My theory is that it is represents an abuser about to commit sexual assault.
I don’t think we see complex imagery like this on television shows anymore.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat upon him was Death, and Hell followed with him.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 15, 2025 11:55 PM |
That episode still disturbs me.

Was this from the episode where Leland kills Maddy?

I need to rewatch the series. I actually never made it all the way to the end of Season 2
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 8, 2025 5:07 PM |
I just started watching this the other day. I’m 2 episodes in. WOW this is some really good shit for 90s network television. Feels like showtime or something.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 8, 2025 5:16 PM |
We all end in tragedy
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 8, 2025 5:25 PM |
No one makes it to the end of season two
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 8, 2025 5:45 PM |
Please no spoilers. But do they revealed who murdered her at the end of season 1.

Who turned into the drawer handle on the nightstand?

Can someone explain the entire 3rd season of Twin Peaks to me?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 8, 2025 6:37 PM |
That was Joan Chen’s character, R15.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 8, 2025 7:02 PM |
R14 The murderer is revealed halfway through season 2.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 8, 2025 7:04 PM |
We never really saw the likes of it on TV before either, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 8, 2025 7:11 PM |
One of my favorite scenes from the series.
I love the Log Lady.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 8, 2025 7:22 PM |
I can explain some of the third season of Twin Peaks, R16. Lynch demanded extra episodes/cash and then could not deliver a story to fill them. To start, he threw in fifteen minutes per episode of credits and musical guests. Then he added equal parts constant introduction of new characters and repeated application of favorite old characters in ugly settings, caught in locked rooms or trapped in brain damaged shells of themselves, etc. Then he spent all of the effects budget on a flashback episode and had to use interns to animate the finale. Agent Cooper fucks Diane, Mark Frost is AWOL, the end.

Also: no creepy backwards talk guy.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 11, 2025 12:46 AM |
Bobby Briggs looked even better, that was one saving grace it had.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 11, 2025 12:51 AM |
Season 3 is more in line with the movie. It’s unfiltered Lynch without network restraint.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 11, 2025 12:55 AM |
Dana Ashbrook lucked into the role of Bobby as he was necessary for every iteration of the story.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 11, 2025 12:56 AM |
Bob’s appearance scared me so badly I couldn’t walk down the hall of my dorm to the bathroom alone for a week!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 11, 2025 12:58 AM |
HORSE!!!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 11, 2025 1:07 AM |
I wasn't much of a Twin Peaks fan back in the 90s but God I love Season 3: The Return. I think it's my favorite work by Lynch
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 11, 2025 1:08 AM |
It was Ames. Palmer who saw the horse, in the series and in the movie, IIRC. Some have said it’s a vision she has while Leland drugs her.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 11, 2025 1:09 AM |
Lynch has to get his horseshit somewhere….
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 11, 2025 1:11 AM |
The ceiling fan is scarier than the horse. And the record player too, for that matter.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 11, 2025 1:13 AM |
The spotlight is wild.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 11, 2025 1:33 AM |
Dammit. MRS. Palmer, not Ames.
Auto correct!!!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 11, 2025 1:34 AM |
Laura in the Black Lodge was scary too.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 11, 2025 1:40 AM |
R21 I do not agree. The whole show was an argument against its own existence. And the existence of all reboot type series.
By and large most of the old favorites look terrible, have fallen into addiction, depression, and most are not in a good place.
When we see James, he does an uncomfortable reprise of the song he did in the original series. Using the original track.
An overweight, pathetic Audrey does her dreamy dance from season 1. Except this time it's more like a nightmare.
Dale Cooper goes back in time, and inadvertently negates the entire series.
I think the very end, with Cooper asking "What year is this?" and Laura screaming is the existentially bleakest moment in television history.
It's brilliant.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 11, 2025 1:44 AM |
Agent Cooper being so stupid that he has to be taught how to urinate is not brilliant.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 11, 2025 1:48 AM |
This thread has convinced me I need to watch The Return
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 11, 2025 10:28 AM |
I (partly re-)watched all of Twin Peaks during the Covid lockdowns.
It's hard for me to put into words why but the series, especially Season 3, managed to disturb me at a fundamental, subconscious level. It's really ingenious, Lynch truly was a genius.
The series as a whole has its flaws, but I don't think there will ever be a TV series that has such a profound impact on me again. I'm waiting a few years to rewatch it again.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 11, 2025 10:47 AM |
The first two seasons it was a soap. The third season was a Lynch movie, not a soap. I preferred it soapy.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 11, 2025 1:00 PM |
R38 its the existential dread. Nothing was pretty, everything had sinister undertones. "What year is this?" just fucking KILLS me. I mean... man.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 11, 2025 6:37 PM |
Just started watching Twin Peaks: The Return
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 13, 2025 10:23 AM |
The image that always stuck with me was Bob coming over the couch. Just rewatched it and got chill all over again. (Sorry, OP, I don't think the horse even comes close.)
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 13, 2025 10:50 AM |
Multiple chills, even. Friggin' typos. [mutters]
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 13, 2025 10:51 AM |
Twin Peaks: The Return is NOT disappointing
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 13, 2025 2:01 PM |
It depends on what you like. It’s definitely not the same in tone or concept as the first two seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 13, 2025 2:04 PM |
I thought the horse was goofy in an otherwise terrifying episode. The Return has some incredibly moving scenes and flashes of brilliance but it certainly isn’t for everyone.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 13, 2025 2:55 PM |
The casino scenes in The Return are brilliant
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 14, 2025 9:07 AM |
Agreed, R43!!
