured him back and the second act opened with r115's song, and I thought the place was going to collapse with the weight and frenetic energy of every dancing in a frenzy. I still think of him and his sadness (unbeknowst to all the fans loving his performance)...
by Anonymous | reply 151 | April 8, 2025 2:25 PM |
R150 I love this song, but it's not exactly "joyful and happy."
If you listen to the lyrics, it's really a bleak story about a woman born and raised in New York whose life is passing her by.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | April 8, 2025 2:26 PM |
R152 Right. It's actually very melancholy, about lost hopes and unfulfilled dreams. That said, it's still a great 1970s pop tune with a sound that really invokes the era and brings back memories.
"Where did all those yesterdays go?
When you still believed life could really be like a Broadway show.
You were the star, when did it close?"
